As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you, now remain in my love. You did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. -- Jesus Christ
This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
Our GeekGuild: Welcome to The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Please do mind the stacks of prized games, do not mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Make sure to bow before our king: Belial I.
The Order's Anthem: Sing along with our good old thrifty theme song...
Found this (2 copies, actually) on my way back from DC last week. Two copies, together, 99 cents each. I thought for sure I could make a complete copy out of these two and make a nice little profit, but no, missing credit cards for players 1, 2 and 3. Only one electronic thingy between the two boxes and missing some of the playing pieces in the second set. Have all the cards, though. Let me know if you need anything.
Sweet mother, what a day. I've pretty much given up on garage sales but saw a CL ad this morning for a nearby school rummage sale with "TONS of board games" so I decided to stop by. Started by grabbing this for $1. Was in great shape and looked interesting...
Then I see a bag about 20 feet away from the games off by itself with a Heroscape manual sticking out. Now we're talkin'. Big paper shopping bag full of figures and tiles for $10. I offer $5 and they say yes. "The lady said it was all there." Cool. Turns out to be the standard Rise of the Valkyrie set with a few pieces chewed up by the dog. Also includes...
This in the same bag. Includes all figures, cards, dice, markers, etc. and at least some terrain, but I'm not sure if it includes everything. Still, enough to make me happy. Also included was another expansion with 3 gladiators and a team of Charlie's Angles-ish figures.
This evening I was out with the kids and decided to make a quick stop at GW on Flowing Wells. I don't think I've ever picked up anything too exciting here, but tonight was apparently my night. What follows is my biggest single-store eurogame haul ever. Not fantastic titles, but enough to make me happy. First I saw this while approaching the game isle. Oh sweet FF logo, how you make me smile. $3.99. Oh, and all of these game are in flawless condition.
