Just added a new Secret Santa Poll . Head over to [geekurl=http://boardgamegeek.com/article/7924278#7924278]Week 2 Secret Santa Poll[/geekurl] to see how everyone is faring thus far in this year's event. And of course, add your votes!

ALRIGHT! It is time once again for the annual Secret Santa List, this time the 2011 Edition. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

Last year there were 1,437 unique entries spread over 58 pages. I'm curious to see how huge it grows this year. As a tip - if you go looking through the previous years' lists, please be mindful of which year you are actually posting your gift to. There have been multiple occasions of people posting a gift from the current year on the previous year's list. That would likely diminish the chances of your Secret Santa getting around to seeing it...

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

does a superb job using the data from this list to create his great statistical look at the hottest gifts of the season. This year's version of his list is located at:

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2011

Last year: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Want some for your stocking? Simon also runs a Secret Santa Sweepstakes which is located at:

This year: 2011 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

Last year: 2010 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

I told my Secret Santa that Board Game Warriors is my local shop where I game and (s)he could support them and save on shipping by shopping there and I could pick the game up directly. Late last week I got a message from Santa saying my gift was waiting for me there and I could go pick it up.

Well today I was able to make the SkyTrain trip out to New Westminster and low and behold a copy of Eminent Domain was waiting for me. I was also able to get in some shopping for my own target and will be passing those games on shortly with a few more goodies added in.

That's not all, a few days ago I got another message from my Secret Santa and apparently there is another game in transit to me! I haven't recived it yet but will update my post when it arrives.

Thanks for your generocity Santa, looking forward to getting this to the table soon.

Late Breaking Update:

I went to the post office today to pick up a package, inside was:
Panic Station

Been looking forward to this one; co-op with infectious traitor mechanic and a horror theme. My girlfriend has already expressed interest in playing it, a rare feat.

Thanks even more Santa!

Santa let me know to expect my gift any day now...a week ago... needless to say it was the longest week of my life...

but today... it finally arrived!

I was so excited! I reached for the nearest sharp thing and begin (carefully) hacking away...

An invoice and some packing peanuts!? Don't tease me Santa!

After clearing away some of the packing materials a wonderful game emerged!!! San Juan!!! I was so excited! I love Puerto rico and RftG so Santa really seemed to have done his homework on this one! He couldn't have picked better!

But what's this? Another game???

WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!! WALNUT GROVE?!?!?! I din't even know this was available here in the states yet!! Man, Santa, what a surprise! This game was very high up on my wishlist!

I was so excited I knocked the box over and spilled the packing peanuts...

Don't worry though, my dogs helped me clean up (most of the anyway)

Santa... you did a GREAT JOB! I cannot thank you enough! Thank you so much for all of the energy, time, and resources you poured into making this year's Secret Santa so amazing! I love both of the games already!

You have one happy little boy this Christmas!

Again, THANK YOU so much! A very merry Christmas from our family to yours!!!

P.S. My wife had a doctors appointment today, and I got to see pictures of our baby on the way and hear his/her heartbeat for the first time! It was an amazing day!

Amidst the packages from Amazon, full of gifts for my kids for Christmas...I found a package from a company I didn't recognize. Then I saw a message!

And inside I found a little treat! I've never seen one of these before, but I love it! So cute! While making dinner for the kids, my niece and nephew, and my dad (my mom works late on Tuesdays so I cook for Daddy, too), I kept spinning it on the counter!

Well since I hadn't been told no to, I had to check right? Make sure nothing got damaged during shipping. Totally innocent, of course. Right?

Shivering with excitement and anticipation, I pull out the packing...

And I find...

A $10 gift certificate to a gaming store!

But that's not all!

One of the top games on my wishlist! Murder Mystery? I love it! Train game? I love it! Yay!!!!! Thank you, Secret Santa!!!!! *tons of grateful hugs for Santa*

After opening the very nicely giftwrapped and wanted "Valdora",
there also was a nicely giftwrapped

And even a discount of 10% for my next purchase.

Thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks Secret Santa.

I got home from work today and a package had arrived. Then followed the confusion, "did I order someting?" Followed by the giddy "I bet it's Santa!"

So I open up the box and, yes!, it's a wrapped gift from my Secret Santa! I look over at my son and say "I wonder if I should wait to open it..." laugh

I ended up waiting a whole two, possibly even three seconds before I tore off the wrapper, and...I struck gold! Black Gold that is. I can't wait to try it.

Thanks Santa! meeple

Today, my FLUSPSL (Friendly Local United States Postal Service Lady) dropped a package on our deck with a loud THUMP!

I ran outside and saw a mention of Secret Santa!

Such an occasion would be amiss without including my daughter!

