All of the components from this big box expansion fit very comfortably inside the box of the base game once the insert is removed. This is also the case for the two Battlestar Gallactica expansions, LNOE Growing Hunger, Dominion sets, Thunderstone and a host of others. Because I am a trader/seller of games, I still have the empty boxes in case I am looking to purge them from my collection at some time in the future but it clears up some needed shelf space.

I consider this an essential expansion, if only for the ports. But it is a very nice set of mini-expensions overall, that no AGoT enthusiast should be without. Sold together with base game.

This game was also $1.99 and most of the components were bagged. This box is in slightly better shape. The base game has a blown corner.
I am dreading doing inventory on both these games, but happy to see the previous owner took time to bag almost all of the components.
Both of these might end up at an auction of a game convention I am (hopefully) going to in a few weeks.

This was our second annual play of aGoT at the WBC. Last year's play took us 9 hours to complete. We were on the same schedule here but stopped at turn 7 b/c one player had to get on the road. I was more than content to stop things when we did. I find the game fun but simply too much. Put this experience in a three hour timeframe and I'd rate it a 10.
I was green (don't ask me to name the houses) and I had an alliance with orange which the other players did not like. We were doing the Russia-Turkey thing from Diplomacy. I knew I'd have to stab him at some point but I wasn't going to do that till it could win me the game. This caused a lot of tension in the game (Green should be attacking orange!) and I basically had to tell one guy to STFU and let me play my game, and oh by the way you're a toadie for white, so why don't you attack them? Of course Lannister got boned. I don't see the point of that country. I kept them around as a buffer as long as I needed them and then made my move on them. It came down to me, orange, and white and I finished third in our truncated game.
We started at 11:35am and ended at 6pm with a half hour for lunch. Orange won with 6 cities as he had to drive back to VA and I didn't want to go past 6 hours anyway so we stopped at turn 7 I think.
I think the game is a brilliant design, I really do, and its excellent in what it is, but it's not in my wheelhouse for fun. I simply lose energy from the constant negotiations and figuring out who's lying to me and if/when I need to screw someone over. I have a friend who gets so energized from negotiations and meta-gaming. He's in his element here whereas I get enervated. And even though we had 5 and 3 minute limits on negotiations/orders, this game takes us a long time to play b/c we can't help but end up negotiating while resolving orders. It's just too much. I'd rather play BSG for my intrigue type game. I think I'll bow out of our annual play next year.

Takes a good game and fixes a number of problems, making it a much better game. I think that's about all you can ask for in an expansion.
The sixth player, the changes in the map, and the addition of the ports were crucial to making the game more balanced and awesome.

Made a few other stops before deciding to stop at a FLGS I haven't been to in months. Got this new in shrink for regular retail price, $39.99. So I bought it hoping to add it to my base game to sell on ebay for $175.
I just want to say thanks to Robrob and stinkoman for bursting that bubble.
Quote: A Game of Thrones and A Game of Thrones : A Clash of Kings Expansion sets have gone for $200. My unpunched set just went for $102
Quote: That's because they just announced a 2nd edition to come out in a couple of months.

Easily my favorite expansion. Turns a good game into a great game without completely changing it for no reason.
