So is this contest.

For the 5th time now, this was THE occasion for people to show us the best pictures they made at the SPIEL fair at Essen.
The awards: All entries had to be added until midnight Nov 7th / Nov 8th BGG-time.
People were asked to submit each photo or series as a single entry with the name of the game / designer / whatever and TELL us the CATEGORY for this picture.
Voting (thumbs to the entries) was open for 3 more days until midnight Nov 10th / 11th BGG-time.
The pot this year was made up of the following:

The total was devided by 18 into equal parts. 6 equal "1st places" got two of these parts and 6 equal "2nd places" one part. Prizes were given only in full . The rest was given to the picture I liked best from the pics not awarded.
The pot this year was incredible 1178 total.

Prize-winning pictures at the beginning of each category
1. The convention. # 1 - 29 The public, the people, the whole atmosphere, condensed in one single shot.
2. Game: Bits and Boards. # 30 - 94 Show us the most beautiful NEW game, with the bits, the box, whatever, but concentrate on the pure game as it is.
3. Game: Play. # 95 - 120 Present us the best shot from actual gameplay. The fun, the crazy people, the concentration. But still: Show us the game they play, please, too!
4. Designers & Presentation. # 121 - 157 Show us the booth, costumes, designers, gadgets, 3D-giant games, but please: A good picture!
5. Funny stuff. # 158 - 180 Make us laugh. That`s all.
6. Picture series. # 181 - 188 Show us a sequence that tells us a story - before & after, or the flow of a game in subsequent rounds, or whatever you like, in at least two pictures.

Hard to put this in a category (rather than "Fun - make us laugh" I would like to put it in the "Sad - make us cry"-catogory!), but to me it is the single thing that haunts me after Essen 2011.
Therefore, I might've put it into 1- The convention, but I guess that doesn't fit properly.
Therefore: 2. Game: Bits and Boards.
Missed out on the 60€ deal of Tournay and Troyes, even though I had the chance with 19 copies left. After talking to one of the designers later in the fair, I realized my big big mistake and are now grieving until I can get it here at home at a reasonable price.
Ah, the artwork. Amazing.
Oh, well. Sadness. Regret.
