Just added a new Secret Santa Poll . Head over to [geekurl=http://boardgamegeek.com/article/7924278#7924278]Week 2 Secret Santa Poll[/geekurl] to see how everyone is faring thus far in this year's event. And of course, add your votes!

ALRIGHT! It is time once again for the annual Secret Santa List, this time the 2011 Edition. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

Last year there were 1,437 unique entries spread over 58 pages. I'm curious to see how huge it grows this year. As a tip - if you go looking through the previous years' lists, please be mindful of which year you are actually posting your gift to. There have been multiple occasions of people posting a gift from the current year on the previous year's list. That would likely diminish the chances of your Secret Santa getting around to seeing it...

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

does a superb job using the data from this list to create his great statistical look at the hottest gifts of the season. This year's version of his list is located at:

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2011

Last year: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Want some for your stocking? Simon also runs a Secret Santa Sweepstakes which is located at:

This year: 2011 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

Last year: 2010 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

Xmas Gift Update!!

Oh my sweet lawks!!! It's only Indonesia in the package...

HUGE Thanks to my Santa, that's just amazing!!!!

[Pre-Edit]

Well, after some wrangling with the local delivery elves, my secret santa's gift has arrived!

Totoro is intrigued! First, Santa appears to have joined the occupy movement and moved to the USA temporarily, secondly, my lovely wife has banned me from opening the present until Christmas morn'!!! Oh the torture!

I shall have to obey the rules of Korvatunturi else my present may disappear!

This year my Santa was the typical mostly-silent strong type with no mischief. Today I got a notice from the post office that I have a package to pick up. The package contained a gift-wrapped box. Since Santa gave me no instructions on whether I could open it early or not, I decided to do so as I plan to use upcoming tax returns to get myself a game or two.

From my wish list and the shape and weight of the mystery box, I deduced the contents correctly.

Santa got me Agricola! It's been on my list for ages but our local "guild" has several copies so getting one to the table on our meetings isn't too hard. It's awesome to have my own copy now, though. Could try it solitaire to get a bit better at it.

He also included the Agricola: Farmers of the Moor expansion. I had indicated a desire to get the expansion in a bundle with the base game, so thank you Santa!

Tiny sidenote: Package came from Lautapelit.fi, and for some reason the contents weren't padded at all (so far all my purchases from them have had crumpled paper or packing peanuts). There was about an inch of space on all 3 sides. The giftwrap worked well enough, though.

My Santa, who was sunning on the beaches in Brazil, was very good to me this year. First off was Rallyman. I grew up in a racing family, so it is no secret that I LOVE racing games. This game has been on my radar for quite some time. It is so exciting to finally have it in my hands!

Then, my Secret Santa gave me a bonus gift; something not even on my wishlist, but I couldn't be happier! I got a copy of the Power Grid: Brazil/Spain & Portugal map. Here is what was attached to the outside of it:

My wife and I really enjoyed the extra personal touch to the gift.

Thank you, my Brazilian Santa!

Woo hoo! My Secret Santa gave me two games that I've had on my wishlist forever. I've literally held Rattus in my hands at least half-a-dozen times and like a good little boy put it back on the shelf. But no longer must I pine for it, for Santa has delivered it unto me!

And then to get Bibios too, which I've wanted to try since it was first published as Scripts and Scribes! I am so thankful to my awesome Secret Santa!

WOOT WOOT! Santa noticed my love for 2 player wargames and had his elves at FedEx deliver me a copy! I am pumped to try it out at my game meetup tonight! (After a pre-scheduled game of Twilight Struggle).

Quick Story:
I had just gotten off the plane from visiting family for the holidays, it's pouring rain and i get home and i see a box sitting on the front stoop...in a puddle, totally soaked through. So bad in fact it was coming apart as i picked it up. I saw the return address...coolstuffinc...OH NO!

I quickly tore peeled it open and saw that there was a wonderfully wrapped gift and card from my secret santa. The wrapping paper didnt seem too damp. Oh please let the shrink have no holes!

Sure enough, shrink was intact and protected the incredible gift. THANK YOU SECRET SANTA!

I received both Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game – Mission Pack 1 and Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game – Space Marine Pack 1 in a letter in the mail a day ago with a very nice note tucked inside as well. There was promise of another package on the way that had been outsourced too. Thanks so much Santa! I'll post back when the other box gets here!

Update: Received my other box a few days ago! I opened one of the small packages that was sent to the Dude. It was a light up key chain for pups! Perfect since we send him outside to an unfenced yard to potty and try to watch him through the windows. It's much easier to track him now.