One steak knife later…

…we found…

Navegador!

Thank you, Secret Santa! It's been a top item on my list for a year now, but I just kept passing on it for some reason, so I'm very happy to have it as part of my collection!

Have a great Thanksgiving back here/home in California!

My secret santa gift arrived yesterday, and I couldn't wait to open it!

As you can see, it came from my fav online game store: Starlit Citadel. It included a lovely card, too, which hinted at the contents:

My wife arrived home before I did this evening and opened the box as she thought it was a package she was expecting today. Nope, not maternity clothes but 2 games I've been wanting. So I come home to her wanting to know "Why are you buying games off your Christmas list so close to the Holidays!?!?" We had a good laugh when I explained what it was.

WOW! Have been wanting this for a long time but my FLGS never has it and it always seems to be sold out online.

Also in the box:
Battlestar Galactica: Exodus Expansion

Another want that I kept putting off buying. More Vipers to paint! Thanks Santa!

I received this message today at work from my Secret Santa.

"see it was delivered. Hope you enjoy it (after Christmas, I hope. I know that your fine moral upbringing and solid resolve will prevent you from opening your present early.). Santa"

I was so excited I called home immediately to see if it was true, and yes, there was a parcel waiting for me

When I arrived home I found a package with TWO wrapped presents inside and a nice card from my Secret Santa. It was so hard to wait and not open them, but I did set them aside with the full intention to wait until Christmas because I do have a fine moral upbringing and solid resolve! I made two mistakes however. One, I left the presents out, on the counter in full view all evening, taunting me, making me wonder what's inside??? The second mistake was to ask my gaming partner in a moment of weakness if I should open them. Of course she said YES!!

My kids were saying, No! Wait!! And she was saying, Open It so we can play!
My husband was no help either... open it, he said.devil

What could I do?!?
I opened them and found World without End and Batt'l Kha'os!!
Thank you Thank you Thank you, Secret Santa! You are awesome!!!!

I can't wait to play them both

My Secret Santa was AWESOME!!!

For one, Santa helped me get my BGG account in order so that he could get a better picture of who I am and what I'm all about (not that Santa needs to use BGG or anything...He's SANTA!)

Santa gave me a tracking number and I was shocked to see 11lbs. of goodness coming my way! When I got home from work, the box was huge. I opened it up and the first thing I see is 7 Wonders - one of the items on my wishlist. Thank you!!!

Then I dig deeper and I find Puerto Rico! Holy Cow!

This game was not on my radar, but #3 on BGG speaks for itself. That's really cool - Santa has great wisdom...

THEN I dig further into the packing peanuts and find a wrapped box with a card on the outside that says I must wait to open it until Christmas and to enjoy the games I have now. I'm not one to make Santa mad (I'm still making amends for 2005), so I'm saving that box until the 25th. (As a side note, they taped every seam on the wrapping paper - not that I'm checking or anything...)cool

Here's a picture of all the goodness:

BEST OF ALL - Santa had one more game for me (which was not on my wishlist): Godzilla: Stomp!

Gee...How in the world did Santa know I was a Godzilla fan or that my favorite number is '5'??? whistle

(Yep - That's a Godzilla slot machine.)

Santa - I am truly humbled by your generosity. Thank you for your kind words and kind direction. I wish you and your extended family a very Merry Christmas! God Bless!!!

P.S. CoolStuffInc.com also included a $5 gift certificate! Another nice surprise...

UPDATE - 12/7/11
I don't know how, but my Secret Santa has outdone himself this time!!! I received an envelope today and inside was something I have actually been looking for, but it's no longer available: 7 Wonders: Manneken Pis

When I opened up this envelope I got a big smile on my face, nodded my head up and down and said to myself, "OK...That's cool!" I introduced 7 Wonders to my gaming group and it went over well. I began to look for the promo cards, but this is not currently available in the BBG store. How Santa got a copy of it...I'll never know.

Santa, you are the best and I will remember this Christmas for a long, long time!

UPDATE - 12/12/11
Not only do I have a SECRET Santa, but I have a SURPRISE Santa as well. Why? He likes giving them!!! I was expecting the small envelope (the Manneken Pis Promo), but Santa said a 'small box' should have arrived as well. Sure enough, I check the mailbox and well...I wouldn't consider it small!!!

Inside was two bags of candy, one of which was addressed directly to my wife Andrea, using her nickname of Angie. I honestly don't know how Santa figured that one out - kinda spooky! My wife is stunned at how much stuff Santa has already given us and now we get more!!!

There was also THREE wrapped gifts inside! Check it out:

The chocolates Santa gave us looked really yummy, and I wanted to have some of my wife's. Yeah...that didn't go so well. Sad Panda...cry

So I turned my attention to the three gifts. I only opened one at first, the long thin one because I had a real good idea what it might be considering the shape. Sure enough - JACKPOT: 7 Wonders: Catan

Santa just keeps blowing me away!!!

