Just added a new Secret Santa Poll . Head over to [geekurl=http://boardgamegeek.com/article/7924278#7924278]Week 2 Secret Santa Poll[/geekurl] to see how everyone is faring thus far in this year's event. And of course, add your votes!

ALRIGHT! It is time once again for the annual Secret Santa List, this time the 2011 Edition. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

Last year there were 1,437 unique entries spread over 58 pages. I'm curious to see how huge it grows this year. As a tip - if you go looking through the previous years' lists, please be mindful of which year you are actually posting your gift to. There have been multiple occasions of people posting a gift from the current year on the previous year's list. That would likely diminish the chances of your Secret Santa getting around to seeing it...

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

does a superb job using the data from this list to create his great statistical look at the hottest gifts of the season. This year's version of his list is located at:

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2011

Last year: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Want some for your stocking? Simon also runs a Secret Santa Sweepstakes which is located at:

This year: 2011 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

Last year: 2010 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

Wow, I am tardy in listing this. I got this present the day I left town for Thanksgiving! Santa was quick! And I was thankful (see what I did there?) since there was a snow/rain mix expected in the Twin Cities and I didn't want to know what that might do to a board game inside of a cardboard box.

So I brought the package inside, lovingly gazed at it...and finished packing and left. I was determined to wait as long as possible.

Well, I got back from Thanksgiving and all sorts of crazy stuff was going on. Family issues, I started a new job, cleaning up the house for a big party. A not-so-small cardboard box wasn't forgotten but it was pushed down on the priorities list.

Well last weekend, after our party, I finally got time to settle down and open my package. Inside was a nicely wrapped box of considerable size. I considered putting it under the tree and waiting for Christmas...but since we didn't have the tree up yet I thought that was unreasonable. So off came the wrapping paper and to my delight and surprise I was holding Dominant Species in my hands!

It is a game that has really intrigued me but I would probably never have bought on my own. In other words...the perfect Secret Santa gift! Sadly I haven't had time to play it yet. The most fun I have had with it was opening the box and organizing the bits. Opening that giant baggie of wooden bits was like opening a second present! (I own the Wooden Cube Lover microbadge )

Anyway, life picked up again over the week and I finally have some slow time to make this post. Thanks so much Secret Santa! I love my present and I can't wait to play it!

Thank you so much Santa! I wasn't home when your elves disguised as FedEx employees arrived with my package, so the hot girl next door held on to my package for me until today. Little did I expect such a generous present.

Right on top was a game that I have had my eye for a while, Navegador.
I love exploration/colonization games and was looking for something with a little more depth than Endeavor, which I love.

Under that was a classic that had been sitting on my wishlist for years, RoboRally.
Great game, I am horrible at it, but once you embrace the chaos...

Imagining that was it I picked up the package to dump out the peanuts and dispose of the box, and discovered that there was something else underneath all the packing. This is one game that looks great but I was afraid to buy myself, the perfect type of game to get as a gift. De Vulgari Eloquentia
I love the artwork and theme of this game. I can't wait to play it.

So now I just need to finish out this semester, grrr, and then I can play with all of these early Christmas presents. Thanks so much Santa, your generosity is inspiring.

Merry Christmas Everybody.

In addition to taking the time to track down a vintage copy of Regatta, in excellent condition, my Santa got me Vikings

AND Dixit

I can't believe it. Even my wife left out a shriek of excitement as I opened Dixit.

Thank you, Santa, very much!

Have a very Merry Christmas!

Received a package from Germany yesterday, and my SS has been very nice to me this year as the parcel included two games. The first one was Navegador and the second was Troyes. I've had my eye on both games for a while now so I am happy that my SS could pull the trigger now that I was not able to do it. And then with two games!

And good luck with the fungus research, Santa (if I understood it correctly).

After a long geekmail conversation with my Secret Santa about why the Red Wings are better than the Blackhawks, He said my gift was on the way! And what do you know, I came home today after running some errands and there was a box on the doorstep.

He said I was free to open it so why would I bother to wait?

Upon opening I saw one of the hot new adventure games on my "must have" list...Mage Knight!

Being a HUGE Runebound fan, I simply love adventure games, especially ones I can kill time playing solitaire style. Can't wait to crack this open!

Thanks so Much SS!!

