Just added a new Secret Santa Poll . Head over to [geekurl=http://boardgamegeek.com/article/7924278#7924278]Week 2 Secret Santa Poll[/geekurl] to see how everyone is faring thus far in this year's event. And of course, add your votes!

ALRIGHT! It is time once again for the annual Secret Santa List, this time the 2011 Edition. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

Last year there were 1,437 unique entries spread over 58 pages. I'm curious to see how huge it grows this year. As a tip - if you go looking through the previous years' lists, please be mindful of which year you are actually posting your gift to. There have been multiple occasions of people posting a gift from the current year on the previous year's list. That would likely diminish the chances of your Secret Santa getting around to seeing it...

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

does a superb job using the data from this list to create his great statistical look at the hottest gifts of the season. This year's version of his list is located at:

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2011

Last year: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Want some for your stocking? Simon also runs a Secret Santa Sweepstakes which is located at:

This year: 2011 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

Last year: 2010 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

Two of the games I've most enjoyed and played over the past year have been Chaos in the Old World and 7 Wonders. I'd played the Horned Rat Expansion several times at London on Board and really enjoyed the additions it makes to the game but couldn't really justify getting it for myself. However much was my delight when I found a box from Leisure Games sitting on the Kitchen Table this morning and opening it up I found my own copy inside. But not only that there was another game underneath, I'd got not just one expansion to a favourite game but two as there was 7 Wonders: Leaders there as well.

It's all the excuse I need to bring out these favourites again this Christmas.

Thank you very much Santa wherever you are.

This is my first year participating and My Secret Santa was very nice to me. I received 7 Wonders along with two other games. 7 Wonders has been on my list for a while because it gives me the thrill of building a civilization without spending the whole day doing it.

They were Munchkin Zombies and Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game .

Thanks! I will have a great time with these games.

This Friday a very speedy Secret Santa from the opposite side of the world reached out and deposited a very large brown box into my porch. The dilemma was whether to open it or not before xmas. This matter was discussed (briefly!) with my family as the four of us all stared at the brown cardboard box sat on our kitchen table. Opening it up seemed to be the only sensible thing to do if we were going to be able to have some lunch.... But no! Double dilemma! Inside the box was an xmas card and two nicely WRAPPED items! A nano-second later we were tackling the wrapping meeple

What can I say, thank you so much Secret Santa, you have been very, very kind! We are ALL absolutely delighted. The first thing that we opened was the "last night on earth" game - which all of us are really looking forward to playing! There is a request from the kids to play this tonight - what can I do other than oblige?!

The second item was also a fantastic surprise - Claustrophobia. Looks like tremendous fun as good (me, the husband) versus evil (my wife) are all set to battle it out very soon!!! I'm very pleased that my better half said "I'll play you at that!". Result!!

Once again, I thank you. I hope your Secret Santa is as kind as you have been to me. Greetings from the other side of the planet.

Nige

I was beginning to think I had been too bad this year, because I hadn't heard a peep from Santa. Then on Wednesday came this cryptic, nonsensical message, which spoke of feline interment and other oddities. Santa must have been off his meds. But bright and early this morning a package arrived and if anywhere in that message wanted to me to wait Santa... I'm sorry.

Inside was Catacombs! And on top of that was Small World: Be Not Afraid. I don't own Small World anymore (it was lost in a break up, though I am trying to acquire another copy). But thank you so much for the thought Santa. It'll make a nice addition to my collection once I can trade for the base game.

This was my first Secret Santa Exchange, and I'm very happy.

So at 7a.07a am* this morning the postman knocked 7a times on my door and gave me a interesting shaped box!

After waiting the longest period ever for opening a BGG secret Santa present (approx 15 seconds) I ripped open the present to find the new Discworld game!

This has been on my uber want list since I saw Martin Wallace demo it at Essen. So a huge thank you to my Santa for a rockin present, I'm about to crack out he instructions as I type this!

Thanks again Santa!

Got home from doing some errands with the wife and found a box on the table from Amazon.

Since my Scret Santa told me no need to wait, I didn't. I tore it open to find this awesome game. We will be playing it tonight. Can't wait.

This was my first experience with Secret Santa and it has been a real joy! Special Thanks to my Secret Santa whoever you are. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Edit: Just wanted to say that my Secret Santa also took into consideration who I play games with..my 16 year old son and my 11 year old son. This game made them JUST as Happy as it did me! Awesome job Santa!

Edit #2 11-20-2011: So I grab a cup of morning Joe (late night gaming!) and log in to see what everyone else is getting from their Santas. At log on I happen to see that I have a new message. Hmmm...what could that be?

In my Geekmail Mailbox I found:

Ho ho ho Paul!

Santa sees that his elves and reindeer from Amazon.com Pole delivered your first package today and that you were very happy to receive it. Santa is relieved because he was very torn between games for this first package!

