The Good: Nice graphics

The Bad: Everything else, especially the rulebook

The Ugly: The Price Tag. Ouch. My wallet is still in physical therapy. Just for the record, this game is on my to trade list, but let me give you a little advice, don't. After you get it you'll just want to put it on Ebay, but you won't because this little voice (with a perfect little halo and angel wings) will make you feel like a huge turd. I can't do it.

The Good: Lots of cool... breakable bits.

The Bad: If you hate the luck factor in vanilla Settlers, you'll really love this.

The Ugly: Ever seen the movie Flash Gordon? This game reminds me of that movie, lots of phallic symbology. If the real ones broke off that easily, it would leave a mark.

The Good: An Axis and Allies sci-fi war in our solar system. The thing that makes this game good for me is the movement of the planets around the sun. It keeps the game dynamic and changing, and forces you to think several moves ahead, in order to launch that invasion to take Mars or just ensure that someone else isn't doing the same thing to you.

The Bad: Some qualms here on the geek about balance of units and leaders.

The Ugly: I haven't played this game in years.

The Good: King Kong of all Space Operas. Biggest box, biggest components, most components, biggest rulebook, coolest bits yadda, yadda, yadda.

The Bad: Take a day off from work, piss off your significant other, avoid sleep and shirk all responsibility on the day you plan to play this game.

The Ugly: I own a number of FFG games. I enjoy the fluff and theme of the games, but balance and elegance have always been issues with FFG. I'll catch some flak, just you see. I don't mean to rant (The Imperial Strategy Card has already been beaten to death), but come on guys. I'm rooting for ya, and always have, but I think you can do better. This game should be at the top... er bottom of this list.

The Good: Now were getting to the games that I really like. This one is a fun little 2 player game from GW that I really enjoy. Think Hammer of the Scots in space. I enjoy both games, and would reccomend it to anyone who enjoys H.O.T.S.

The Bad: I think the balance of the game is slightly in favor of the defending Imperial Player. I don't think this detracts from the gameplay, as the load of units and destruction that the Chaos player has availible makes 'em fun to play. The challenge entices me as well.

The Ugly: The first game that I played with my friend Craig ended on turn 1 with a bombardment from my Battle Barges that engulfed and incinerated the Emperor. 'Game over man!' As you can imagine, that wasn't satisfying for either of us. So we played again, and you guessed it, 'Same bat time, same bat channel!' We made some quick and easy house rules, and have had no problems with the game since.

The Good: This is the game of choice if we have the players and the time. There is nothing else like it, period.

The Bad: This game can be long, it can also be short if you have greenies.

The Ugly: One: I like David Lynch's version of the movie better than the Sci-Fi Channel's version. (Look out! He's got a flamethrower!)

Two: David Lynch's movie is better than Frank Herberts book.(Boys and girls, I smell a barbeque)

Three: The Bene Gesserit are balanced, and I'll whup your scrawny little butt with 'em any day of the week.(With the help of a few allies of course)

The Good: This is the best version of Risk. Equally fun, balanced, and strategic. It just seems to hit on all levels with me. This is rated the same as Dune, but the two games are really uncomparable. I like them both for different reasons.

The Bad: Some people despise Risk, for several different reasons. Dice, luck, balance issues, gamelength were all issues with the first game. This game does an excellent job of addressing the gamelength and the balance issues, but the dice are still there and so is the luck. If you don't like dice, you won't like this game. I find that the amount of luck is perfectly balanced with the gamelength and overall depth of the game. Better players will win far more often than inexperienced players, but not to the extent of a game like Chess.

The Bad: Spilled beer on my own gameboard twice in the same day. Doh! I beat myself silly with a baseball bat.

The Good: This game is far from perfect, but it tops my list because it is fun, and our group has played so many times that the cards look like the Yellow Pages. This was my first Knizia game and my second German style game. The game played outside of the box of everything I had ever known.

The Bad: When I discovered this game, I knew nothing about Titan: The Arena. The funny thing is, even though this game was obviously an abstract, the whole theme of establishing colonies on worlds and then protecting those worlds really clicked. I think this is a game where ignorance is bliss. I think I would have felt ripped off if I already owned Titan. The extra chrome in Galaxy is largely unneccessary, especially the technology cards, but the special abilities of cards 0 through 5 really add some tough tactical decisions at key moments in the game. The ability to attack other ships, while clumsy and luck laden, helps to balance out the abilities of the smaller ships, and gives the player just a few more options to struggle on.

The Ugly: The rulebook. It is not easy to read and convoluted to boot. 24 pages compared to Colossal Arena at 4 pages.