My secret Santa, still very unknown to me, started teasing me about a week ago and just two days ago he informed me about a package being underway. About a day later he told me that my neighbor took care of receiving the goodies!
After unwrapping I found three different sized gifts! I controlled myself for about seventeen seconds before I started unwrapping; only to discover:

The Pillars of the Earth

San Juan

Meuterer

So cool! Three classics to look forward to see them hit the table!
Thank you very much Santa!

As a side note, the game came from CSI which also did a good job of packing the game. So, thanks to them as well.

It appears my Secret Santa contracted out his elves this year as I got a wonderful surprise in the mail from coolstuffinc.com. I was all ready to rip into the present and see what I got until Mrs Coyote saw it. And then with a heart 10x too small she "asked" me put it under the Christmas tree with the other gifts until Christmas morning. So until then I just want to wish my Secret Santa a heartfelt thank you and I will update the post on Christmas morning.

UPDATE: I got Maria my number 1 "Want" game. Thanks a lot Santa. You rock!

Wow, Santa went all out this year.

I stopped by my parents' place earlier today, and sure enough there was a box with my name on it. I open it up and there was not one, but SIX wrapped gifts inside.

Unfortunately, I promised myself that I would wait until Christmas morning before tearing off the wrapping paper. Fortunately, the girlfriend doesn't have as much self control. whistle We'll see if the surprise survives her next visit.

Thank you Santa. You've definitely made my first BGG Secret Santa memorable.

It's my third participation and this year, I've been blessed with a very communicative Secret Santa. From day one of the Exchange I received many taunting messages now and then, which was really awesome. Last weekend, I received a big package containg 5 (!) wrapped presents.

4 of these packages had dates written on them telling me when I was allowed to open them and the fifth said "Open immediately", which I of course did instantly. It contained a box of gingerbread, which I ate allmost immediately. modest

The dates for the other gifts were Dezember 4th, Dezember 11th, Dezember 18th and Christmas Eve, so till now I opened two of them (No, I did not cheat, it's already the 11th in Germany right now ninja ) So there are two presents left, but due to their very specific box shapes, I am quite sure that I already know, what they contain...

Dezember 4th:
Sitting Ducks (Amigo Version)

This one was not on my wishlist, but Santa let me know beforehand that he allways likes to send some of his own favorite games as well. I've heard about Sitting Ducks before, but never got around to try it. It sure looks like an interesting filler and I'm eager to play it soon.

Dezember 11th:
Cabo

Another game that has not been on my wishlist, but in this case one I've never heard of before. It's a small card game and after my first glimpse I'm already in love with it's very colorful and vibrant artwork (Rainbow-Barfing-Unicorn!). After reading the rules, I think this could really be a hidden gem for me. Very eager to play!

Dezember 18th:
Friday

I'm not 100 % sure, that this actually is my present, as I haven't opened it yet, but that's the only game on my wishlist that fits the small square size of the present. I'll see next Sunday... Must be patient... must be nice...

Chistmas Eve:
Eaten by Zombies!

Not opened the present yet (of course), but in this case, I'm really really sure that my guess ist right, as I could feel out the Ammo-box-shaped gamebox through the giftwrap... I'm really excited about receiving this from my Santa, because it was one of the "Must Haves" on my wishlist and it is currently out of print. CAN'T WAIT!!!

So this was what my Secret Santa sent me this year, and I have to say that I couldn't be happier. I've been taunted the whole time. My Santa gave me some hints towards his hidden identity and I'm quite sure that I figured out his true identity. So a big soggy thank-you-kiss goes to:

My Secret Santa was so generous (shattering the minimum limit), I felt ashamed at how little I sent my target. My secret santa was kind of quiet which I didn't mind. He (or she) was nice enough to tell me where the package was coming from and gave me a heads up a few days before the package arrived. When I opened the box I was stunned by how much was in it.

