Not the most intuitive rules set but what grabbed me about the game was the ability to play out the rpg theme in a more structure environment. That and I liked the riot theme and use of spray cans as weapons to gain points. Plus it had cool board elements like elevators, walkways, and skyways that all served a purpose. It's just seedy and anti-social.

Unpunched. Also includes a copy of Mega-Mania which is unpunched. Both boxes show moderate wear. Block mania has some edge scuffs, and stack denting. The Mega Mania box has some edge wear and a split corner.

Fast, extremely destructive mayhem, in particular for those familiar with the setting. Not for those who cannot abide randomness but a potentially tense and highly enjoyable experience with some room for tactical finesse.

Here the 2 sides of the card are used at different points of the game, one during the main game and the other during the end game when the Judges arrive to restore order.

Again just different backs to the cards and not incorporating anything from the back of the cards into the mechanics of the game.

No the backs of the cards are all different and have different effects, the one on the right of the image is Sonic Cannon, which has a different effect to a different back. In addition as you can see the backs of cards in players hands you have some idea of what might be coming up in the end game.

OH OK, I got it. I thought at first you were saying they just staged the game from the main game and the end game. Having different actions on them is really cool. Is the deck face down? Do you draw from the top so as to see what you are getting?

As I recall (and it is a long time since I played), during the main part of the you have a hand of cards and use the Mania side during the Block War. You draw from a deck with the back of the top card visible.

At some point (I can't recall the exact trigger), the Judges arrive to restore order and in this phase you flip your cards over and now you play them for their back effects, which gradually remove all the combatants from the board restoring peace and ending the game.

During the Mania phase, the draw deck is justice side up.. so you can't see what mania card you would be getting... When the endgame kicks in, IIRC, you flip the deck over (and shuffle?), so the mania side is face up... you flip the cards left in your hand round and play from the justice side.. But you still can't see what you will be drawing.
However, during the mania phase your opponents can always see the justice side of the cards you have, and hence what you would be able to do when the endgame kicks in.

By pure chance came across this on a free-ads site (was googling to try and find a copy of Mega Mania expansion for Block Mania, no joy on that one still). Four games (Aliens + expansion, Block Mania, Curse of the Mummys Tomb, Dungeon Quest (1st Ed)) each cost me £3 and each is in excellent condition, almost as good as new. Counters punched and that's about it, everything else (including the boxes) is immaculate.

Missed the bus so walked to the boot sale first thing this morning. Was rewarded with a copy of this. Checked contents and found all the cards missing. When I asked the stallholder if he had them separately, he had no idea where they were but said I could take the box for free. I'm 95% certain I've got a parts copy somewhere at home so hopefully I'll be able to complete one set. Caught the bus home laden down with various books and an enormous amount of Lego Technic so, all in all, well worth it. Free, local boot sale.

If it ain't going horribly wrong (for everyone else) then you're doing it wrong!

There's nothing better than taking out someone else's block with a well placed thermo-bomb, cutting off their power supply leaving their blockers limping around their block like a one-legged man with a ball and chain or taking out their water tank and playing Mr Pyro with some fire-bombs! laugh

From the moment training began it was emphasized that we must use block letters exactly as they appeared in the manual to fill out the forms since they were to be read optically. I don't think we really learned anything else in training because they must have repeated this one rule 1000 times.

I also have been working as a Census Enumerator and one of the most difficult things that I had to get used to was changing the way that I printed letter I's and letter J's. I have had to redo forms more times than I want to acknowledge because my J's had that little hat on them instead of simply looking like a hook which is what the census wanted.

Grab your magical air pencil, press it onto a writing surface and complete the following strokes:

Up-Right-Down. Put a slash through your "Down" stroke and you have a seven!