Tomorrow Santa will temporarily be exchanging his red and white attire for brown and orange, but he plans on ordering package number two for your family tomorrow evening (so it will arrive before that holiday with the turkey).

Santa is taking advantage of free reindeer service from Amazon.com Pole to spread out the Christmas Geek spirit!

Keep an eye on your inbox for more friendly correspondence from your Santa.

Wow...another package? I am astounded adn don't know what to say other than THANK YOU! The gifts are well recieved and I hope that your Holidays are just as blessed. Thanks again whoever you are!

I opened a huge box... and was happy to see Savannah Tails! This game had been on my radar for a while and seemed like it had a wider audience than the Lamont brother's previous Tails incarnation.

I also got several other games I'd never heard of:
Limits
Krumble
Formel Fun
Panic Station
and Time's Up, which I have heard of before.

Thanks a lot, Bruce!

Edited to add:
Just opened the box for Formel Fun and found two other games inside!!
Adlungland, which I had given up hope ever getting...
and Land unter, which apparently is also Turn the Tide and was on my wishlist as well!
Very excited about these as well!!

Edited to add (again!):
My SS suggested I look inside Savannah Tails... and I found
Saboteur
and Chronicle!

Thanks a lot!

So I was playing Assassins Creed Revelations today and there was a knock on the door from FedEx I signed and thought "Wow my CoolStuffInc Order is here already?"

Low and behold when I opened the box I found TWO boxes!

After reading the cards I saw that it had the names of the games on them so I anxiously opened them and found:

Space Alert and Eminent Domain! I've read a lot about Space Alert and it looked super cool and I never put it on my wish list but know my group will enjoy it (You're so smart Secret Santa!) And I also got Eminent Domain which I am finally psyched to have my own copy of now!

Thank you Secret Santa for making my first Secret Santa on the geek AMAZING!

No news turned out to be good news from my Secret Santa! Just found a big box by the back door (thanks, FedEx?) and got a grin just as big when I saw it was from Thought Hammer. Ripped it open immediately and saw an expanse of gift wrapping. Oh yes cool

Opened it up and found the wonderful Summoner Wars: Master set, which really opens up the options for my friends and I, plus finally no more playing on the crappy paper mats!

But wait... this box is pretty big, it would be easy to miss little packages floating around in the peanuts... and sure enough, two little wrapped presents were in there as well.

Summoner Wars: Vanguard faction pack

and

Summoner Wars: Jungle Elves faction pack

The math geek in me immediately stopped and thought for a moment... Previously I had both the starter boxes, for a total of 6 different matchups, now I have 66! Plus enough options that no one should be accused of getting 'the broken faction' anymore LOL

Thanks, Secret Santa!

My Secret Santa was SUPER fast. I actually arrived home from a long day at work to notice a package at my door. Not to say I was super pumped. I had received early notice to NOT peak.

My wife scrubbed the box to confirm they were wrapped and the contents were wrapped and are both under the tree. (I know, tree is already up, but the games need a good home for the next 5 weeks)

Thanks Santa!!! Can't wait to crack 'em open Christmas morning!

Santa has come early this year in the form of a large package from my favorite online board game retailer, CoolStuffInc. I haven't had a chance to open it yet but I will as soon as I get off from work in the morning! I am very excited to see what Santa got me this year! I put a lot of variety on my list this year so I'm sure Santa had no problem finding some great games to get me! And since Santa let me know I could open the package whenever I wanted, I have no problem opening it before Christmas! I will post pictures and the game(s) I got in the next few days! Can't wait!!!

Edit:

Holy Guacamole! I must have been good this year because Santa rocked my socks off! I was totally surprised at what I got when I opened the box! First I grabbed The Resistance from beneath the first layer of packing peanuts then out comes Panic Station. This is fantastic! I didn't own any games in these genres and it was great to get two at the same time! But wait, there's more? Next I pull out Dust Tactics: Operation "SeeLöwe"! I've been planning on adding the Dust Tactics expansions to my collection for the past year and now I finally have one of them! But the box still feels like there is something left in it! The next game I find is Survive: Escape from Atlantis! and Survive: Escape from Atlantis! 5-6 Player Mini Expansion! I can't believe how thoughtful you are Santa for getting me both of these! This will definitely be played very soon!

Now there were still tons of peanuts left so I do one more feel through the box and I pull out Survive: Escape from Atlantis! The Giant Squid Mini Expansion! That's just fantastic! Now I can enjoy the game to the next level! My Secret Santa out did themselves and really made my second year doing this a real joy! Now I look forward to seeing how much my target enjoys their presents! I also have to give a shout-out to CoolStuffInc. They added a $5 gift certificate since my Secret Santa used their site to purchase games for the Secret Santa exchange!

Secret Santa, whoever you are, thank you so much and have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Christmas definitely came early for me this year. My son was born on November 15th (my first!) and the day after I came home from the hospital I got my Secret Santa gifts!!!

