Quote:
Conatus (Latin for effort; endeavor; impulse, inclination, tendency; undertaking; striving) is a term used in early philosophies of psychology and metaphysics to refer to an innate inclination of a thing to continue to exist and enhance itself. This "thing" may be mind, matter or a combination of both. Over the millennia, many different definitions and treatments have been formulated by philosophers. Seventeenth-century philosophers René Descartes, Baruch Spinoza, and Gottfried Leibniz, and their Empiricist contemporary Thomas Hobbes made important contributions. The conatus may refer to the instinctive "will to live" of living organisms or to various metaphysical theories of motion and inertia. Often the concept is associated with God's will in a pantheist view of Nature. The concept may be broken up into separate definitions for the mind and body and split when discussing centrifugal force and inertia

I like the point you make. "weakening language" is relative. people might question the strengths of arguments that use qualifiers... but life isn't as black and white as those questioning people would like to make it.

My Word - Out of the Box / English

Condition: Box shows minor wear but overall good condition. Insert for the cards is also included.

Sweetener:
Alien Hotshots - Gamewright / English

Condition: Box has a little damage in the upper right hand corner of the box top (probably from a price tag being removed) and general wear mainly around the corners but overall it's fine and serves its purpose. Insert for the cards is also included.

Shipping: Free to any US state

My second recent copy. It'll either be a gift or go in the van or camper.

And, the clearance section..

The next thrift store had no games I wanted, but I picked up a remote-controlled helium blimp for $3.50!

I must admit that "Remote Control Helium Blimp" would have been hard to pass up, but where are you going to get the helium?

Party stores and larger department stores sell small portable helium tanks for inflating balloons, or for larger quantities your local welding supply company can hook you up.

I was hoping a thriftier way, at least until she knows the blimp is airtight.

Yeah, it also occurred to me that I'll wait until the manager is on duty at the local dollar store. If they pop this baby, that would be sad. I wonder, though, if the gondola could be attached to a regular mylar baloon. It seems I could make one out of metalized nylon

This is the exact one I got. It's never been used. I just found that one sold for $60 on eBay. Decisions, decisions!

I recently bought a large helium disc used as a giant Frisbee-cum-U.F.O. and got it filled up at the Dollar Store. If my experience is anything to judge by, popping will be far from your worries. You see, they charge you $1 for everything, and they are used to a certain volume to fill up with helium. They will either a) think about it for a long time and then offer to fill it for $3 or $4, b) keep pausing mid-fill to ask you if this is "enough," c) want you standing next to them the whole time as they fill, inviting you to feel the pressure, or more likely d) all of the above.

I say go for it.

I've got a half-height welder's tank of helium in the garage for my R/C blimp.
And yes, Dan, the helium DOES keep going up until it escapes into space. Really.

$2 at a little church thrift shop that I rarely get to. I'm pretty sure I've never gotten a game there. Funny, I'd never heard of this game until my daughter found it at FLGS the other day and we played it.

Also, note the huge, inflatable dice in the picture. They're mine, now, too, much to the dismay of the cat. Once the four-year-old started playing with them, she disappeared.

Another quick word game. Deal the cards in real time. The first person who says a word using the letters on any of the cards scores the cards.

For example: If the table has the three cards TH OR and AN, you can spell THAN with two of the cards.

OK, Ladies and Gents, I have a problem!!! I need help, I really, really do!

The problem today didn't really manifest itself till my last stop at Half Price Books, we've got a few posts before we get there.

I know what your thinking, the problem started a few to 6 months ago, and you are probably right, but it didn't really get to me till today.

So I start off my day with a plan to meet a person selling Civilization on Craigslist. I decide to hit the GW outlet before I met her. The plan was to kill 45 minutes to 1 hour at GW outlet. I left an hour and a half later.

Found this for $0.57. Used but complete.
