The staff member and his friend liked this so much that they played it a second time instead of going to watch The Pirates. I won the first and then jumped ship.

I actually own a homemade copy of this game. I made all the hex tiles out of wood and clay. Then I made roads out of mini Popsicle sticks and square toothpicks. When I figure out how to attach pictures I'll add them. Otherwise you can view them through my images on my home page.

I had promised Richard I would host a session of Catan (one of his favourites) with the cities and knights expansions. James and Jason also joined in the fun. Both of them were familiar with Catan but neither had played with the expansion. It was about half way through the game that we remembered that Richard had played with the expansion before (long ago at the house of Mark). Everyone was struggling for one resource or another the entire game. I think everyone agreed that the expansion makes for a better game of Catan. I suspect this one will get a lot more play with the group (if Richard has anything to say about it). My only complaint is that it plays long. That may have more to do with us being such social gamers than anything to do with the game itself.

It was now time for a full reconfig, so Jerry, Lani, and Suzie took over Table Two to play Tim's vintage German edition of The Settlers of Catan, which we used to call Die Siedler von Catan, back in the day.
Jerry claimed the win after stealing the longest road from Lani to get his final two points. Suzie finished with 7, while first time player Lani ended the game with a respectable 5 points.

Resources managed: The ever classic wood, sheep, brick, ore, and wheat
Engine built: As players expand and build more settlements, upgrade settlements to cities, or establish ports, the more resources they will be able to acquire or trade.

Very popular with people new to games / music. Then they realize some flaws in the project and their love fades and they move on to other music / games. The soft spot for it still stays though.

$3, GW super store on Westmorland, Dallas, TX.
Box is very battered and even split on the top. never seen one of these in this kind of shape. The insides are bagged and look good. It may get donated to my boy's school as well.

I'm really pleased that this game brought so many of you into the hobby. I'm delighted that friends and acquaintances ask if I know of this game rather than just referencing Monopoly all the time. I even appreciate the combination of mechanisms. I just never enjoyed playing it.

Josephine played this with several of the big boys. I was proud to hear that she liked it, understood it, and even played it again with Neil and her dad the next day

With the Catan: Event Cards.
Sat AM, while Mage Knight and Arkham were running, we launched a 3rd table of this. Ed, Keith's brother-in-law, Josephine and myself.
Josephine caught on quickly and played very well, final score was Keith's B-I-L: 10 Ed: 9 Josephine: 7 Me: 6
This was the first time I had played in close to 2 years and the first time I've ever played with gamers, so it was a blast. Very exciting game. I got off to an early lead, so got a lot of bash-the-leader, but my lead was precarious since 2 points were from the road. Then Ed nearly took the win a couple times but he and I kept trading longest-road. Finally Keith's BIL came from behind for the win.
This was the first time I've used the event cards and I liked them. The events still add a lot of chaos despite the lack of dice.

Another salvation army find. I enjoy it, but I have a hard time getting it to the table. For whatever reason my wife doesn't want to try it.
