This one makes me cry. The basic game was good and fun. The Road to Legends expansion forced you to decide if you were going to commit to a campaign or play the original. Some of the variants didn't flow with this expansion. Now they are coming out with a revision to "Fix it." Is the revision going to fix things or just add to the confusion.

One of these days......
We're gonna play a badass, year-long campaign!
Yeah right. We build up steam, I lead a bold party through the first dungeon to Narthak the Giant (3 expansions waiting in the wings) and they love it. For sure, in a few weeks (when we all get the time) I'll run these guys through the second dungeon. Months go by. People move away. Kids are born. Life moves on. Next February, as happened in 2009, 2010 and 2011, we're gonna kick Narthak's arse all over again.

First edition, complete, box in very good shape. Bits sorted into a couple of Plano boxes.
I'm going to list all of the stuff that I'm about to auction off...stuff I need to get rid of.
I don't have a marketplace listing for this, but I'd like to get $120 total for this plus Well of Darkness.
If I sell this without Well of Darkness, I'll include some of the replacement cards from (another copy of) Well of Darkness.
My want list is pretty short at this point, probably better if I sell everything...but you never know.

#6 Descent has clunky rules and takes hours to play, but it's a great two-player tactical combat game with a dungeon crawl theme.
As the evil overlord, there's nothing more fun than collecting X-million threat tokens over several turns before summoning a bunch of spiders and beastmen. Follow up with a trapped treasure chest to send your opponent limping back to the dungeon entrance.
As an alternative under 60 minutes of play time, try Claustrophobia. The tiles are beautiful and the demon player's trogodytes are mega-cute, even if they die all the time.
Alternatively, wait for second edition Descent, which is supposed to be shorter and streamlined.

And of course the game itself comes with the stupid white inserts. No good for anything but turning it upside down and use them as dividers.

Getting this ready takes a bit of time. It is better to setup in advance if you are the Overlord.

I didn't really want to include RPGs in here because everyone who plays them knows they can potentially stretch on for ages, but I feel that the Campaign version of Descent deserves it's place on the list. Seeing your characters evolve over time, eventually taking on the Big Bad in a battle to the finish has seen some folks tell me some great tales - but do you agree that it should be included?

Complete, components in plano box; box in good condition.
Free shipping to US, will cover $10 elsewhere...big and heavy, so I wouldn't suggest trading for this internationally.

On Sat I enjoyed my first game ofHeroscape with my daughter, we played the basic game on the first map. She whooped up on me and was quite proud of herself, so I imagine this one will become popular.
Then that evening I had 3 friends over and we were able to get 2 games of Descent in...only because the overlord killed us so badly in the first game it was over in the second room.
The second game of Descent we played really redeamed the game for me. (We played it a few times over a year ago and then let it gather dust.) Our first impressions were that the game had a really bad steamrole effect and just wasn't fun for one side from midgame on. However those impressions were laid to waste on Sat night.
We had a good group of Hero's w/ an excellent start, the overlord wasn't throwing much at us early game and we were getting confident that the game really was ours. A fairly early trapmaster came out for him and had us worried but his first two big traps only did 2 out of 6 or 8 possible damage. Just when we hit that point that we thought it was over and the rest was just going through the motions things flipped and wwe got clobbered, with a fine balance of traps and monsters that worked so well together it was scarry.
The game, though I was disappointed we lost, restored my faith in the game and showed me that all the players really do have to play "right" to pull of the win, one mistake can be fatel for the whole group. That makes even the "easy" wins sweeter, because now I'll feel like even those were earned.

I got the base game and 3 expansions for $140 from craigslist...so I'll call it $35 each. Agreed that it pushes the limit of bargain and probably shouldn't be posted, but the same 4 games together have sold for $300 a couple of times recently on ebay.
Biggest thing for me, though, was being able to get road to legend - I could never justify paying the $140 or so it would cost by itself, but this way I can keep that and Altar (the two I didn't have), sell the base game and Well, and end up just about even. Also, the guy was very nice, a fellow gamer who was very friendly and knows of BGG, and was on the way to his buddy's house to play the FFG dune re-do for his buddy's birthday.
Anyway, I need to separate them all but I'm confident they're complete. Bagged and plano boxed.
