The original Lakeside Press version (1983) with this cover continues to sell over $100. I sold one just after Christmas for $200+ and another geek sold his for that much as well.
Even incomplete games or with broken pieces still command over $50.
But only the 1983 version. The 1992 can be a real brick.

Before I got Heroquest, this game was given to me one Christmas by my grand-parents.
We played it heaps... after adding a few additional rubber bands to the catapult so we fling the carroms from one end of the lounge room to the other.

I had a number of decent finds including 4 unpunched wargames, 1 unpunched HeroQuest: Return of the Witch Lord, a couple of Scotland Yard's, a Clue: The Great Museum Caper, a The Settlers of Catan that was practically new, and an almost complete copy of the original Survive!.
But my favorite had to be Crossbows and Catapults, the original version. I knew it was one that people sought out but it wasn't one I was particularly interested in myself. It looked like fun and thought the kids might enjoy it. But when I got it home I saw how much they were going for (last month) - upwards of $150! I was then considering just selling it and was even hesitant to let the kids play with it.
Well, we got it out and had a blast playing it! I couldn't get them to go to bed afterwards. SO, I decided to keep it - for now......

Well, what have we here! Haven't seen one of these before myself, let alone in the wild!
The thin cardboard box is beat up but no broken corners. The components are in excellent condition.
Unfortunately, missing 1 blue disc and 1 light colored warrior, but definitely still playable!
Looking forward to giving this a go with my kids!
EDIT: BTW, this is the 1983 edition

That's right, set up your fortifications and face the enemy!
(Do you have any idea how awesomely this sets up on the conference room table? What a team builder!)
Condition: 100% complete, rubberbands recently replaced. Box shows average wear for one of its age. (Hey, hey, hey - no bitchin' about the box condition, it's probably worn better over the years than all of us!)
Edition: 1983 Lakeside - the one your mother wouldn't let you have. Or is it the one you had but your mother got rid of when she "cleaned your room for you, sweetie" while you were at school?
Sweetener: Weapons & Warriors: Castle Siege Game More weapons! More targets! Note: W&W is missing a couple of the cannon/catapult balls, but everything else should be there.

First kinetic action wargame.
Yeah, a lot of us probably made stuff up like this as kids. Was there ever a serious rules system using it?
I wouldn't be too shocked.

So the box is long gone but the catapults, the dragon, the trojan horse, and the shields all still function. One of those great "equalizer" games where a five year old can whomp their parents or older siblings! No matter the age, everyone's got a strategy on how to build their tower so that it's invincible! Doesn't take too long to play and you always know that, no matter how klutzy you are, sooner or later you will win!

BALLISTA (CONCRETE): In addition: When performing Laborer action, may move one material from STOCKPILE to POOL in order to move any material from NEIGHBOURS' uncompleted building to POOL.
May be some balancing issues here , but I think this building would be fun. Just as your opponent is finishing their FORUM you use two Laborer actions to first knock a Marble out of the building and then to snatch it up for yourself!
Alternate Name: CATAPULT
Another problem is coming up with a way to defend against this.

I am definitely digging this one out when my son is older. I know this was re-released in later years, but there is something about the original, simple rules that make it so fun.
What is the best way to build your wall to protect your castle?
Is it legal to double (or triple) wrap the rubber band on the crossbow?
Can you legally tip the catapult up on its end to lower its trajectory?
So much fun!

Another game with beautiful components that I really wanted as a child. Featured working catapults and ballistae. Object was to blow the heck out of your opponent's fortifications, if memory serves. I'm sure there may have been a little more to it than that, but I was young, and it was the "blow things up" bit that really appealed to me.
My parents were actually planning to buy me this game as a reward for doing well in school, but were warned by an aunt that her kids were using the toys to shoot the plastic, checker-like rounds at each other. As a result, they somehow feared that I would hurt myself or someone else (which is odd - I never was a violent kid), so they ended up buying me a copy of something else - Risk, I think - instead.
Blah.
Would still like to have it, though.

Yay! Not one, but three games from this year that I've played, but only one that I've ever owned (alas, lost to time now).
Crossbows & Catapults! Siege warfare with plastic discs propelled across the room by rubber bands!
