I paid 19.80 back when that good deal was going on at boardsandbits. I bought this, Agricola, and Merchants and Marauders. None of these have gotten sold yet. None of them have gotten played a lot yet.
We'll see.
It is the long haul with these 3.
Not too heavy for us either when it comes to boardgames. We're a little scared of complexity. Loyang doesn't scare us as much.

During some downtime, or what passes for it now, we played Loyang once.
Also, if you missed it, here's Linus' formal introduction to BGG.

I wasn't going to enter because I don't have anything exceptional, but I decided to in the end because I kinda like the feel of this one:

My best gaming experience in March was undoubtedly my 8th annual game day with my youngest daughter, Lindy, who is now 19. We kicked off with Loyang, and, not counting the use of Le Boomb for starting players, we played 14 games between 8:30 am and 11:00 pm. For a full account go here:
Jon & Lindy's 8th Annual Game Day
I also had fun with teaching Lindy Loyang on her week at home from college and playing it with her 7 times (including the above mentioned game day).
One other noteworthy experience in March was playing En Garde and Jaipur with Lindy in Tim Hortons over coffee and doughnuts. Lots of turned heads. It was great.
I am so happy to have such a good gaming partner in my now adult daughter!

I won this game in an auction about a month or so ago, but have yet to play it. Now seems to be the perfect time!

After Petz we decided to do some three player Loyang. My horrible card luck got even worse as I was barely able to afford my 1 point buy for the first three rounds. The girls handily trounced me with multiple two and three point turn buys. In the end Anna had things a bit more together than Maida and pulled off her first Loyang win ever. Fun night for me, even though I lost.
Anna - 19 points with 4 coins left Maida - 18 points with 18 coins left Rich - 16 points with 16 coins left

While by no means poorly ranked, Loyang seems to get a bad rap from those who love its siblings. Something of a disappointment I guess. I picked up Loyang on the cheap and ended up loving it.

I REALLY wanted to like this game since I had really enjoyed Agricola. I love the theme, don't mind multiplayer solitaire games as long as there is subtle interaction [London and RFTG are prime nominees] and the whole thing had great components. Rules were simple and I felt I had a pretty good idea of the game before I had purchased it.
Problem was it fell flat for me after a game. Decided to give it a few more games before I made an opinion, but it just never really improved for me. It plays alright solo, but adding 1-2 players into the mix, I felt like I was essentially playing by myself and just waiting to go on my turn. We sped that up to when no one was going to use any "attack" cards we would all just do our turn. It still gets an occasional play, but it's probably my biggest disappointment in my collection.

Another one I've only played solo here. I should teach my roommates, but I don't want to burn them out. Mosiah had a hard enough time with Citadels.
I brought it due to it's lack of an insert, meaning I could pack a bunch of the small card games into it.
