Welcome everyone to the November 2011 Edition of the GeekGold for Game Lottery.

As you can see this month list took quite a while to be publish, this year has been chaotic and hectic, and until the redesign is finished it will be like this for a while unfortunately. So, to allow me time to do all, please, draw all the items after November 15th.

These are the Rules

Who can participate?
Everyone can take part of the system, with the following exceptions: new users cannot list items unless they are a patron.

How to bid for an item?
If you see an item on this geeklist that you're interested in owning:
1. It couldn't be more simple. Just tip that entry 1 and you are entered to win that game.
2. Check the description to see if you are allowed more than one entry on the item, and if there are bonus for multiple geekgold bid.
3. The bid is binding. Which means that once you bid the item it is assumed that you read the entry completely, understood and therefore want to take part of the drawing. The lister doesn't have an obligation to give your tip back although most won't have an issue. If for some reason an user withdraws from a lottery and should not be chosen as an winner, the lister should contact me to have his name ignored.

How to put an item on the lottery?
If you have a game that you're willing to part with for a little geekgold:
1. Post it as an item on the list.
2. Include a full description of the edition that you have and its condition. Be very clear on conditions, marks and box
3. Specify if you will be limited in shipping options. If you ship internationally, if the shipping is on you, and if so how much.
4. Specify when your item will close for entries.
5. You can post Board Games, Video Games, RPGs, and related items. You cannot make a lottery for Geekgold or something completely unrelated the main entry, although these types of item can be added as bonus or as second winners. You can put gift cards as long as it is for an store related with the domains (i.e. no gift card to a convenience or department store allowed, but one for steam, funagain, drivethru rpg, etc can be raffled).
6. Always link to the correct item on the database. So if you are auctioning the Video Game version of Puerto Rico link to Puerto Rico and not to Puerto Rico.
7. To guarantee that the item will appear on the subscription page, allow for at least 1 week between listing and drawing.
8. Miscellaneous game entries, like FIMO miniatures, pimp items, etc should be added using Miscellaneous Game Accessory, Miscellaneous Miniatures Game Accessory or Miscellaneous Card Game Accessory as appropriate.
9. The item must be draw between November 1st, 2011 and November 30th, 2011

Specific rules for types of item
1. For board games, contact me before adding homemade versions of non-Print and Play games.
2. For RPGs remember that the spirit of these lotteries is one of fairness. So, make sure that if you offer a PDF version of a given book, that you have the right to resell it, put on the item that it is indeed a PDF. Personal scans, illegal digital copies and xerox of books are not permitted.
3. For video games, no pirated or bootleg version is allowed. Remember that some online versions have pretty strict rules on what you can do with your copy. So when offering a game, make sure that you indeed can transfer the full ownership of it to the user. In case a new potential user would have some restriction with the new game, like not been allowed to access official online serves, add this information to the post.
4. If you are in some way connected with the item in question, either as a publisher or as a designer, contact me before posting any such item. And send me the wording you intend for the entry.

What to do when the lottery ends?
1. When closed, use the Copycat Awesome Tool to select an winner.
2. Contact that person and arrange shipment of the game.
3. Send them the game.
4. Edit your geeklist item on this list with a note saying that "THIS ITEM IS CLOSED!" and to put the avatar of the winner, use the code [ username=name_of_winner] (without the space) for that.
5. When an item is closed don't delete them.

How to use the Copycat Awesome tool?
1. Go to Copycat Awesome Tool;
2. Use your BGG login and password to log into the tool. The password is not kept by it, but it is sent directly to BGG for authentication.
3. On the Home Page of the tool there is a list with all of your listed items, just click on the correct one;
3.1 Optionally go to Items->Check Item and type the unique id for your item. To get the number right click the Postdate on the geekitem and check the #itemid part, that is the id;
4. Once you are on the item page, click the Roll Item button. The button will appear on the beginning of the date you want the drawing, as seen by the server (the server is located at the GMT-4 timezone)
5. The next page will have the name(s) of the winner(s) and a block of text you can copy to post on the tool if you want.

