Have to count it, but it looks complete. Someone appears to have helpfully electrical-taped together the two boards though. But, hey, 1961 printing! I can't really complain.

Seems complete. Though my husband is a Gettysburg aficionado, none of his friends are, so this may go on the trade pile.

This classic has been revised several times, but what do you think of as its worthiest successor?

I have an unpunched 3rd edition copy. Will never play it but the game is such an important one in our hobby's history that I like having it in my collection. My copy even still has the Avalon Hill catalog. Games were $8!

I remember at age 14 in '69 going into a Miller's department store in Wesleyville, PA. I had $10 and a choice between these two games that I had never seen the like of before. AH's Gettysburg and 1914....hmmmm. I think I made the right choice, if only because it happened in my state. I've been collecting games ever since. I still have the Gettysburg I bought 43 years ago.

FIRST to use "hidden movement", at least in the 1964 edition that I'm aware of, although a 'Referee' might also have been required to keep track of Units, and unveil 'exposed' kind for the manner in which it were utilized.

My list starts with the 1958 AH Gettysburg
I am not sure what issue my friend's father had, but it was the Squared map and elongated pieced that I learned "serious" wargaming on. We played this game every chance we got - how well - that's another story for nine and ten year olds. But a big step up from Risk and Stratego. Today I have the 1964 version with the hexes, and I still get it out and play it.
Little Round Top Right after college and my early years of starting a family, wargaming took a back seat to other priorities. Although the urge did not wain I tried to find games I could play solitaire. This little Bookshelf game fit the bill. Although I love many of the monster G-burg games of the late 80's and 90's [which I own] I have never had a chance to play them more than twice.
Gettysburg: The Wheatfield So it is natural that when this game was published that I bought it. I love the Mechanics, love the idea, love the art work. I am very familiar with this action of the battle. I, myself, have written about the Texas' Brigade/1st Texas Gettysburg action for Master's work and Academic Publication and have played around with my own PnP game similar but much more hex oriented. "Wheatfield" is out right fun!

Last but not least, I found this under the two 3M games for $1.99. I already have a copy, but this one is in better condition (almost perfect, but for one blown corner on the box top), and at the price I couldn't pass it up.
