As I look back, there were so many great games that I was introduced to in the past year. I decided to restrict my list here to five, but 10 would have been easy too.
I picked this up in an auction in December. It had been on my wishlist for a few years and I had to pay a pretty penny (and sell some other games to pay for it), but it was worth it. I brought it out for three friends who aren't soccer fans and they absolutely loved it. It was a big hit. Don't ask me to trade or sell this because it won't happen unless I'm desperate.
Wow - what a great all around game. Were it not for the late acquisition of Zopp, this would have been a clear winner for me. Lots of tough decisions and just a little potential nastiness...
Thanks to my friend Bill, who has a habit of finding obscure but very cool games and sharing them with me. I played this earlier this year and then grabbed a copy. IIRC there were only 500 of these made. If you get a chance to snag one, do it. Cloth board, wooden components otherwise and an amazing game. I introduced it to three other friends a few months ago and two of them bought copies.
Now... who wants to buy a very cool, barely used, hand made, tournament sized crokinole board?
Nooooo, not the crokinole board.
I think it's a beauty, but I have no complaints as I've wanted Zopp for some time. I'd like to keep the crokinole board but I really don't want to dig into the savings I set aside for possible future vet bills to pay for this. I might be getting an end-of-year bonus at work but we haven't been told yet so I can't be sure.
BorderCon 101 - Bring the fun, bring a smile, grab a game from the pile. Place the Meeple, play a card, swing your sword and kill the guard! So make the trip, don't be docile, look for details on my profile!

Einzazzle the Fizzle calmly gazes around the first room of the Dungeon of Doom and thinks, "I don't see what all the fuss is, they probably named this place 'Doom' to keep away visitors or something."
Fizzle - Strength -2, Dexterity +5, Intelligence +5, Attack -2 Notes: Can defeat any one monster with a Fireball instantly and unerringly. Can only be used once in the entire adventure and must be done in place of an attack roll (not after). Background: Believes that Arcane Magic is the key to life and is far more sophisticated and effective than a clumsy sword or awkward bow.
Most honorable Einzazzle! Brave though thou art... are you sure you are ready to enter here?
Level 1 - Room 1 - Entryway
Leaving the safety of the outside world, you have descended into a small square room, roughly 20 feet across in all directions. Your torchlight illuminates the entire room. The floor is rough, uneven stone and there are a few small bones in one corner. Giving the bones a quick poke with your sword yields nothing - you decide these are not valuable enough to bother with. Plus, old bones in a deadly dungeon is a bad omen. Seeing nothing of interest, you make your way across the room to an exit on the opposite side.
1d100 = (62) = 62
As you cross the room, you have fallen into a Pit of Vipers. Make a Strength Check at DR15 to jump out or suffer 4 damage.
This is a Skill Challenge. To pass this challenge, you will use the Geek Randomizer to roll 1d20 and add in your relevant modifier. So if this is a Dexterity check and your Dexterity Modifier is +2, you would enter 1d20+2 into the die roller. Do this now. Future skill challenges will assume you know how to make this check. Please make your check now.
You have entered what appears to be a narrow hallway. The hallway twists and turns - you can hardly see around each corner as you make your way. The hallway slopes slightly downwards.
1d100 = (95) = 95
As you attempt to exit the room you realize the door is guarded by a devious and cunning puzzle. Make an Intelligence Check at DR18 or suffer 5 damage from the mental anguish.
Feeling woozy after the blow to the head I make the most likely disastrous to keep going through the dungeon. I see the puzzle and think, "Yes!!! I'm marvelous at puzzles."
Ouch! This challenge proved to be too much for you, adventurer. You suffer 5 damage and now have 0 hitpoints
You have descended into the depths of the Dungeon of Doom and have died. With a hero’s resolve you withstood what you could but in the end the forces of darkness were simply too much for you to overcome. A valiant attempt - your next of kin recover your treasures and so your legacy lives on.
Thank you for playing in the RPG Geek Dungeon of Doom. Your initial geeklist post above has been tipped by your Dungeon Master the amount of geekgold equal to the gold you have found in the dungeon (other adventurers may also tip you as they feel appropriate). Any items you found will be given to you as microbadges shortly.
You are free to post on the The Official Dungeon of Doom Commiseration Thread to discuss your victory or defeat. Your DMs don’t want to hear your bad beat story - they have other adventures to run! Go to the tavern like other slain heroes and tell the bartender instead.
Farewell, brave adventurer! Until our next Encounter...
I am a Flickaholic. It has been two days since my last Flick (Ascending Empires). Also own Crokinole, Carrom, Le Passe-Trappe, Pitch Car, Elk Fest and its still not enough.
Saw this being sold off a couple of years ago in my FLGS for A$150. I thought then it was a good price - and nearly pushed the trigger. Don't really know why I didn't. The videos look cool and it looks a whole lot more fun than table soccer.
Not really sure if it is still available - dont speak enough German to navigate through the relevant sites and the few copies available on the geek either went a King's ransom in trade or are unwilling to ship down under (I would be too).
Zopp is a sturdy, nicely-produced tabletop flicking game in the tradition of Subbuteo, Crokinole, and billiards.
This is another game that I wanted to like. But after trying it a few times, I'd never choose to play Zopp over any of the aforementioned games. It's just way, way, way too hard. The flicking requires much more precision than Crokinole. And although Subbuteo is similarly difficult, it also has a lot more going on that motivates players to develop their skills: the visual interest, the soccer tie-in, the real-time elements, and the possibility for tactics. Zopp is much simpler - simple enough that you want to be able to just walk up and play a round. But that approach is going to lead to frustration.
Thank you. I'm quite amazed myself. I never would of expected so much, but am thankful to be surrounded, by very thoughtful and loving people. Being an only child, even in adulthood helps some too.

Zopp
$50
I live nearby in St.Louis, so I can pick up locally.
I really can't see anyone wanting to put up with the hassle of shipping this. It's in the same league as Torpedo Run!, other than the fact that you really, really don't want it to get damaged in shipment.
Find someone recently separated/divorced that has moved into a small apartment and has no storage space. That's the person to obtain this from.
Oh, I have more than enough ammunition to get this one Joe - if I want to trade down. But that's what happens when you have short wants. They start becoming more expensive.
Now Catan 3D is a little more iffy. But if someone at least indicated a willingness to trade it, I might be able to put together an offer.
This board includes 4 white discs, 4 black discs, 2 red discs, 4 flicking boards, and 2 scoring pegs (one each of black and white). Rules and Zopp powder not included.
The board pictured is the actual board up for auction.
