Just added a new Secret Santa Poll . Head over to [geekurl=http://boardgamegeek.com/article/7924278#7924278]Week 2 Secret Santa Poll[/geekurl] to see how everyone is faring thus far in this year's event. And of course, add your votes!

ALRIGHT! It is time once again for the annual Secret Santa List, this time the 2011 Edition. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

Last year there were 1,437 unique entries spread over 58 pages. I'm curious to see how huge it grows this year. As a tip - if you go looking through the previous years' lists, please be mindful of which year you are actually posting your gift to. There have been multiple occasions of people posting a gift from the current year on the previous year's list. That would likely diminish the chances of your Secret Santa getting around to seeing it...

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

does a superb job using the data from this list to create his great statistical look at the hottest gifts of the season. This year's version of his list is located at:

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2011

Last year: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Want some for your stocking? Simon also runs a Secret Santa Sweepstakes which is located at:

This year: 2011 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

Last year: 2010 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

WOW!!! I don't know what I did to deserve such an awesome secret Santa this year, but I hope he/she gets something just as nice in return! I had been wanting this game since I heard about it, and my SS really took the time to research the fact that I was a huge Flying Frog fan as well. There was a small slip up with another game that I already owned, but I hope my santa will be happy to hear that I'm paying it forward to another deserving board gamer who loves Flying Frog as well.

All in all, this was an amazing gift and I can't wait to have my group over for an all night nazi-fighting pary! Thanks so much and Happy Holidays!

Merry Expansion-mas!

As a Secret Santa neophyte in 2010, I had such a great time both Santa-ing and targetting that I had to come back this year (big thanks to my 2010 target for getting right into the taunts throughout December).

Year two has lived up to all my expectations and surpassed them. Santa has not only been extremely generous, but also exceptionally timely. His parcel arrived the day before my Graduation from Medical School, what a fabulous way to celebrate the end of my tertiary training.

Speaking of generosity, Santa was kind enough to give me not only

Dominion: Cornucopia

but also

Onirim

and follow these up with both
The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – Conflict at the Carrock and The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – The Hills of Emyn Muil

Thank you so much Santa, you have made my day and definately given me plenty to keep me busy until I start work at the Hospital next year.

Thanks again
Morgan (Dr. Morgan)

I actually received my Secret Santa gifts back in November, but wanted to wait until now to open and post. The first weekend of December just seems more Christmas-ish somehow. Now that they are sufficiently marinated in Christmas Cheer, I think it's time.

In the box! There was not one, but two(!!) presents from Santa!
(Dice from the elves at Fun Games Cafe?)

The Downfall of Pompeii is a game that I've been wanting for a long time. Just love tile laying games, all they were missing was - a volcano! Can't wait to play this over the holidays.

...And a bonus!
At the Gates of Loyang

I didn't even have this one on my wishlist, but Santa must have taken good notes during our cryptic conversations that centered around a popular [correction!] Rupert Holmes song, and deduced that this would also be something I'd like. Looking forward to trying this one out, too. Vegi-meeples for Christmas, can't go wrong.

Thank you, Santa!

I found a package on my porch this week and like many others thought "I don't remember ordering any games recently." When I saw it was from Amazon, I ripped it open to find two nicely packaged gifts.

There was also a nice little note saying "Dear Sandy, Merry Christmas and Happy Gaming! Feel free to open them up as and when you wish."

Of course since Santa gave me permission I opened up both packages and found Troyes and

Thank you Secret Santa for Troyes which has been high on my wish list for some time and for Alvin and Dexter! Thank you also for the notes via geek mail, those were great fun.

Of course being the curious person that I am, I determined Santa is also known as Nick Burns. .

Thank you St. Nick!

THANK YOU SECRET SANTA!

My secret Santa was an awesome silent ninja Santa, and man did he/she ever deliver! This post should reassure those of you that are worried about not hearing from Santa yet.

An hour or two ago I was astounded to receive Yomi PLUS expansion wrapped in a really cool Dungeons & Dragons bag. Stupidly, I didn't realize what it was or I would have saved it to put under the tree.

Believe it or not I recently ordered a copy for my sister-in-law's massive family for X-mas (I always buy them one big gift rather than a bunch of small gifts). I kept thinking about keeping it for myself and giving them something else like one of my used games haha. I couldn't stop thinking about this dumb game lol. I've wanted this since I very first heard about it.

