Just added a new Secret Santa Poll . Head over to [geekurl=http://boardgamegeek.com/article/7924278#7924278]Week 2 Secret Santa Poll[/geekurl] to see how everyone is faring thus far in this year's event. And of course, add your votes!

ALRIGHT! It is time once again for the annual Secret Santa List, this time the 2011 Edition. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

Last year there were 1,437 unique entries spread over 58 pages. I'm curious to see how huge it grows this year. As a tip - if you go looking through the previous years' lists, please be mindful of which year you are actually posting your gift to. There have been multiple occasions of people posting a gift from the current year on the previous year's list. That would likely diminish the chances of your Secret Santa getting around to seeing it...

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

does a superb job using the data from this list to create his great statistical look at the hottest gifts of the season. This year's version of his list is located at:

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2011

Last year: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Want some for your stocking? Simon also runs a Secret Santa Sweepstakes which is located at:

This year: 2011 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

Last year: 2010 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

THANKS SO MUCH SECRET SANTA! YOU WERE AWESOME THIS YEAR!

I received the gift early but held out until Christmas Day, mostly because the BGG Secret Santa gift is the only wrapped gift I get for the holiday!

Anyway, as well as picking up on my need for solo-play games, SS also sent me Martian Fluxx (because it's martians!).

Unfortunately, we are short-selling our house and timing couldn't be worse with the holidays. Paperwork this, paperwork that, get this, fax that, email this.......so I haven't been able to play it yet and just now remembered to post here on the list!

Good news: First week in February my kids are going to band camp (bagpipes, Scottish snare drum, fiddle), and since my daughter is under 16 and they don't have chaperones, I HAVE to be on site (oh darn). Which means I get a room, 3 meals a day that I don't have to cook, and most importantly, TIME. Oh yeah. I look forward to this week every year, it's a beautiful place on the water near Hood Canal in Washington State (where I live) with walking trails, gorgeous scenery, and free coffee. I'm taking Space Alert and Martian Fluxx with me as well as some other games, and after classes are done for the day(s) I might even be able to get a group together for some gaming in the main lodge!

Forgive me Santa, I'm late! I have few excuses, except that when I got your package in November I was on vacation, and then was busy with the holidays, then was excited about my pregnant wife and getting her decent care.

We had a chance to open and play this gift from you last week and had a blast. Money is everywhere! I won with a few lucky draws, but it was an interesting game the whole way through! The structure of the "expansions" is a little bit confusing for me, but not unacceptable. Thanks so much for this again Santa!

Santa also sent me, Starship Catan

I haven't gotten it to the table yet, but it is on the plan for this week! I'm really looking forward to it!

Once again I was fortuitous enough to have a fantastic experience in the Secret Santa. I recieved an early message from santa letting me know that a package would be comming but the elves were having trouble getting some of the critters into the box so it would be a little delayed. I was savvy enough to pick up from these clues that Dungeon Petz would be arriving at my door once it made it to the states. But Santa wasn't done there. To tide me over till it arrived, he gave me a puzzle from his eleves:

Quote:
My gnomes also have something that they wanted to pass along. I can't make any sense of it, but perhaps you can:

נ: 347
ג: 348
ה: 361
ש: 348

It was really nice to see that Santa had a multi cultrual workplace, but sadly I was lost with the puzzle and had little time to work on it with Law School finals. But a few extra clues later and I learned all about Tanga Numbers (http://www.tanga.com/forum/blogs/tanga-number-explain) and my Santa learned that there are different ways of counting the letters in the hebrew alphabet, depending on if you count the ending letters and some of the different voweled letters. Armed with the rosetta key that my santa's gnomes had used to make the puzzle (and the exact mechanics of how it worked) I was able to figure out the solution was:

Beowulf: The Legend

Santa confirmed it, but that still didn't mean I was closer to actually understanding what it meant. It wasn't a game on my wishlist and I couldn't think of what it might be refering to. It puzzled me for a bit but I figured it would all make sense when the package arrived. Well the package did arrive and it was well worth the wait. not only did santa send me Dungeon Petz, but he also sent me:

Dungeons & Dragons: The Legend of Drizzt Board Game

I can't say how excited I was to see this. I really like the system after playing Castle Ravenloft but hadn't gotten around to picking up this or Wrath of Ashardalon yet. Both were on my wishlist and not having played either or really knowing anything about the characters in Drizzt, I actually had a Wrath of Ashardalon a little higher on my wishlist. It's like santa could see into the future because since making the wishlist, I got the Icewind Dale trilogy by R.A. Salvatore out of the library and after really enjoying it I've been jonesing to play with the characters. Not only that but a game store had a used copy of Wrath of Ashardalon for half off that I couldn't pass up. I figured I could always list it on Ebay or trade it if I ended up duplicating Santa's efforts. Instead Santa got me the one I ended up wanting more completing my collection of the three! I got to play a solo game of it yesterday and squeeked out a nail biter against a feral troll blocking my way out of the underdark. (I wasn't actually able to kill the Troll, I just ran away and let him chase me until I could get past him and I still only made it out with one hit point left.) Great Fun! Of course having prophetic vision and great generosity wasn't enough for my santa because he also sent me:

