Having recently replayed this one (I own the Samurai Swords that I bought in 2000), it looked like it needed a recent review.

This is the original version of the game. This contains approx. 4 games together into one large bundle. There is an original Shogun box and an original Samurai Swords box. Multiple game boards, rule books, etc., also hundred and hundreds of extra minis in addition to the complete set for the game.
Also Includes:
This is a collector's dream if you want a complete copy of the original and a ton of extras. You can either complete other copies of the game to resell or have larger armies, etc.
Starting Bid: $5.00 Reserve: $100.00
NOTE: I can't stress how much stuff is actually included in this lot. The shipping weight will be quite high, so I would not recommend anyone from Canada getting this, although I would be happy to ship if you are willing to pay the extra for shipping. Shipping will be charged at actual cost and I will find the best shipping deal I can.

Very Good condition, overall (Excellent considering it's age). Box has some very minor shelfwear, but all corners still intact. About 99% of this game is still unpunched - including armies.

Edition: "Shogun" (not "Ikusa") edition.
Condition: Really great condition components, even for a more recent game. The box however, is not great looking.
Inventoried game and there are some extra pieces, so this will only cover the differences from what should be in box: +2 ronin, +2 coin, -4 cards(have all province cards; the 4 missing are blanks), +3 red spearmen, +5 blue spearmen, +4 orange spearmen, +3 green spearmen, -1 green gun, +2 purple spearmen. Three ronin have broken swords(2 of those 3 are extras) and there are 3 other units with broken spears(still can tell what unit type easily though), but those are units in excess of what the game calls for so not an issue.
The box is in worse shape than I remember with a split corner and the dent in the box is bigger than I remember, but you can see for yourself. Contents are still in great shape and the map is perfect. I'd say this is perfect for people wanting to play that don't care about the box or people wanting to relive their childhood.

Met a fellow geek today thanks to this game (and the other two listed below), which I snatched up just before he came around the corner!

The game is %105 complete (a few extra tokens and two extra soldiers for each army) right down to the paper mailing insert. All the pieces are immaculate. Even the rulebook is crisp. A handsome game indeed!
Just this Saturday I enjoyed a session of Axis and Allies, so I think I can get the guys to go for another GameMaster game...

One player (also prone to AP) spent huge amounts of time planning each turn, ultimately placing her koku every turn into building castles and fortresses on widely scattered choke points (all the sea routes, all the paths onto the small islands) she controlled from the game's random distribution. She didn't levy enough troops ever to make any aggressive moves, and lost a huge number of territories early on, but those castles (full of troops and generals) remained on the board. She never established a solid territory of her own and instead sat in these castles, safe in the knowledge that anyone who amassed and spent forces attacking her would be devoured from all other sides. She was far from winning, but made aggression towards her (or through her) a losing proposition. She basically became an obstacle.
Stuck in a dumb stalemate, the game took several hours longer than it should have, and everyone hated it (including me).
I know the game isn't supposed to play this way, but can't convince the other players that it's usually a much shorter game than that.

All the gamemasters needed a decent sized table. But needing to keep your player boxes on the table gave the need for a large surface.

Player order is decided by a random draw of swords (at least in my Samurai Swords edition). Unless you really want to go first and than you can simply pay for the privilege.

We were playing late one night and one of us said,
"Hey! Attack me. Big Koku over here." In attempt to goad the player into some sort of positional trap. 'Koku' is of course the unit of currency in MB's Shogun strategy game. . .
20 years later, we still use this phrase any time we attempt to Goad another player into taking an action, regardless of games system or the irrelevancy of ancient Japanese currency:
"Dude, why are you attacking me? Look at Mike, he's got Big Koku over there."

On my way into Everett, I decided to swing by the St. Vinnies and see what they had. I was not disappointed. First off, this bad boy (version pictured.) Appears to be complete, everything was baggied just the way I like! Box lid was split on one corner; not that big a deal, as I will probably hang on to it. I'll do an inventory later to make sure its all there.