I contacted Santa to let him know I had received the package and that I had already opened one. He gave me the North Pole Authority to open the rest...The smaller one felt like it was a box of candy - maybe See's!!! (I love that stuff...) Yet another surprise! Not candy, but Wizard

Another game not on my radar. Santa's wisdom is awesome...I'm looking forward to giving this a try!

So the larger box had me stumped...I didn't think it was candy, but it was a strange size for a game. I opened it up and I let out a big laugh!!! Fantastic! It was 7 Wonders: Leaders

The crazy thing about this is that I was talking to Santa about how a friend of mine was going to get 7 Wonders and the Leaders expansion for Christmas after he played it for the first time with me. I thought, well, I can play with his copy of Leaders, and he can play with my Promo cards. Well, not any longer!!!

I couldn't wait to try out all my new 7 Wonders stuff!!! With my wife still enjoying her new found Christmas candy, who could I play with?!?!? How about my good ol' buddies, Godzilla and Destroyah!!! (I AM a Godzilla fan after all...)

A couple of things to note in that picture: 1) Godzilla is playing Catan Island, because, well, it's next to Monster Island. And he's just played a military card on me. Hmmmm, Godzilla on the attack. Why didn't I see that coming?!?!? 2) Destroyah stone cold stole my science card when I wasn't looking! Well, he is a bad guy after all...

On top of all of this, I STILL have one more gift to open! WOW!!!

As I told my Secret Santa (the best ever), I feel like quoting the Pet Shop Boys, "What have I, what have I, what have I done to deserve this?"

Santa, you truly are the best Santa ever!!! Thanks to some slick Scooby Doo detective work, I have a bead on your location, and expect a surprise or two coming your way! (Two can play at the 'SURPRISE' game...)

UPDATE - 12/25/11
The magical time had arrived as I opened up the blue wrapped gift. Inside: Stone Age

Yet another game not on my radar, but on the BGG top 25 list! My Secret Santa expanded my horizons with *her* gaming knowledge. Santa I hope you have the very best Christmas ever - and may your cats keep your house mouse-free (except for those abandoning the ship.)

God Bless!!!

P.S. And watch out for Leprechauns or Easter Bunnies visiting your house...

When I got home from work tonight there was a box from Amazon.com waiting at my front door. I didn't remember ordering anything so I rushed inside to open it. Inside was a box wrapped in golden paper and a message from my secret santa. The kid in me couldn't wait to open it and inside I found Discworld: Ankh-Morpork I've been wanting this one since I heard about it's release.

Since I get tons of packages at this time of year as I purchase stuff for myself and as gifts for others, unless my Secret Santa gift is wrapped, it gets revealed.

This year was no different. Today a package was opened to reveal this. It's an expansion that I've been hoping to obtain for quite some time, but it just never rose to the top of my acquisition list.

Either my Secret Santa didn't care to hide his identity, or his supplier didn't do a sufficient job of hiding it for him. So, thanks to

Thanks, Santa Jed!

I find it odd, but it seems that I'm a magnet for expansions in Secret Santa Exchanges. This is the third year in a row that I've obtained an expansion of some type!

GO CRAWL IN A CAVE! When not playing games.

This is my first Secret Santa and I've had a blast researching my target and reading the posts here. Now I have my own story to tell!

This morning my daughter was sitting at the kitchen table saying "ba! ba! ba!"
"Sheep" I ask,
"Ba! Ba! Ba!
"Black?" I ask.
"Ba! Ba! Ba!"
"Ball?" I ask.
"Ba! Ba! Ba!" She points to the door.
What other words start with B? "Bean?" I ask (one of our cats)?"
"Ba! Ba! Ba!" She points to the door.
Oooooohhhhhhh....
"Box!"
My daughter smiles and giggles maniacally. FedEx had come while I was in the other room.
It's here! It's here! It's here! It's here! The box is sitting under the carport just begging to be brought inside.
My original intention was to wait until Christmas until opening. I actually have some pretty strong will power, and I love opening gifts on Christmas. So, I thought I'd be one of the few to wait...

What's better than receiving a Secret Santa Gift? Having a wife who's just as excited as I am. "Open it," she said, "You'll get plenty of other stuff at Christmas, so why wait?"
"Really?"

I waited until after daily errands and nap time so the family could open the ba.

What's inside?
Power Grid

and
Power Grid: Russia & Japan

My daughter with the unopened box.

Displaying the gift.

My daughter showing off the expansion.

Me and my daughter fiddling with the resources, forgetting all about my littlest one falling over behind us.

