3rd edition is coming out/is out and it looks as though they're making it easier for noobs to get into the hobby, which I appreciate. I tried getting in before and was confused.
I've ALWAYS wanted to play a WWII minis game, and although I've heard it is "gamey" that is great by me. I'm no buff, and I need a layer of sugar.
The minis look great to me, and the scale lends itself to nice WWII incursions.
The faction of interest for me is either the USA or the Russians.

1000 pt Russian front tank battle (I umpired). PzIII's and Pz Iv's Vs Matilda's and T-34's. It was an overwealming Russian victory (due mainly to the Matilda's?).

Jan 29 - Flames of War, Operation Bagration campaign game.
Not a long writeup, as I hadn't played in nearly eight months so it was more of a refresher game than a hard-fought struggle. My opponent, Mike, was very patient and helpful in reminding me of half-forgotten rules and modifiers. I was actually dug in on my objectives fairly well with the better portion of a SMG company and most of a 10-strong T-34 company; unfortunately the only airstrike he successfully rolled all game killed my CiC, and when his Luchs light tanks overran my artillery and mortar teams in the backfield, it forced a company morale check that I auto-failed due to said dead CiC.
Even more unfortunately, the store hosting the campaign is running out of room on nights other than the official night, Thursday - which is my preexisting Heavy Gear night. So that 6-1 loss might wind up being my only game of the campaign. Fortunately, my primary wargaming opponent (and good friend) Britt has been wanting to do a campaign in the Ukraine, winter '43, for quite some time. We're going to start that up later in the spring.
Only one pic, as I barely had time to get my force assembled for the first (and possibly last?) game - they're not even primed:

Has a really crap sniper rule. Basicly its a non-mobiel dug in infantry unit that if assualted dies (thats costs about half the cost of a full platoon).

I love painting miniatures and like the WWII boardgames I would love to give tis a try, just after I played warhammer fantasy, 40K and warmachine for which I already bought armies.
