Saw the Rio Grande Games logo and grabbed this one. The top edge of the box was ripped in one corner and partially along the edge. I feared I would be counting cards, but upon opening it I was pleasantly surprised by the cards still in their shrink.

Klunker is Bohnanza with stealing instead of trading. Way more fun.

A great game but in a very different genre to his big box Euros. I think it's his greatest game (Klunker is good too but not quite as good) because I can appreciate the accessibility of this design even though I'd rather pull out Le Havre or perhaps Agricola.

Why? you are just taking out cards the cards involved in game haven't been sorted. Or if you mean having to add cards take those put them in every few cards give it a couple ripples and waaala!

(10 plays in 2005, now 24 plays total) This game worked well with my kid's mum and my sister and her husband, but since one left me, one went to work overseas and one moved away, that gang doesn't play games any more. This is a fun social game, but I don't seek out that sort of gaming any more.

In my opinion this game is not very good for two players.

With more players it's a fantastic game (It's my favourite card game and one of my most played games). But the two-player rules are for a completely different game that is absolutely lack-lustre. There a far better two player games out there than Bohnanza. IMHO

I just tried the 2 player variant today for the first time, and I agree the game is much better with more players, the 2 player variant is kind of silly and way more luck dependent. If you get lucky the draw more cards from the discard rule can net you some major coins.

Agreed on all points. We've tried it a couple of times with 2 players, for variety's sake. Just OK. The key to the game is the trading, and trading just doesn't matter with 2 players.

The possibility of drawing cards from the discard pile means that you want to harvest when you think you're about to draw a matching card, so you can get all of those cards back. It doesn't add a huge amount of strategic depth, but it does give you something to consider regarding the timing of your harvests.

Your family likes a lot of the same games that mine does. With that in mind, I highly recommend Bohnanza. I think you'll get a lot of fun out of it, plus, you can add expansions and not count them

I went to the game shop to pick this up when I ended up getting Guillotine because Bohnanza wasn't available. It does look like a lot of fun so that may be something we add in the future still.

I know that I should count the expansions, especially Intrigue, but I've got all my games with expansions combined into one box, makes it feel more like one game to me.

Lave Avenue Half Price Books

My week of plunging the depths of what Columbus area Half Price Books has to offer continues. After finding Forbidden Island and Dungeon Twister, I thought I should give the Lane Ave location another shot. I had gone on Monday and found nothing, but my 30% off coupon expires tonight.

And again, Half Price Books produces. Marked at $10, this complete, like new copy had an even $3 shaved off at the register.

My fingers are crossed that there will be something left in the well for Sunday's 50% off coupon.

I bought the Ipod app of this game and it is a LOT of fun!!!!
LOTS of fun.
Gateway, but has a lot of strategy...negotiation...cute art...smelly beans FUN

What's not to like?

Summary:
Players are trying to get as much money as possible by farming stinky beans. (CUTE artwork) You'll need to think carefully about what beans you want to buy, "Stinky bean" "Red Chilli Beans" ", "Cowboy bean". This game is very cute and lots of fun.

Takes up to: 2-5 players
Plays in around: 30-45 minutes
