Just added a new Secret Santa Poll . Head over to [geekurl=http://boardgamegeek.com/article/7924278#7924278]Week 2 Secret Santa Poll[/geekurl] to see how everyone is faring thus far in this year's event. And of course, add your votes!

ALRIGHT! It is time once again for the annual Secret Santa List, this time the 2011 Edition. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

Last year there were 1,437 unique entries spread over 58 pages. I'm curious to see how huge it grows this year. As a tip - if you go looking through the previous years' lists, please be mindful of which year you are actually posting your gift to. There have been multiple occasions of people posting a gift from the current year on the previous year's list. That would likely diminish the chances of your Secret Santa getting around to seeing it...

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

does a superb job using the data from this list to create his great statistical look at the hottest gifts of the season. This year's version of his list is located at:

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2011

Last year: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Want some for your stocking? Simon also runs a Secret Santa Sweepstakes which is located at:

This year: 2011 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

Last year: 2010 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

I just received my SS presents for this year. It was a copy of Sid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game – Fame and Fortune, one of my favorite games. Last Christmas we played Civ like 10 times, one session was memorable: a 4 player game till 6 am on the very 24th of December. Now I must take the base game and its newly received expansion to Mexico City to play it with all family

Also, my generous SS sent me a copy of another expansion:

I have never had the chance to play Runewars but certainly I will these hollidays. Although I never played it, I consider a waste to have those wonderful heroes and not able to use them as combat leaders. This expansion fixes that and adds lots of new great figures for all 4 factions.

Can't wait to play them. Thank ypu very very much Secret Santa, you were truly great this year!!!

Santa came through as only he can!

After buying TWO copies of this game (one for Mom, one for Mom to give to sis), I was left without my own copy and my wife was unaware the expansion was even available. (I know, my own stupid fault.)

But Santa's elves are industrious and well-informed folk. Thank you!

In addition, Santa came through with a game which he suggested would appeal across ALL groups of gaming partners (the wife, the kids and the youth group). Enter...

Eruption

Yes! Perfect choice for universal appeal. Well done Mr. Claus! And thank you again for your thoughtful gift-giving.

Thank you!

I have been eagerly reading the non-spoiler info on this game, but my willpower to resist spoilers was wearing thin. Now I don't have to spoil anything!

Also received 7 Wonders: Leaders!

Unexpected but much appreciated. Now I have a good reason to get the main game back on the table.

Thanks Santa!

After a few weeks with no word from Santa whatsoever, my girlfriend was getting worried. My overseas target got their gift, so I would have been satisfied with that for quite some time.

Lo and behold, a box from www.germangames.com was sitting at my door when I returned from work today. I had never held any illusions about waiting if my gift arrived early, and I proved unable to do so for more than about 5 minutes.

Inside were THREE titles!! All from my wishlist!! The aforementioned Dominion, Small World (along with the Tunnels expansion!) AND Glory to Rome!

Should be a great gaming Christmas. Thank you so much Santa - your generosity knows no bounds.

Merry Christmas to all!!!!

My secret Santa was kind enough to send me a copy of Furstenfeld which I've been eyeing for a long time since I'm such a fan of Friedemann Friese.

Santa was extra generous and also tossed in a copy of:

This has been on my wishlist for a long time after playing it once with friends a couple years ago.

Um, wow. I am really not sure what all to say here. A very large box arrived today and once all four kids got done with homework, we opened it as a family.

From the start, it was kind of creepy. I first came across a card, which was opened first. It had a gingerbread man on it. This immediately caught my wife's eye. Were you to come to our house during this time of year, you'd have sworn that the Gingerbread Man threw up all over the house as my wife collects gingerbread items and the whole collection comes out at Christmas time. laugh

With the card was the above expansion for Zooloretto. Now, I have to admit that I'm a bit of an expansion junkie so this was an awesome way to start my gift unwrapping. Inside the box I found 4 wrapped gifts. Four?! That cannot be right!! How funny that I have four gifts; one for each child to help me unwrap. Santa really knows his stuff!!

First up was the youngest, Elise. She picked a medium sized gift and we tore into it. Inside was Carcassonne: Hunters and Gatherers. Wonderful!! My wife and I love playing Carc but I've always heard this is one of the better ways to play 2-player Carc.

Next up was my son, Luke. He picked the smallest package and inside was Carcassonne: Bridges, Castles, and Bazaars. Awesome. One more expansion for Carcassonne that I've just not gotten around to buying but always look at longingly when I go to the game store.