Citadels

I've been eyeing Citadels for years ever since I played a 6 player game of it at a game night meetup. I really liked the game but never picked it up because I don't often get more than 3 players for gaming in my usual group and it seems like it really plays best with 5 or 6. Again, Santa seems to be prophetic though, because it came just in time for me to bring it to my brother's party tonight where he is expecting no less than 8 people. I'm pretty sure We'll playing it tonight since it is a great game to play with people who are relatively new to gaming and a few of tonights atendees are.

Of course I still couldn't figure out what the Beowulf: The Legend clue meant. the game wasn't in the box and didn't seem to have anything to do with the pure awesome that was in the box. Then I realized that "the Legend" was also part of name of "The Legend of Drizzt." Santa must have been subtly trying to tip me off about what else was on it's way along with Dungeon Petz. a tenuous connection but the more I thought about it the more it made sense. (mostly because I couldn't think of anything else.) But then after letting my santa know I got the package he told me it had nothing to do with the games he sent me. Staring puzzled at my computer screen it finally struck me that there was a much greater mystery involved in this whole affair then what games were being sent to me. I've always taken the annonymity of Secret Santa as a given, but in that moment I realized that not everyone else does. A quick BGG user search brought up 20 some odd users with Beowulf in their BGG name but the first one I clicked on had a personal welcome message for me in his profile. So a really really big hearty thank you to

Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.

I have to say this was a great year for secret Santa. I got a great PnP game. THen my BGG santa sent me a great haul of loot. I got Urban Sprawl. I have been really looking forward to this game. I am excited to get a group together to play. I also got Ultimate Werewolf and the Artifacts expansion. This was huge for me because I get a lot of plays this and it will allow me to leave my old copy at home for the kids. Also included was a copy of tiebreaker my wife and I have been using this to settle dish washing arguments. Finally a copy of perpetual motion machine which also looks like a nice little game to play.

I want to say Santa you did an awesome job. I truly appreciate it. I cannot wait to play all of these games and I must say this has been great. Thank you so much.

Man, I get worse and worse at this every year. I had completely forgotten about Secret Santa. And then last week my gift arrived.

Good news! My Santa was awesome. He sent me three games all of which will get played in my house. A great gift! It included not only Show Manager but also FITS and Frank's Zoo! What a great Santa!

Bad news. Receiving my gift was a great reminder to me that as part of forgetting about Secret Santa, I had forgotten to send out a gift of my own! Egads. So, I am resolving that today. I will be sure to be similarly generous, especially since I am very late!

Thanks! Hope everyone had a great holiday!

Dear Santa,

Thank you so much for participating in this year's annual gift exchange. Life has been incredibly hard for me since March and I was not really looking forward to Christmas this year. I know things will get better, but it is hard to believe that it will.

Against all my "rules" I opened your gift early. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgameexpansion/92539/7-wond...

The thoughtfulness of including the expansion AND sleeve protectors knocked my socks off (hard to do...just moved from sunny Florida to cold Minnesota in December).

Please know that every time I play 7 Wonders I will think of your kindness and generosity AND believe that things will get better.

I hope that you and yours have a safe, happy & gaming 2012! And, of course, I hope that along with my gift of

and

you also got a great Santa yourself.

Thankfully,

My Secret Santa is the best!
mbmbmbmbmb
My Secret Santa's timing was impeccable. I didn't hear anything until the day before Christmas, when my package arrived. That was really considerate of Santa since I had decided to wait until Christmas Eve with the opening, and now I only had to wait one day. Still, it was the longest 24 hours of my life.

I'm really sorry posting my thank you so late, but the amazing gifts I received left me so speechless, that it is just now that I'm able to respond.

My Secret Santa decided to cover my every needs. Whether I'm in the mood for an intense 2-player strategy battle, or a more relaxed multiplayer party game, I am ready with Stronghold and Dixit Oddysey.

Stronghold was really high on my wishlist, and to not only get this but also Dixit Oddysey AND all three promo cards that have been release, is just amazing!

Thank you so much my Secret Santa! This has been my first year participating, but it will definitely not be the last.

I've only been a member of BGG since 2002, so this is all very new for me. Now I will see if I can figure out how to add a Geeklist Item, so I can show my appreciation

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I'm a bit late posting my gift.

It got here a bit after Christmas, but the wait was worth it.

In fact I had no idea how to acquire this one at all. So imagine my surprise and delight when I tore through all the extraneous, but lovely wrapping.

Alba Longa!

Thanks Secret Santa!

