This will be a large 8 player team game using all of the aliens from the base game + the 3 expansions. Team games have teams sit on opposite ends of the table and work together so that both players get 5 points. There are some other rules around this, but just look up the third expansion if you want some more details. There will be no technology, but we will use a separate rewards deck from the first expansion for defense rewards.
I'm guessing around 2-3 hours for this to complete including teaching time. That said, if the metagaming, politiking, backstabbing and general douche-ery gets crazy, this could go longer, but it will be a BLAST!! If you don't like the idea of a game with lots of negotiations, broken promises, and table talk, this is not a game for you.
1. Josh 2. Jake 3. Jason 4. Joe (tentative) 5. Josh (tentative) 6. Brent (tentative) 7. Jon (tentative) 8.
Alternates: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.
Players marked as tentative are not 100% set on showing, but I will have definite answers from them a day or two prior to the game day. I'm expecting at least half of these players to not be able to make it. I'll make a list of alternate names and we will pull names from that list to fill any open spots (again you will know a day or two in advance if you've got a spot).
I'd like to start this in the first half of the day if possible (like 9:30 or so), but am open to suggestions on alternate start times. Any other questions, let me know.

Just a handful of games that are barely dusty.
Cosmic Encounter - 8 months, it's fun but can drag in parts. Black Friday - 8 months, online. I still don't know the rules to the game! Briscola - 7 months, I only play this at particular gatherings, but it's decent enough.

I played a friends copy, but couldn't swallow the price of the game + 3 expansions(8 player was important for me). BGG to the rescue with a nice math trade that included 1 expansion.

or cosmic Shaft as I like to refer to it. How many played, how many powers each? and who won?

Playing this game, including an explanation of the rules took an hour. I was player 3. I had one turn and player 2 won on his second turn.
One turn in one hour = bad game

I admire it enough to keep buying the expansions, despite the fact that my group doesn't really enjoy playing. In fact, I am not sure I even enjoy playing it. I just admire it's infinite replayability, and I can;t help myself!

Another ameritrash game I like. Late encounters tend to be pretty epic with everyone allying against the offence. The encounter that ends it is when the offence manages to somehow destroy all of the resistance. That's why many players save all their good cards for the late games.
A lot of players however seems to think that allied victory is anticlimactic, especially when done with a colony-for-colony deals.

This one would be great to start, if one person doesn't show there is nothing to reset just remove a color. Downside is no one but me has played it. Also not sure how it will be preceived.

Seems like an ideal fit for families where arguing, conniving and backstabbing are rewarded if anything!

The bust of the Con for me.On Friday Mark tells me that six players have signed up for Cosmic. The game I have only plays five so I buy an expansion next door at the vendor table for a sixth player. Cost was twenty five smackers. On Saturday I start adding the expansion to the deck. That night only one person shows up. He decides to play something else.I get at least eight bruises on my body playing Schnapp including my foot being stepped on twice.
Sunday Alex whose main purpose at the Con was to play games from this list that he created wants to play Cosmic Encounter. Two others play. Tom and Karen. Just terrible. Everybody hates it and can't wait for it to be over so Tom ends it early. I had so much fun playing it with Tom Vasal at Total Con.It is a game that you either like or hate. On Sunday I gave up my Slapshot slot to teach this. Next year if I bring it it will just be a pick up game. I'll ask if anyone wants to play. Thank goodness it was not the last game I played.

I've played a lot of Cosmic Encounter. I don't dislike the game at all, but I'm usually not thrilled about playing it. This time, though, was a lot of fun, very tense, very funny, very wacky. I realized that this game is the kind of game you want to have 10 expansions to, because the wackier the powers, the more fun you have. This was the right game for the right time of day. I lost (of course), because I was stuck in a permanent alliance with the Void, I couldn't take a planet without him coming along, and I couldn't find another person to ally with to get me from 3 to 4 foreign colonies. Never mind that the Claw was sitting back, waiting to grab my colony and drag it back to his home sector for the win. Lots of fun.

Missing 1 of 42 "Cosmic Tokens". Box bottom is dished from being stacked on smaller box. No tears, however. Remainder of box has very minor shelf wear (whitening at corners and edges). Components are excellent to like new.