Now we were to Emma, the younger of our 12 year old daughters. She wanted to "call" the gift wrapped in the penguin paper at the beginning of the opening session and as luck would have it, it was still unopened. As we unwrapped the box, we found Zooloretto Mini. WOW!! I've really wanted to get my hands on this but RGG never decided to pick up the US distribution on it so I never thought I'd see it in my collection. So very cool!! Her immediate response: Can we play it tonight?!

Finally was my oldest daughter, Alexis. She was left with the largest of the packages which was beautifully wrapped with an amazing bow. She immediately laid claim to the ribbon after we had untied it and then went about tearing the paper off. Inside was an expansion I've been wanting ever since I read about it: Ticket to Ride Map Collection: Volume 1 – Team Asia & Legendary Asia. With six people in the family, it's sometimes hard to get all of us in one game without people having to team up. With this expansion, you can play with teams!!! So perfect for this household.

In all, I cannot express how awesome my Secret Santa has been to me and my family. Since they are primarily the people I play most games with, getting 5 great additions to add to some of the most played games in our collection was a wonderful Christmas gift.

My wife called me while I was at work, taunting me with the news that a box that looked like it came from my Secret Santa had showed up on our doorstep. I couldn't wait to see what Santa had sent. Right after the targets were assigned, Santa sent me a note saying that I was under surveillance to see whether I was being good. I tried, but wasn't sure if I had been good enough to live up to Santa's standards. Fortunately, Santa has pretty laid back standards!

I opened the box and found two packages, one which had a small, wrapped, card sized packet attached to it. Since we were going to be traveling over the holidays, we opened the packages. The first package contained Aton, a game that I had heard of, but always ignored because of its dull name. A quick BGG search showed that it was a well respected two player game, which will be perfect since most of my gaming is 2 P with my wife. Looks interesting and I can't wait to try it.

I was tipped off to the contents of the second package when I accidentally ripped the small package and saw a card with the letters O-M-B-S visible. Sure enough, it was Catacombs and its mini-expansion! Awesome job Santa! Out of all of the games on my wishlist, this was the one that I was rooting for since It looked like so much fun. My wife, more a sci-fi fan than fantasy fan, was a bit skeptical, but since she likes Crokinole, was game for trying it out. Well.....big time success! After two games, we both love it. We were figuring that it would be a goofy beer and pretzels style game, but the different skills and items had us planning out moves more than we had expected. Two games so far and we don't want to pack it up. This will get a lot of play.

Santa, thanks for the awesome game! You rock!

Jim

Wow! That is all I can say about this years Secret Santa experience. I can honestly say that my Secret Santa went above and beyond the call to make this a fantastic experience.

My mother in law let me know that a priority package had arrived while she was home with the kids. With a knowing smile I had a look at the slip and was disappointed that I would have to wait all the way to the next afternoon to pick it up.

I woke up in the morning in anticipation and waited until noon before I gathered up the kids and we went on down to the post office to see what lay in store. After waiting a bit in line the lady brought out a decent sized parcel with a good bit of weight to it. There was a small customs fee to pay as it seemed to have been sent from the States. I gladly paid it but was a little uncertain if this was in deed my anticipated BGG Secret Santa gift. That was until I seen the description on the customs form as Game Board. My smile was back.

The drive home seemed a little longer with a large box of what appeared to be games sitting beside me. We all rushed into the house to see what might be inside. We threw our coats in the corner and placed the box on the coffee table and ripped it open, to discover...

alot of Styrofoam. And then...

Eminent Domain fresh off of my updated Wishlist. An excellent Secret Santa gift. But wait, there is more...

Innovation and an expansion for Eminent Domain! Another great game I was very interested in. Well that is more than enough for this year. How come this box is still pretty heavy? I wonder if there is something else in all of this styrofoam...

Alright this is just getting crazy. All that talk on the Dice Tower had me looking forward to the Ares Project. Thanks Secret Santa! What is this? Ballast for shipping...

Kingdom Builder was buried in the bowels of the box bringing the final total of 4 brand new games and an expansion! The final haul of 2011. The best Secret Santa or what!

My kids anxiously waiting to play with the empty box and all of those white bits of fluff. They thought that alone was the best present of all!

Merry Christmas and a whole hearted thanks to the best Secret Santa of 2011!

P.S. My wife really likes her 'antique' couch. It grows on you after 6 or 8 years :-)

So I asked Secret Santa to check both my and my girlfriend's wish lists as she helped me extensively with the three exchanges I signed up for (BGG Secret Santa, RPGG Secret Cthanta and The Tavern exchange - which is RPGG's version of Chit Chat).

So my Secret Santa did his/her research and found a game that was on both our wish lists! We would have been perfectly happy with just the one game, but Santa was generous and tossed in another game!

I still don't know who are the NinjaClaus, the mysterious Santa who sent me this dominion expansion. But, I would like to thank him - or her. My Dominion pile is now complete again. For a couple of months, I presume.