I also opened the green gift, in the company of 3 other gamers as my card said. It was a copy of Ghost Blitz. I had never heard of this game so I was quite intrigued. Geistblitz is a reaction game where a card is flipped everyone tries to be the one to grab the correct item that is either pictured exactly or not represented at all. It is silly fun, especially when played as a drinking game like we did in round 2. Thanks Santa! One gift to go, but I've been instructed to leave that until Christmas.

Oh my! The awesome-ness of my Santa this year cannot be understated. We opened the remainder of the gifts from Santa when I got home today. Not only did we find a copy of Hey, That's My Fish! (FFG Edition: not on my wishlist, but really should have been) we found 2 awesomely crafted renditions of Jessica and myself. They are super cute and I'll post a photo as soon as Jess gets home with the camera.

But wait there's more! In a big hefty box from Boards and Bits I found the only gettable #1 on my wishlist (the other being Gulo Gulo). I had been wanting this game but not buying it myself because I'm cutting down my game budget drastically this year. Its one of those games where it makes you regret those actions immediately. The game in question is of course Eclipse.

I had wanted an epic civ game for ages now but had always avoided them because of how long they take to play. I knew I would never get them to the table. With a play time of 30 minutes per player I think Eclipse will get to the table often enough to work out quite well.

Thanks so much Santa! I've been blessed two years in a row with the best of the best as far as SS goes and I couldn't be happier! The pawns especially will be used by Jess and I as often as we can in the years to come (no more hybrid squirrel/rabbit transformers when I play Dixit anymore for me!)

Whooo, this year I have an awesome Santa!

I had just left town for a couple of days when Santa and Rudolph came. Santa was very kind to leave the gift for safekeeping with the local elves (postal system depot). A notification reached me the same day, result? A couple of days of anticipation... thumbsup

As soon as I was back in town I headed for the elves and got a big brown parcel.
No more than 1 minute home I couldn't wait and ripped of the beautiful wrapping as a little child and was overjoyed to find cyclades! Economy, war and minis! Who couldn't just be amazed by all details (and the kraken).

But wait, there was something else!
The wrapping was of as fast as on the first one and i found:

No Thanks!
Which seems to be a very fun filler/starter/ender game.

Have now read the rules and I am looking forward to test them!!

Thank You Santa (From England?)

Santa came early this year! Hooray!

Yesterday, I checked my front porch for packages and saw an unexpected--and large--package from CoolStuffInc. I love CoolStuffInc, but I wasn't expecting any large packages from them, so I got excited. Could it be that Santa's elves had found me already?

Yes!

I dug into the box and found Dominion: Hinterlands! My most-wished for item! Thank you, Santa!

As you can see, the cat would've gotten into the package anyway, so there was no point in waiting to open it.

But wait, there's more! I had to make sure there was nothing else lurking in all those packing peanuts, and when I dug through, I found the Lords of Winter expansion to A Game of Thrones LCG. Double-Santa-Awesomeness!

If not the cat, then the baby! It was much safer for me to open the box early.

Thank you, oh secretest of Santas, for the great games!

I know Dominion will hit the table this weekend (and probably stay there for a long while)!!!

NOT this game, but a nicely warped package arrived today.
Santa wrote me the 24 day countdown would start shortly.

So yes, I will wait until Christmas to open my present.

But then Santa wrote me:

Santa wrote:
Hi Mousey,

great to see my test package arrived. devil
Please open it now and you'll will understand what I meant with countdown.

So I opened the package:

The card reads that I should wait until December first to open the box.
Nooooooo, now I still have to wait 2 more days

Will update this entry on December 1st

edit December 1st:

OMG!!! it is an advent calender
there are 24 little presents, all numberd, inside the box!!

Inside present #1 I found parts of a lego boardgame:

My kids will love this!
I'll wrap this 1st one again and open it together with them (and #2) tomorrow. Will try to take pictures of all the little presents everyday I open them and add them to this post.
Thank you Santa!!

December 3rd:
As expected my kids love this too
From here on I'll just inset the pictures as I open the packages (starting with #1 again):

December 15th:
Another box arrived!

Santa already mailed me that "the main gift" was coming this week, and it did!
Will wait until tonight to open the box (and have checked everything inside is properly wrapped) and then put the presents under the Christmas-Tree.
Yes, I can wait opening these gifts, I already have my Advent Calender to keep me occupied

Evening Edit:
So we opened the box and here is what I found:

2 good sized boardgames, wrapped, that will go straight under the tree.
a Christmas card with really nice wishes.
The rules for Heroica: Fortaan, so my guess as to where the parts from the Advent Calender come from was right.
a bag of Haribo candy.
4 Kinder surprise chocolate eggs (with toy inside), but they were all peeled by the shaking in transit. But my guess is my kids won't mind

Just looking at all this I can only say: My Secret Santa is awesome!!!