Not only did I get Quarriors, but the box was packed with
Quarriors! Rise of the Demons

On top of the Quarriors tin was a little white envelope. Thinking it was a personal message from my santa, I found
Quarriors! Quaxos Promo Cards

That was more than enough for me, yet there was even more goodies hiding amongst the peanuts: the entire Chrononauts collection.
Chrononauts

Early American Chrononauts

Chrononauts: Lost Identities

Chrononauts: The Gore Years

The spirit of Christmas burns bright. Thanks Secret Santa

Along with Senji I also got a copy of Dungeon Lords. My gifts were actually delivered on the 23rd of November, but that morning I had left on a week long mission trip to a small, secluded town in West Virginia. Following that I left directly to go visit and do Christmas stuff with great grandparents on their farm and ended up staying with them for 9 days. I missed my gifts by a few hours and had to wait about 2 and a half weeks to see them. My Santa was very generous and I applaud him/her for it. Thank you very much.

I arrived home today to find a box waiting for me downstairs. My girlfriend was curious as to what it was, and I briefly explained the concept of the BGG Secret Santa to her. She said it was unfair that I got someone in Jersey, because I had to pay lots of postage, but the person in Arkansas wouldn't have had to pay nearly as much to get their gift to me. I then pointed out that AK wasn't Arkansas, but Alaska, which means some poor shmuck, I mean Santa, got stuck having to ship me something from the frozen north!

As you can see, my very thoughtful Secret Santa sent me an awesome box:

And lo and behold, it was full of peanuts! What an awesome gift! But it gets better:

Buried within the awesome gift of peanuts was a beautifully wrapped box, suspiciously shaped like a boardgame box. I briefly considered waiting until Christmas morning, but since the package had already travelled so far, I felt it unfair both to my Secret Santa and myself to restrain myself further.

I now eagerly await an opportunity to prove my loyalty to the crew of the Galactica with friends and hopefully my girlfriend (who hates Shadows Over Camelot with a passion but might be convinced to try BSG with me).

One final note: my Secret Santa put his name and address on the box, so I'd just like to say a big thank you to Richard, I'll send you a Geekmail message in the near future to thank you personally.

Huge thanks, Santa and Christmas cheers. I finally got to the post office yesterday (sadly there had been no time on Friday) to find this waiting. I've played it once and really enjoyed it, it's by one of my favourite game designers and it's a 'Must Have' on my wishlist. But that's not all...

..was also in the box and that's very generous. Also a great game that has lurked on my wishlist for a couple of years. I'm a big worker placement fan. And with Carson City came...

..the Indian expansion that I played with the first time I played and missed having in the game on subsequent occasions.

So, once again, a HUGE thank you to my Secret Santa and to his helpful elf, Tony, from St Neots. (BTW I used to live in Riseley, just west of St Neots, so I know the area very well)

And big thank you to my wife, for letting me open the presents before Christmas Day this year!

I've received one of the games that has been on my wishlist for a long time: Napoleon's Triumph. I've played Bonaparte at Merengo a couple of times, and followed the designer diaries for Napoleon's Triumph when it was announced. I figured I wanted to own one of these two games, but I couldn't decide which one. Guess the choice has now been made

I'm hoping to try this out soon. Thanks Santa!

Thank you Secret Santa!

I had heard a few cryptic messages from my Secret Santa which mentioned that he was having some trouble finding something in his sack of goodies. That had me a little worried, but I knew I would be happy with whatever he could find.

Coming home from work, I noticed a box sitting by our front door. What was this? My wife and I are expecting our first baby in the end of December, so we had been getting a steady supply of boxes and goodies shipped to us. I immediately assumed it was more baby-related stuff and set it aside.

It was my wife who noticed that the label was from some game store. Although I've already been thinking about what games to get for the baby (gotta think ahead!), I hadn't ordered anything yet. A lightbulb clicked and I realized this was my Secret Santa gift!

I resisted for a couple of days, keeping myself busy cleaning the house and running errands, but the box sat there taunting me. Finally, my wife decided to open it to get rid of the suspense. The box contained...

...Le Havre! This was at the top of our wishlist. We've really enjoyed Uwe's other big games Agricola, At the Gates of Loyang, so we've been eyeing this to fill out the trilogy. I didn't realize that it was out of stock at most stores, which explains the trouble our Secret Santa had. Thank you Secret Santa for going to such great lengths to find this! Thank you, thank you!

Thank you Santa! I just picked up my Christmas present from Eastside Cards N Games. The owner came marching out with Defenders of the Realm and the Dragon expansion. My jaw hit the floor, it was completely unexpected. Thank you very much for being so generous. I will be spending this Christmas with my 3 yr old daughter, and this will be the only present under the tree for Daddy. Thanks again.
