You fiddle around getting everything balanced - and then how often will someone take something from the light side and cause a topple immediately.

Wash and repeat!

I really like Bamboleo but I must agree. A player not doing his/her best will cause a rebuild every turn!

This is the one reason I like Hamsterrolle a little better.

Having said that, after a couple games with someone that throws the plate often, you get the hang of it and resetting is not that bad.

It is also one of the best fun/family games I have played.

Last month I played a lot of really interesting things, Die Macher, Dungeons & Dragons: Conquest of Nerath Board Game and StarCraft: The Board Game.

I got to thank my good friend Marty for all that.

However, nothing beats spending time with the family. As my kids grow up it is less likely they will want to play with my wife and me. This was a big blast and we really enjoyed it. I got it by mistake, but oh, it was such a blessing that the order got mixed up.

Tons of fun.

If you liked Loopin' Louie, you would definitely enjoy playing Bamboleo.

I know the game is a bit harder to get by, but in case you had the chance to grab a copy, don't hesitate. It's a blast with non-gamers! Or during the holidays, in the evening, after you all had a glass of wine - priceless.

BAMBOLEO!!! I really love this game. We managed to get a full table of 7 going on two different occasions. For those not in the know, you balance a wooden plate filled with wooden bits on a cork ball sitting on a tower. On your turn you take a piece of the platter. The catch is that you must do so without spilling the contents of the platter all over the table. A riot! Apparently we drew a crowd (angry mob?) with our rambunctious play style.

we checked this out once and obviously were doing something wrong - we could never manage to get one piece off without tipping the whole thing - but maybe the 5 hour energies had something to do with that...

Our first few rounds were rough as well, but once we got into the groove were were regularly getting down to only 6 - 8 pieces left before it would fall.

The hardest part IMHO was getting that damn platter balanced in the first place. angry

I don't think this is a must-have. It looks cool, and it's amusing for a couple of plays, but I got over it pretty quickly. My son's cheapo copy of Poppa's Pizza Topple actually works better.

Much of the dexterity in this game comes from setting up the game! It's tricky to balance that platter on blocks on the spindle!

Honestly, this one only bothers me because it's such a cheesy use of one of the world's great works of art. I don't think the game should be banned or anything, I just think that particular image is lame.

After securing Lirit with Avri, Dave R and I managed to try a couple of rounds of BAMBOLEO. Silly and a lot of fun. The greatest challenge, I thought, was getting the plate to balance in the first place. Once it was up there pulling the pieces off made for a good time. Reminded me of that Brady Bunch episode with the house of cards. I am nothing if not a slave to crappy pop culture.