I don't know who my Secret Santa is, but man do I feel like I lucked out HUGE! Not only did I get A Few Acres of Snow, which was one of if not my most wanted game right now, but I also got:
Batt'l Kha'os

Which looks like a great 2 player quickie that I'd never heard of, and I also got:
Pacific Typhoon

Which I also was unaware of and I think it looks PHENOMENAL. Looks like a deeply thematic trick taking game that I can see getting a lot of plays.

The best thing I did was to suggest to my SS that I wasn't picky about my wishlist and that I'd be open to any games they thought I might like. Next year, I'm going to learn from my SS how to delight my target (I hope!) because this was just the best result I could have hoped for

So, I arrived home from a local one day convention that I run and I knew to be expecting a package. Santa loves to taunt me so. My son (10) was super excited to see a huge and heavy box. the wife encouraged us to open the wrapped games especially with the holiday coming up, so guess what? we did and I was and am totally shocked by Santas generosity.

In addition to Merchants & Marauders Santa sent these other awesome games:

Gears of War: The Board Game

Urban Sprawl

La Bataille des Quatre Bras

Thank you Santa!

Wow, Santa is laser-fast!

My co-workers were confused when a package arrived for me, as we're the ones typically sending out the shipments! I was giddy upon receipt, but waited until today to open it...

And within, carefully and beautifully wrapped by the nice folks at Godboma, was a copy of 7 Wonders!

Nice to add such a widely loved game to my collection I *know* it'll get lots of play, so excellent choice, dear Santa!

I just wish you left me *some* clue as to your identity. Sneaky elf...

My Secret Santa had contacted me early and to anticipate the arrival of a package this week. Twice a day, everyday this week, I checked my doorstep only to find nothing but fallen leaves. (I went home during lunch to wait on the elves' delivery).

I was sitting in my office today when I heard the doorbell rang. I heard my daughters scurry to answer the door. My youngest said, "Whoa, is that box for me?" I rushed downstairs and brought it immediately upstairs to my office/gameroom. My wife was getting ready for work and my kids huddled around me. We were all excited.

Without hesitation, I opened the box as fast as I could. I don't think I've ever been this excited since I was a kid. I dug my hands through the pink "S's" and pulled both wrapped items out of the box. They looked so gorgeous emerging from the foam. A few packing "S's" clung to gifts. Heavenly! It reminded me of those beer commercials, when a bottle is being pulled out of the cooler with water and ice dripping off the bottle.

Even though kids aren't interested in my war-games, they were just as excited. It reminded them that Christmas was just around the corner. It's funny how much they listen when they know Santa is watching. So far, I haven't had the need to repeat myself twice. "Clean your room girls." - and straight they go.

"Mom, why did Daddy get a gift so early?" asked my eldest daughter.
"Because daddy does good things for our country," replied my wife.

My Secret Santa told me I was allowed to open one and to save one for Christmas. This is the second one: *I can tell because the card says what game is wrapped. Played this game in my first convention (Strategicon 2011 - Gateway) and made a critical mistake during the tournament. cry I'm sure we'll have a blast with this on Christmas day.

Eminent Domain

So to my Secret Santa, thank you a billion times. Thank you for making my BGG experience a memorable one. I did a lot of "firsts" this year as a BGGer.

Semper Fi,
Mike G

While putting up our Christmas lights this afternoon, I noticed that Santa had left a package just inside our fence. Upon opening the box, I found a couple of gift-wrapped packages. I quickly put 'em under the Christmas tree and then finished puttin' up the lights. Since Santa didn't tell me to wait, I opened 'em tonight and found:

A Few Acres of Snow

This one was at the top of my list.

AND

Hive: The Ladybug

An expansion to one of my favorite abstracts.

Thank you very much Santa and Merry Christmas!

Oi, my first Secret Santa journey has been a strange (but amazing!) one!

Originally, I thought my Santa was on the slower side, because I had heard nothing from him. However, it turns out that Santa had sent me a package and someone had moved it from my porch!

Last night I was freaking out because I got a message saying the package had arrived on Thursday .. and it was currently early (2AM) Sunday morning! I couldn't do anything about it last night, but I did ask my family if anyone had seen the package.

This morning, I walk behind my house and someone had put the package behind my barbeque on the side of the house. Now, was this the FedEx man hiding it so no one would snag it or was it someone in my family moving it and then saying they didn't know? Not sure, but I have it now!

Without any note saying I couldn't open them, I tore into them and looked for their game-y insides!

Inside of the big box, Eminent Domain .. and a second present! Santa, I know the order slip said that it was for Santa's eyes only, but it said I was supposed to receive Battlestar Galactica and those crazy elves at Thought Hammer sent me Battleship Galaxies!

Thank you so so so much, Secret Santa! You've gone above and beyond and made my first Secret Santa experience one to remember! I'll definitely be back next year!