Christmas Day:
OMG
OMG
I had 2 games on my wishlist listed as Must Have's. Apparently Santa couldn't choose.
Today I unwrapped Dixit Odyssey and Pastiche

Thank you Santa!

Got the afternoon off at school, did some math in the library, then came home to a notice in the mail. I haven't got anything else inbound (I'm a poor student) so I instantly knew what it was, raced down to the post office where the lady that knows me by first name said she had my package for me

Got home and cracked it open to find this beauty.

I'm excited! My favorite weight and length of game, and a highly rated one off my wish list to boot.
Also, somewhat relevant as I'm in school for power engineering and spend all day learning how to make steam.

THANKS SANTA!

It's here!
First off, my Secret Santa had taunted me beautifully.

My and my husband both participate in the Secret Santa this year and when he got his great packet last week I couldn't help myself but get SUPER excited for mine. I don't think I had this much fun waiting for presents since I was 5.

So today, through a dark and haily day came our postman with my surprise! They were beautifully packed (I wish we had a working camera) but the Invoice stated all the contents.. so my already weak resolve to wait with the opening for another 3 weeks evaporated. It was so much fun.

So to start with, I got Alhambra - the Card Game, which was a must-have on my wish-list. I love cardgames - and we had to play it immediately. It was tight, it was fun - I won. Perfect.

But, there was more!
Aton:
Great great great, because I almost exclusively game with my husband. We already tried that, too. One win for each one of us and we both know this will get replayed a lot, too.

Archaeology: the Card Game:

I was really happy seeing a Z-man Cardgame, also from my wishlist, as I had so far very good experiences with them. Of course.. we tried that too. By this point we were so happy that we laughed and squealed with excitement (well, I did), did voices and generally had a hoot. 2 wins for me, one for him.

Santa, you did great. Better than great: AMAZING! You made me really happy and for that I thank you.

I received a much desired Blood Bowl: Team Manager – The Card Game, JAB: Realtime Boxing, and keeping up with my now secret santa tradition, the Summoner Wars: Master Set!

Not only did my Secret Santa send some wonderful games my way, he also revealed himself to me to make sure it was ok he sent one more game instead of paying for gift wrapping. Who would refuse that offer?! Thank you so much:

Hi there! Follow my gaming exploits on Twitter (fehrmeister)

I was thrilled to receive this "Must Have" game from my Secret Santa! This is a game I've been dying to play ever since first hearing Goeff Engelstein talk about it on The Dice Tower. I haven't been so excited to try a new game in a long time.

I've even got a couple of plays of it in already, and it has not disappointed! I'll be writing more about it later, but suffice it to say that this is a very cool, unique game that will always have a place in my collection.

Thanks again to my Santa! Have a very blessed Christmas.

WOW!Look at what Secret Santa brought me. Late in the evening on Monday night one of Santa's helpers disguised as a USPS worker brought me Memoir '44 and Space Empires: 4X Both games were high on my wish list. But wait there is more. I also had some stocking stuffers.
There was also a package of card sleeves and four game tiles that I am hoping Secret Santa will let me in on what game they might go to. Perhaps Santa has one more present up his sleeve. Santa was sure generous this year. Thank you.

My secret santa was very nice to me. I rec'd two
great games from him. I promptly opened the box
when it arrived, thinking they were wrapped but,
lo and behold!, they weren't. I honestly can't say
I wouldn't have ripped open the wrapping anyway.

I have played Cargo Noir a couple of times and
decided I wanted to own it and now I do. I played
Insidious Sevens only once and knew I had to
have this one as well. My secret Santa has made
me a very happy camper. Thank you, Secret Santa,
whoever you are!!

Well, it arrived. After a few taunts from the ol' Secret Santa, I got home to find a package sitting on my stoop (w00t!). Some rain had gotten on the box so I had to check it for damages (I'm sure you understand).

Anyway, after being accosted by more packing peanuts than there seemingly should have been, I found the Carbon edition of Hive staring me in the face. I've heard a lot of good things about this, and I'm excited to try it out.

But wait! There's something else in there? Unpossible! After digging my way through more protective Styrofoam, I found this:

Er? Stone Age? Don't know much about this one. whistle But I enjoy the heck out of Rio Grande's games and there's a game night coming up so I can't wait to dig into it. Great suggestion, Santa! While getting gifts that you've put on a list is always fun, the ones that blindside you seem to be that much sweeter.

Finally, stuck to the bottom of Stone Age was a $5 gift certificate to CoolSuffInc.com.

Thank you so much, Santa! You rock! I hope you and your family have an excellent holiday!