To my Secret Santa: Thank You so much! This was a perfect choice. I've had my eye on Power Grid for a while, but it's never made the cut when I purchase my own games. There are just so many great games. Now it doesn't have to "make the cut" any more. My wife is also very excited by this game. We'll be turning on the Power Grid tomorrow.

Edit: Updated with a few pictures

First off, let me start off by saying that my Secret Santa was very good to me from the get go. He contacted me, let me know my package was on its way, and when there was concern over whether I would be home or not to get my package, he even gave me the tracking info to watch my gift come my way.

When I got the box, I was very excited because Santa said he had included something extra in the gift for my daughter Rilyn. Well I got a super cool expansion to one of my favorite games of all time, and Rilyn got a giant blue plush meeple...see here:

Secondly, my Santa contacted me with worries that his generosity was not great enough when compared to other gift givers. Well let me say, right here and now, that this dude:

Is a heck of a great Secret Santa - generous, kind, and good willed - and any of you would be lucky as hell to have him be your Santa next year.

Thanks a lot for the gifts my friend! You rule!

Thank you Santa!!!!!

My BGGSS not only sent me Tide of Iron, but also Wasabi! and Thunderstone: Heart of Doom (I know, I was suppose to wait till Christmas to open at least one of the gifts but I am weak willed and have the patience of a 5 year old)

I am completely blown away by your generosity and I am so excited to play these games with my family and friends this holiday weekend.

My Secret Santa was really quick off the mark. He also caught me by surprise by gifting me with two games which weren't even on my radar: 1955 and The Road to Canterbury. I knew nothing about either of these (pretty new) games, but some quick research reveals a couple of games with lots of potential. The Road to Canterbury in particular looks incredibly perverse & cynical, and funny. My wife is eager to play it; we just need to find the right 3rd person to get into the spirit of things. I'll bet 1955 gets lots of play between now and the new year!

Thanks for surprises, Secret Santa!

Got this note last week:

Do you hear reindeer?

Because they're bringing some elves your way to deliver gaming goodness. You should be visited twice by Tuesday. For one of the games all of my elves had forgotten how to make it, so I had to call in a favor from a cousin in California. He knew a guy who knew a guy... It's supposed to be brand new, but you never know with these guys. Also, one of my reindeer, Amazon, is bringing an elf to deliver a game on Tuesday. That is if I can get him to stop drinking egg nog long enough to make the delivery. Please let me know you get your packages by posting to the 2011 Edition of Look What My Secret Santa sent me... geeklist.

Merry Christmas,
Santa

And here are the results!

Not only did Santa get me the game at the top of my attainable want list, but a pristine, like new copy of this OOP game!! Plus a fun game I can play with my nieces and nephews I've been wanting awhile now to boot!

EDIT: I wanted to get his permission first about 'outing' him, but I am sneeky! I found out who my Secret Santa is and was delighted to find out it's someone I've met and traded with! So here's to a fellow SaltCon and Gathering of Strangers attendee!

That was fast! Thank you, Secret Santa!

One of my more anticipated games, and now I'm pretty much freed up to play it over the holidays, and provide a wish list to others as needed with no fear of collision.

I hope you have a happy holiday, and that you Secret Santa comes through for you!

So excited to find a box waiting on my door step. My first thought was to wait until the 25th of December to open the box, but after 20 minutes I caved. And what did I find, not one, but two items from my wish list.

20th Century is a game I've been so curious about because theme, art, and design are very important to me & I liked what I saw with this one. It's one I'm very happy to now own.

But I usually only get to play games for 2 so I had to throw a few on my wish list. Jambo is one I often borrow from a friend, and so am pleased to be able to play this whenever I want.

So my Secret Santa, well done, and thank you very much!

Dear BGG community and especially Dear Secret Santa,
Thank you! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I already got my present on Saturday one day after a message from Secret Santa.
I was very surprised when I got a message in my mailbox that a package could not be delivered and was given to one of my neighbors. Well
I immediately rushed over there and got my package. And inside I did not "only" find Civilization but also:

A very nice little Card game I could immediately play with my mother.
It plays really fast and still feels a little like Race for the Galaxy I appreciate it very much. Well and the rest of the Weekend I had to study the rules
for Civilization (it is even the German edition which I wished for kiss ) and than get my group together to play a Game or two.
It was very well received and the multiple path to victory will make sure that it sees a lot more plays. And than I forgot to add an item to
this geeklist so Santa got a little nervous that his Elves had send the package to the right recipient.
Well yes your Elves did it right Santa, thank you. Overall I give you

out of 5 Stars.
May the "Christmas Cheer" be with you all!

Ohh and one more thing: my Santa is the best of all of them