What should I do if the tool is incorrect?
Part of the tool is updated manually by me. The drawing date, number of winners, bonus and rules, are added by me on the tool based on what is written on the item. I usually do an update a week, so after I do that your item should correctly appear on the tool.
Before you draw check if the item is correct. Check the number of winners that are activated, the amount of geekgold tipped, and if the rules are correct. In case there is any problems, contact me before rolling the item. I will fix the issue and contact you back so you can roll the item.

I want to use a different bonus structure, can I?
The answer is maybe. The tool is vary powerful and customizable but some things it can't do. By default, anything dealing with other items can't be done easily, nor can anything that is not a mathematical change on the geekgold. It is possible though to add special rules to items, so contact me before listing the item so I can tell you if it is possible. In the case the tool can't do it and I can't add,you can't use.

I think there is something wrong on an item, what should I do?
If you suspect that something is wrong with any item on the lottery, please contact me by GeekMail explaining which behavior you saw that got you suspicious. If you won an item and the lister is logging but not contacting you, or has disappeared from BGG contact me as soon as possible. If the item should have arrived already but hasn't and the lister is not being cooperative or answering your inquires, also contact me so we can solve this in a timely manner.

Can I tip back people who tipped me?
Yes, you can use the GeekGold any user tipped you to tip on one of his items for lottery, but with discretion. You are not allowed to enter in collusion with an user to circle tip each other to get your chances very high. Doing so will remove both from the lotteries and take the geekgold incurred during it. Simple getting a tip and tipping back is not a problem. If you realize that there is an item one user has that you really want, and he really wants one of yours. Propose a trade (users are encouraged to add, before listing, items they want to lottery off on their Trade list), and if it goes through you reimburse the geekgold of every other participant.

Additional rules and guidelines
1. Don't update more than once a day;
2. Editing for the sake of trying to attract people is bad behavior. Doing it everyday (countdown to draw) is even worst. When an entry is updated I go check it to see if I have to change anything on the tool entry for it, and when there are half the items with updates, that can be a bit difficult;
3.Posting on the Game Forums or on the General Gaming forums and GeekMailing users about the offers your put on the lotteries is considered spam and should not be done. We have a very high profile subscription thread on the GeekBay forums, which should take care of adding visibility. Rare will be the user that wants to take part but doesn't know already about it.
4. You cannot reserve a spot on the geeklist by adding a TBA announced post while waiting to post latter, just to have an earlier place.

Special notes
Special Note #1: If you are giving an item, there is no guarantee for number of entrants. You must be prepared to give away your game even if you only receive a single geekgold entry. Do not enter a game unless you are prepared for that outcome!!

Special Note #2: If for any reason you are forced to withdraw a game you offered, you must refund all geekgold tipped to your entry.

Special Note #3: This is more a personal request, please try to avoid over complicated bonus schemes and shipping thresholds. Although I understand and find it funny when an user goes with 10 different levels of free shipping with some countries here and there, I have to update this info manually on the tool for it to show on the update, and that delays the subscription update (a simple listing takes 10 sec, a more complicated can take up to 2 minutes)

100gg = Ghostories

Republic Commando!

Bonus Unlocked! Adding an xbox 360 copy of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, signed by one of the writers (or unsullied, if you'd prefer!)

If this reaches 1250 I will add an xbox 360 copy of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

As a sticky-sweet, diabetes inducing, chemically enhanced sweetener, I will throw in:

[size=14]An awesome, very limited, exclusive Episode III bust of Chewbacca made only for the crew of the film and the ILM team.

Here's the story: I used to maybe sort of work for a company that had something to do with this sort of stuff. These busts were made for the crew and ILM team for Episode III and were also given out to employees of the connected companies of a particular media empire.

It's very solid and heavy, with a thick heavy marble base. The body is made of some very thick solid resin, brush painted a bronze textured color. It's quiet handsome and has been kept in lovely condition, (it spent a number of years on my desk wearing a paper hat, shirt, and ruffled tie, with a small sign that said: "Frank Sibacca").

This bust was never made commercially available, and never sold. Some employees sold theirs (sealed in the box) on ebay and on auction sites for upwards of 500$. I did no such thing, but I find myself with less desire for things that aren't multi-functional, so much of my memorabilia has got to go, and I can't think of a better potential home than with a good solid geek.