Well, I must admit that I've been very bad in terms of posting in this list and I made my Santa worry a bit that his wonderful presents were lost in the post office maelstorm Alas, it's the holiday season and traditionally I take a break from most of the things I do every other time of the year, like spend a couple of hours on the geek daily

However, the packages did arrive on time and receiving the german version of Endeavor was a very very pleasant surprise, one that I plan to share with the rest of my gaming group as soon as possible (we're currently suffering from a bit of Eclipse fever, but this too shall pass ).

To make things even better, a few days later I also received O Vale dos Monstros in a nice gift package, which was an even more pleasant surprise! It's a game I'd never pick up myself from the shelf, but now that I've given it a good look, it's definately something I want to play soon. More often than not, that's the best bit about these things.

Have a wonderful 2012 everyone, with many happy moments and boardgame plays

Hey there everyone!

First off, I'd like to apologize to my secret santa, and this for two different reasons.

First reason, I apologize I took so long before thanking you and posting here, things have been a bit ectic since christmas as I have proposed to my girlfriend and she has accepted. I'll get married during summer 2013. Anyway, I should at least have taken the time to just write something short fast.

Second reason, I apologize for when you came and delivered the games right at home. I should have asked you to come in and at least take a cup of coffee with us. Truth is, I was really really surprised of seeing you there and got caught! I am sincerely sorry and be sure that next time you are in Paris, you are welcome to come by and have a cup of coffee and play a game of inovation.

Now, I really wanted to apologize publicly because I must say that my secret santa was GREAT!

The first thing great he did was to create a numerical "calendrier de l'avent" sending me links to various contents over the internet every day.

I specially liked this video from youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqYgAX6D43Q

So thank you for this great idea!

Then of course there was the surprise of seeing you at my doorstep (or one of your acolytes) to bring the games directly to my home! This was a very nice surprise and I admit I was totally caught off guard! Thank you a lot for that.

Finally, there were the presents themselves, I got Innovation from my wishist but also its expansion Echoes of the past as well as a comic biogaphy of Feynman (father of quantum electrodynamics and the atomic bomb). I loved that you included the comic as I am a big fan of comics as well as of science in general. I read the comic in one go and loved it. It definitely made me want to meet Feynman (unfortunately that can't happen). He seemed, apart from being a genius, very funny and a very interesting guy.

Anyway, I sincerely thank you for the extra mile you took, as well as for the extra kilometer and the extra lightyear! I hope you had a great christmas and your secret santa was as great as you were!

Cheers, and hopefully I'll have the chance to personally thank you and make it up to you!

Ohh... next Santa wont bring me anything again, because I was already naughty and forgot to post here.

The box arrived December 16th when I came back from a week long work out of town getting sick during the week. My mood was not the best as you cand imagine. *sigh*

At home my significant other was waiting with the big box. And we opened it up as soon as possible.

Ohhh... my mood got better as we dived into the paper. And see what we found there. Not only on package, not only two packages.. NO! Two packages and a hat!

As a sidenote: I was forbidden to post the picture of my girlfriend holding the boxes wearing the hat. *giggles*

I was already in a great mood now and almost forgot my approaching flu. But when we ripped open the last layer to see the games. I was stunned.

My dear Secret Santa you could have not chosen any better games. We played De Vulgari Eloquentia once now and I'm really happy with all the choices this game offers. I love the theme and we're looking forward to get some more plays in.
Yggdrasil is... a blast for us. We played three times so far. Especially with two of our friends together it was awesome. We lost one round and everybody requested another one although it was like midnight at this time.

So.. this was our first time participating in the Secret Santa. And I have to say a big big thank you from my other half and me. Thank you!

I've been so busy with work and Christmas that I didn't get my target's package off until today.

Since I told myself I couldn't post my own gift until I fixed my own oversight, here you go.

YAY!

This. Is. So. Cool.

I so wanted this when I was at Essen last fall but the massive box kept me from being able to indulge. So how happy am I to now be the proud owner? Yeah, that happy. My daughter loooves this - especially the flameeples.

And me, I get to have massive insane Tier auf Tier sessions that uses this, the base game, the Duell, the Gipfelsturmer and the Haba Crows for an insane tower of insanity.

Thanks Santa!

Race for the Galaxy: The Gathering Storm

My santa this year really overdid himself.

Here is a pic of me holding both my boys and the christmas card! Thanks Santa, much better than Eclipse or Cyclades!!

Better late than never. Talking about myself, not Santa. Santa was fantastic, and package arrived well before Christmas. Me, I'm not so fantastic. Only adding to the list now.

Opened the package on Christmas, and delighted to discover a copy of Dominion: Seaside. Santa did me good. Great, in fact. Had a chance to play it in the fall, when visiting my brother, and it was the #1 choice on my wish list. Even though I didn't flag it as such. Santa knows, and Santa rocks. I believe in Santa. Finally had time to play it last night, and just as great as I remembered it.

Also, Santa threw in two small expansions for games I love. Small World: Tunnels and Zooloretto: Catta. Santa fit my wish list and profile perfectly.

Thanks!