This was in the 'Love to have' section of my wishlist but I didn't expect to get it because it wasn't available until a week or two after the targets were assigned.

I also got Get Bit:

While waiting for Secret Santa gifts to arrive, you don't really want to buy anything off your wishlist.

The very day these gifts arrived, i was playing with my online cart at Thoughhammer, thinking about what I might put in my next order. Both A Game of Thrones and Get Bit were in my cart because I thought the odds of getting them from Secret Santa was pretty low: AGoT was such a new release and I have 60+ games on my wishlist (including a dozen low cost games) that Get Bit was unlikely.

So I am very enthused about both of these games.

But the pièce de résistance: I was asked by Santa about tuckboxes but I don't really use them. However, I thought about it and suggested some Bloodbowl Team Manager boxes made such that the team side could be placed faced down to choose random teams or face-up to select specific teams.

They turned out great!:

This was my first BGG Secret Santa and I couldn't be more pleased with my gifts!

My obsessive daily checking to see if my secret Santa vict...ummm.. I mean, target... has received their pressies made me forget that I was expecting a package myself! (Still concerned about my target, since the game company in question didn't give me a tracking number and it is an oversees order.)

Santa must have arrived at my house late yesterday... When I left to get the eldest daughter to school this morning, there was the frozen package waiting patiently for us at the door. Poor thing had to sit out all night with the rampant wildlife.

We shoved it in the house and my wife demanded it be opened immediately. (I know, she's a treasure.)

Beneath the edible packing fluff, I first discovered Stone Age, one we have been wanting to try for awhile now. And in the depths underneath, Discworld Ankh-Morpork!! Weeeeee... CMOT Dibbler couldn't have delivered a better treat.

Thank you, Secret Santa.. It's already a great holiday season!

I got a game I've had my eye on for a while. I opened up the box and gave it a play that night. Tons of fun!

My Secret Santa also sent me another game.

Catacombs I've been wanting this one for a while as well. Can't wait to try it out!

I'm so sorry Santa I couldn't wait! I pulled out my wrapped present with card and took about 10 seconds to ponder if I should wait until Christmas, but my husband said "go ahead" and that was all I needed! We will definitely be playing this soon! What a wonderfully festive selection! My son loves Ticket To Ride so he was super excited this was my gift. Thanks Santa!

Santa does exist. He also has told me "All good geeks wait till Christmas to open their gifts." So I must wait. I do have a idea of what it might be tho.

Edited Jan 1st.

I opened this on Christmas day, just getting on here now to log my gift.

I received as I guessed it was Merchants and Marauders , As well as a nice surprise smaller gift of Ultimate Werewolf expansion artifacts.

Thanks SS who ever you may be.

Came back home from visiting friends in Oakland, CA, to find a package from Amazon awaiting me. Upon opening it I found a gift from Santa! He sent the game I had at the top of my wishlist!

Wow.

Just wow.

This is a game I've wanted for years - I had given up hope. I'd even forgotten it was on my BGG want list. You know, one of those whims that I had played years ago but then it went out of print, and I never could pick up a copy.

Then I open up my Secret Santa box and just...joy!

All I can say is,

THANK YOU SECRET SANTA.

Look what MY Santa has brought me for Christmas...

After a bit of taunting a loooong time ago

Quote:
Subject: From the North Pole
Well Well Well my friend. It seems that you are lacking in gaming, hmmmm. I wonder WHATEVER I can do to help. Perhaps a little Ameritrash? Or maybe a nice Euro?

Ohhh dear me, I dare say that you do not know WHAT I will do. Prepare for just a HINT of madness.

I finally got a second message last week
Quote:

Subject: Preparing to Fire
Orbital Gift Cannon power-up sequence enganged:

Trajectory Confirmed

Target:

[deleted my address]
Quote:

Locked.

Awaiting Confirmation by Ground Team.

"The way home is blocked by silver men"
"Additional forces are needed"
"But the home you return to"
"May not be the home that you have left"

And today this package arrived all the way from across the pond

Now all that's left is waiting.

Thank you dear Santa for making me feel like a 6 year old again.

...
...
...

We unpack our presents on the 24th! Yes!!

Lucky to be German.

Lots of packaging peanuts when I opened the present...

After some digging

Wow Arkham Horror. Great, always wanted to play this.

But was is that? There is more...

Battlestar Galactica: Pegasus Expansion? I must have been a very good boy or must have had a very generous Santa.

My Santa has finally decided for Ameritrash - and I mean that in a good way.

Fits perfectly into my Games Collection

Thanks for everything
Torsten

Edit spelling
Edit2: I have unpacked now