In the meantime, I'm sending Kris something star wars related as an extra for his generousity, but it's a surprise...ninja

Awesome!

Here's the promised story behind the poster. Rich or Brian should call me out if I get any of this wrong.

There was a moderate amount of tension between the development team and the marketing team as to how the game (The Force Unleashed) was to be marketed and presented. If you've ever seen the cover of the game, or heard the title, you'll know what I mean. Force Unleashed wasn't our first choice for the title, and the cover and main image weren't what we wanted either. We wanted something classy, classic, mythic and iconic. They wanted it to be BOOM BANG SLAM! and to jump off the shelf.

Unsurprisingly, marketing gets final say on the marketing decision.

Sometime in our final late hours of finishing the game, when we were working crazy 24+ days, our lead concept artist, a woman of astounding talent who I will call ABC, found her self with nothing more to do, as the rest of the team fixed bugs. Her art was instrumental in every aspect of the game, most of the big set-peices or cool moments came right out of her amazing paintings.

So, in a matter of just a few hours, she painted up a very awesome, classic Star Wars style poster, one that has the look and feel of the movies. It was everything we always wanted the game and cover to look like. It was incredible. So, a couple hundred posters of the image were printed up, and passed out to the team. I found myself with two of them, and when Kris volunteered to have the games drawn for another winner, it seemed a good thing to add to the package. I can't find any pictures of the poster online, given that it was only internal, but trust me, it's really cool.

Enjoy, Kris, and thank you!

Kolejka

Out-of-shrink, never played (cards still in cellophane). Second polish edition, currently OOP and basically impossible to get outside of Poland. The game is completely in Polish and is a bit language dependent, however, you can download official english rules and a full print & play version at http://www.ipn.gov.pl/portal/pl/737/14096/?poz=3&update=1. This edition comes with some nice extras like the DVD movie showing real "kolejkas" in Poland in 60's and 70's.

The game will be shipped from US (85721). Shipping is to US only. However Volfield offered to cover partially the shipping to anywhere in the World (see below) so if you want to use his generous offer, you can still bid while outside of US and then work the details with him and me. You can check the shipping costs at www.usps.com website - the weight of the game with the box is 3 lbs and 8 ounces. The game DOES NO FIT into the priority medium flat-rate box. I require delivery confirmation which is $0.70 per package (priority) or $0.80 (parcel post).

If you don't believe your luck, you can get the game at a $$ auction for a reasonable cost here: http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/73851/us-kolejkaqueue-auct... (ends 11/4).

Entries:
1 geekgold - 1 entry
5 geekgold - 6 entries

What would the size of this package be? I am really, really interested - but I would have to find out whether it is worth bribing someone in the States to send it to me afterwards before I bid...

This lottery item is for a used copy of Thurn and Taxis

The game is in great shape, with the box and the components showing minimal wear. Got this as part of an auction lot, but I already have another copy. I rather see someone win the game and share my liking for it than have it sitting on the shelf.

I will fully cover shipping in the continental USA. If you are outside that range, I would cover the first $10 on the price and you would have to cover the rest.

Since this is my first lottery, I will keep it very simple. 1 GG per ticket.

I will raffle this on the evening of Sunday, November 27th.

Good luck!

My wife and I absolutely love this game. The expansions are good, if you ever consider getting them.

The package is in the mail! I hope you enjoy this one the same way I still do (I think I mentioned it in the listing, this one was an extra copy!)

It would fit in a small flat rate box, which I think is around $16 or so to go to New Zealand.

This is a lottery item for two "battle packs", the one on the list and
Warhammer: Invasion - The Fourth Waystone

My wife bought these two during the borders liquidation and I already had copies of them.

They are unopened and unplayed. Great to expand your base card sets!

I will cover shipping to the continental USA, and up to $10 dollars outside that range.

Since I am still inexperienced with this lottery thing, I am not getting fancy. 1GG gets you one ticket.

The items will be raffled Sunday, November 27th.

I acquired this at the beginning of the year and just came across it again today when I was looking for space to put a different game. As I find it pretty unlikely that I'll ever play it, I'll put this up in the hopes that it'll find a more played home than mine.

