This is a gallery of games that recreate grand historical events (or processes) on amusingly small, cute boards.

I've become interested in this faux-category lately when browsing the database for potential new purchases, and decided to share my findings.

Additions are most welcome; if you wish to follow my formatting, use [imageid=XXXX medium] code for embedding images.

Want to get this one.
Think I prefer the look of the map in the first edition.
Hopefully somewhere in Ireland will stock it!

A game that centers around the 303 Polish squadron during the Battle of Britain? Wow, I didn't even know this existed. Any idea where I can find a copy in US or Canada?

Since it was released as an “educational material” by the Polish Institute of National Remembrance, and not as a product for the worldwide hobby market, there might be problems finding it outside Poland. You can try importing it from a Polish store such as Rebel.pl, but first check the print-and-play “sequel” 111 uploaded in the Files section by the game's designer.

I've got a few of these - AP put one or two in every boxed game they ship. I just got Rattenkrieg and the one about ACW cavalry raids (I forget the name) in PG:Fall of France. I have a couple of each in the series I think, I'm sure I have about three copies of Westerplatte knocking around. I haven't punched (cut?) a single one of the yet either

These events came up in the conversation at work shortly before Christmas. One of the girls working there told us "We didn't do that in History at school"...

Everyone else just went silent and stared at one another... makes you feel old, that does...

The map is not really soooo tiny for this game but the town spaces in which one has to put his armies are FAR too small for their purpose. It is not unusual in this game to see ten or more blocks amassing in single spaces which can comfortably accomodate only one or two blocks before they start to cover the name of another town. This can lead to confusion about what space a mega army is actually in and can shield valuable information about road width and rivers until it's too late. I played this game for the first time last night and the overcrowded map was a real problem. I didn't actually begin to enjoy the game until the units had been removed enough to allow the map to be seen more easily.