I NEVER expected to receive something this generous. This was one of those, "Man, I would LOVE to get this but it will never happen," games that I added to my wishlist just for the heck of it.

I'm so happy that I didn't know what it was and opened it early. I've had a MISERABLE couple weeks. My father was hospitalized with dementia, my mother is ill, and I'm under incredible stress. Just a hideous mass of bad luck struck my family at the same time. This game is EXACTLY what I needed!

I'm going to learn this game tonight and see how many games I can play in one sitting. Enough writing, I'm off to crack open a bottle of Cabernet and learn my new game!

THANK YOU sir or madam!

I got a note from my Secret Santa that all sensor readings had indicated my present had arrived and was waiting for me at my front door!

Yay!

Except I was 3000 miles away at the time. I had to wait, anxiously, to fly home (barely making the connection) to get the package and to rip it open and gleefully thank my Santa for his generosity! Thank you thank you thank you!

In addition for the instructions of destroying the human race given by the larger present in the box, I also got a much-beloved party game:

Ultimate Werewolf: Ultimate Edition

And apparently my Santa took the time to look through my collection and fill in a couple gaps. Again, thank you!

Munchkin: Santa's Revenge

Munchkin: Waiting For Santa

Again, much thank you for the care and generosity of my Secret Santa!

yesterday I came to home very late after work with just enough time for changing my clothes and get some food before left for an overnight roleplaying and table games event, and I found this:

Oh happy day!! the gift from my secret santa has arrived!!! I almost fainted when I saw the custom declaration... inside this box came THREE games!!! i could not believe it, as I open the box I found this:

also i found a paper, I inmediatly read it thinking it will be a note from santa only to found it's a note from the store with details about the games... there is no surprise left so I unwrap the games (who i'm cheating? i was going to open them any way devil) this es what I found:

I can only say: WAW... and I mean it!! I was kind of expecting hive (it was the obvious choice from my limited wishlist: reasonable price and small for a reasonable shipping) but hive AND the mosquito expansion... AND power grid??!!! power grid is one of the best games i have ever played, and at this time it can't be found here (chile)

for a day I was speechless today I can only say: THANK YOU, I wish your SS meke you as happy as you made me.

I got a message from my wife in the afternoon telling me that I had received a package from Amazon. Being a prime member, we use Amazon all the time, but I hadn't remembered ordering anything recently. It took me a few moments of contemplation to realize that it must have been from my secret santa. Giddy with anticipation from my realization, the next 4 hours of work seemed to drag on forever.

I spent the time guessing which game my secret santa had chosen for me. "It's probably not King of Tokyo, since that seems to be out of stock at a lot of places. It couldn't be Catacombs because it was a very late addition to my wish list. Eclipse is probably too pricy..." In my mind, I had narrowed it to two or three games, all which I would have been happy to receive. Pleased with my deduction skills, I put secret santa out of my mind and continued working.

Then a thought hit me. What if my secret santa wanted me to wait until Christmas? Would I be able to endure the torture or would I quietly ignore his/her request? It was time to go home, and the inner conflict kept brewing during my whole commute home.

As I walked through the door, my 13 month old son ran towards me with a look of love and excitement. This is usually my favorite time of day, but today my mind was somewhere else. With my son clinging onto my legs, I eyed around the house, hoping to catch a glimpse of the package that had also been waiting so patiently for me. Aha! There it was on the table, the perfect size to hide its contents.

I picked up my son and made a bee line towards the box. If its size was no help, surely its weight would hold a clue. The shipping label said 3.83 pounds and with the box in my hands I could tell that felt just about right.

The evenings are when I'm on full time dad duties, so I decided to set the box down for now and return after the little guy fell asleep. I knew that cracking the seal on a new game would tempt me to neglect the baby and that wouldn't be fair to him.

After our regular bedtime routine, I ran back out to the dining room and once again picked up my treasure. Unencumbered, I pulled out my pocket knife and went to work opening the box. In just a few seconds it revealed its contents.

First, I breathed a sigh of relief that I wouldn't have to make the difficult decision of waiting until Christmas to open the games; they weren't wrapped. Then the excitement hit. King of Tokyo! A game I had ruled out, but perhaps the game I wanted most.

But there was more! Dominion: Cornucopia sat alongside King of Tokyo. A great expansion to a game my wife and I love.

I very much look forward to both games hitting the table tomorrow.

Thank you Santa!

