A: Ok, my car finally comes to a scraping halt. Did I say my car? Sorry, I meant my ungainly heap of scrap metal. How many seconds would that roll take in real time?

After Star Fleet Battles, this game showed me another way to celebrate cardboard mayhem. Rather than the final frontier, this one showed a way to engage in tactical excellence and gearhead madness on the freeways of the future...

Had the game and tons of expansions, books, etc. in the 1980's. Sold them off a while back. When a deluxe version incorporating all of the rules and many counters etc. appeared on a math trade list I could not resist. May not get to her for a while but my old friend is back.

Car Wars Deluxe Edition (1989)
I want to be as forthcoming as possible with this so here we go. First off the box says Car Wars Deluxe Edition the cover looks very similar to the Picture but is not exactly like it. It does include the pictured book which has minor ware on the top right of the cover on the S in Wars. The game appears complete (I'm not sure what all is supposed to be in here.) the maps are in great shape and nothing has been cut out.
The quick start rules have some discoloring there are color tokens for cars, boats, choppers, people, and many other objects all uncut.
According to the back it includes, a map of Midville (Crash City), fortified truck stop, Double Drum Arena, Road Sections and what appears to be a water map. I believe that is what all the maps in here are. I bought this a few years back and it just has not hit the table.
If you have questions please ask and I will try to answer it as best as I can.
I will also say the box is in horrible shape. Again the contents however are in great shape apparently the box did it's job taking a beating.

Also please see my profile page before adding this item to your want list in the OLWLG.

RULE#23: ALWAYS FOLLOW AADA GUIDELINES
According to the American Auto Duel Association, attaching a spreader to your car can create a patch of sand which will negate the effects of any snow, ice or oil that it is laid on. The sand will also extinguish flaming oil. Because of the looser traction caused by the sand, any maneuver done while driving on it has +D1 added to the maneuver hazard. No tire damage is inflicted.

After I grabbed two previous two games, I hit the shirt section and picked up a black shirt for work. Then I wandered over to the book section and found this. It will be nice to actually have all of the rule together in one volume instead of spread out through out 7 or 8 different expansions. $3.99.

This has lots of different campaign angles to it, but I think I like Corporate Car Wars (or a variant of it) best.

Rules for boarding vehicles... both when stopped and when moving, and while the party may be small, it's been vital on occasion to taking a big rig.

Without a doubt, the one game I was more interested in playing than anything. My buddy Jason had made an arena for the occasion and had printed off copies of the compendium for us. He let us design cars for a div 20 event (cars had to cost $20,000 or less) and he also had some pre-made ones as well. I dusted off my car design clipboard and dove in.
What I came up with was a slow moving turtle with a couple of devastating anti-tank guns forward and not much else. I managed to blast two of my opponents to bits (literally - I hit the weak side armor and actually blew holed straight through them) and then the rest of the field turned on me. I slowed down to 5 mph so I could use the pivot maneuver to point my deadly weapons at whoever came into range but it was only a matter of time. I met my ignominous end at the hands of several rounds of vulcan machine gun ammo as they perforated my driver and power plant, causing an explosion heard throughout the stadium.
Lots of fun, would play it again in a heartbeat.

Once you have Car Wars, get this and you will probably be as close to Mad Max as you can get.

Here's assuming I get my pick of the bazillion expansions...

There were many I could choose (and hopefully this one's still around - I don't think I saw it) but I have to go with this one. Really enjoyed playing it when I was younger... and all the cool minis games I wanted are gone already (except one, and I'm not going to mention it just in case I can sneak in the back door of the store and grab it if no one else does!)
So, yeah, maybe a silly choice, but it's mine...

8.5" x 11" book with consolidated design, combat, weapon, and accessory rules up to that point. Rule changes were kept to a minimum.
Included are the rules from Car Wars Deluxe Edition, Boat Wars, Dueltrack, and the Uncle Albert's Catalogs through 2039 - as well as clarifications, improvements, and new rules from the pages of Autoduel Quarterly, streamlined for faster play. While it does contain complete rules needed to play Car Wars it is noted on the back of the book that this is not a complete game, it is required to have counters and maps from Deluxe Car Wars, Boat Wars: A Car Wars Supplement, or other Car Wars supplements in order to play.

A bit late to the party, but a few weeks ago at PentaCon, I picked up a copy of Car Wars Compendium, 2nd ed, black boxed set edition for $5, from the flea market.
Some other guy picked up a complete, very nice copy of Dawn Patrol for $3.

Offer #5
Car Wars compendium, plus Uncle Al's 2035 and 2039 catalogs and the AADA Vehicle guide #2. The book is used a lot and it shows. There is also a lot of assorted vehicle record sheets, some used, some not. (Note that this offer does not include boards, counters nor turning key. Once upon a time I also had the Truck Stop expansion, but that one seems to have gone missing in the mists of time. If I do find it I will include it when I send the stuff to the winner