The cards are all sleeved, the chits are bagged, the board folds up nicely and comes with a printed copy of the rules as well as four different colored pawns and a six-sided die. Everything is in the box pictured below.

Entries:
1 = 1 Entry
5 = 6 Entries
10 = 15 Entries

Shipping:
Start with split shipping for both US and global.
At 200 shipping is free for US.
At 500 shipping is free worldwide.

Closes:
November 30th, probably around 2:00 PM EST. I'll post the auction as closed prior to drawing the winner.

Game is in good condition; only been played twice.

Shipping: Free within the U.S. Once it gets past 300 , shipping worldwide will be free

Draw date: 21st of November

Standard GG bonus:

1 = 1 entry
5 = 6 entries

Edit: To minimize expected wear and tear on the action cards, I created action "coins" using wooden nickels from a craft store. One side is blank and the other has the action printed on it, so you can make simultaneous selections just like the cards. These will be included with the game.

i just got a copy of this in a trade.

can you put up some pics of your action tokens before you send your copy away

Basically, the tokens were painted a light blue on both sides, I printed a dark blue circle with the words for each token and glued the printed circles onto the tokens. I then varnished both sides so they'd last a while. The circles were hand-cut, so they aren't perfect, but they should be functional and that's all the matters.

This auction is for the Power Grid: Supply Contract, and also includes the Power Grid: Theme Park (BGG Promo Card Set) (BGG Promo)!!

Get this hot Essen 2011 Promo in case you missed the show!!

Quote:
Power Grid: Supply Contract (Funkenschlag: Der Liefervertrag) is a promotional card for Power Grid that was available for a donation at the 2F-Spiele booth during Spiel 2011.

The Supply Contract lets you permanently move one step back in player order, both immediately after the card is purchased and each round after player order is determined; hopefully you have enough cash in hand when this card shows up in the power plant draw pile.

Drawing will be the last day of the month (November 30th) and will use SOL's tool. Note that I will not be in the country on November 30th, but will have internet access to draw the winner. I will ship the item in the first week of December after I get back on December 4th.

This lottery item is for a copy of Acquire - Avalon Hill 1976 in great shape. The game was probably never played with, though all the items have been "punched" (I finished the punching myself to make sure all pieces were complete). I got this in a lot of three copies of Acquire, but I am keeping just one of them for myself, so I don't need the extra one. It can go to someone that will actually play it!

I will cover the shipping in the continental USA, and the first $10 dollars of shipping outside of that range.

To keep it simple, 1 GG gets you one ticket.

EDIT: I am so sorry I forgot to put the date on this. Along with the other two items I have already put on the lottery, this will be raffled November 27th.

You wouldn't worry half as much about what other people thought of you if you realized how rarely they actually did.

Looking at these stars suddenly dwarfed my own troubles and all the gravities of terrestrial life. I thought of their unfathomable distance, and the slow inevitable drift of their movements out of the unknown past into the unknown future. H.G. Wells

I really wish the timing on my part had been better since a winner had already been named by the time this all happened. So if Pete winds up not getting the game as a result of Sol's decision on the matter I'd like to offer to pay for half of the cost of the game if Travis will put up the other half to get Pete his Flashpoint. Sorry Pete.

No need for anyone to apologize to me, I understand where everyone was coming from.

Travis has assured me that I will receive a prize, regardless of the ultimate resolution of this issue.

Just to keep everyone updated, the listed prize was on my porch this afternoon! (Not that I had any doubt that Travis would come through.)

Not sure why they wouldn't name the countries outright. I would like to go somewhere that's as different as possible from where I live now. Probably Central Asia because I would be working with adults there as opposed to teens.

What is your friend doing in Tanzania? I would imagine learning Swahili is pretty difficult for someone from an Indo-European background.

They don't name countries until very late in the process, was the same for Rachel. She was told "Sub-Saharan Africa" until just a month or two before she went. She kind of half-explained their reasoning but I don't remember.

She'll be doing HIV/AIDS awareness/education. I guess that a couple letters in the language have tongue clicks, but that you can kind of fake it and get by. She has three months to learn -- something like 25 hours of instruction a week.