Add to that chocolate bars (that won't get past the solo gamingshake) & a bookmark and a photo-magnet too & it was a proper box full of goodies.

Super-generous Secret Santa!

My Santa (who one of my kids calls my “Snowflake Buddy”) has kept up a steady stream of taunting, starting just hours after he received my name. He requested a defense of my standing on the Naughty/Nice scale to see whether I was gift-worthy, and was apparently satisfied with what he read, because word came through Geekmail that I would be receiving not one, but three (3) presents!

The first package arrived on a Saturday, the postman wheeling up to my house bearing an unexpected something from a mysterious comic book shop. Wha? Tossing the rest of the mail aside (bills? Bah!), what did we find, this Gift #1?

For Sale! After a quick read of the three paragraphs of rules, I proceeded to play four games in a row with my eldest two kids and their grandmother (who isn't a gamer by any stretch, but she really got into it). Then, in the evening, my wife and I came home from dinner to find the kids and their grandparents (non-gamers, mind you) playing again, so we jumped in for two more games -- 6p and 5p!

Two-word review: Smash. Hit. The kids love it, I love it.

Package the Second: On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, work cut everyone loose early to give us 99% a head start on the long holiday weekend, a bonus made even better when I find a big box stuffed between my doors, out of the rain. The contents:

Phoenicia! What a great, totally unexpected choice! I've been on the fence for a long time with a number of "civ-lite" games, and this looks like the one that will play best with two (important, since it's my wife's purple civ that I'll be competing with most regularly).

Package the Third: On Thursday, my wife sends me a text in the middle of the day -- "What's this?" Another package on our doorstep! In the hustle and bustle before dinner, we cracked the box and were stunned to find this:

What?! London and (and!) Glory to Rome?! Talk about unexpected -- two top-of-the-charts "must have" games for our library! Just... wow. That's just ridiculous. My wife is absolutely thrilled at the chance to play London, as am I. And GtR has been on and off and finally back on the wish list (the hype ultimately proved unresistable).

This has been a staggeringly "WOW" surprise Secret Santa. Truly amazing. My family is still boggling at the generosity we've experienced, amazed and humbled. These gifts will bring us a lot of enjoyment in the coming weeks and months. So again, and repeatedly, thank you very much, Santa!

I hope everyone enjoys their Secret Santa experience as much as I have this year. My own gift package is winging its way across the U.S., and I can't wait to read about my own gift recipient's reaction!

Happy Holidays, all!

Moltes gràcies to my Catalonian Secret Santa Claus!

Santa tells me this has been an economically challenging year. But I was still very fortunate to receive Innovation, a game that I hear is supposed to be fantastic! I'm really looking forward to playing it!

Thanks again Santa - and I wish you and your family a happy and healthy Christmas time!

Thanks Santa!! your the best!!

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WAS SENT TO ME BY MY DICE TOWER SECRET SANTA ... NOT MY BGG SECRET SANTA!!

The games were shipped by Boards and Bits and they had a note in there saying that the games were from my secret santa (my BGG secret santa) ... they made a mistake ... it was from my DICE TOWER secret santa ...

Not sure if I should delete this post or not so I am just going to leave it here for now ... ??

A wonderful Christmas... or the gutting of a Geek Wishlist

An incredible Christmas this year here on the geek. 7 games in all. What a super year to be able to share with all my friends.

A Few Acres of Snow

Top on my list this year.

Hansa Teutonica

plus the expansion Hansa Teutonica: East Expansion

Betrayal at House on the Hill

My daughter is over the moon about this one. I'm pretty keyed up myself over it.

Navegador

Another must have!

Tikal and amazingly Tikal II: The Lost Temple

All I can say is that I am stunned and awed by this year's event. I will try and uphold the incredible bar my Santa set this year.

Thanks Secret Santa! I love games with traitors and deduction. It also supports up to 10 players! This works out great because our Thursday game nights often sees 8+ people. I'm going to spend the rest of the day running through the rules, can't wait to play this! Thanks so much! Have a great holiday!

#####
EDIT

evidently I was premature on revealing. Today another packaged arrived. it was:
Arkham Horror: Miskatonic Horror Expansion

Very awesome indeed! Arkham Horror was one of my first boardgames. Whenever we play Arkham I always try to play the progression of the game out in my mind as if it was a movie or a book no matter how the game ends. This is a super holiday! Thank you so much!
