Wasps (and other flying stinging thingies)

Despite having been stung once or twice, I know this is an irrational fear. In fact, I'm not entirely sure it is a fear per se, but I feel the need to stand up and flap my arms around whenever one comes too close. I'm well aware the best thing to do is the complete opposite, but don't seem to be able to resist the urge.

Other creepie crawlies, like spiders and the like I am completely fine with...

definitely with you on this one. I am not even really afraid of their stings, though it does suck a bit. They are just so creepy looking. I also swat and flip out randomly, though that is exactly what you shouldn't do.

I'm terrified of bees. I've never been stung before, and I'm convinced that if I ever am, I'll turn out to be allergic and die. Mosquito bites swell up horribly on me, so this is not totally irrational, I think...

I used to be terrified of bees, but after getting stung several times, I merely dislike them.

Far less bothersome than a metal splinter.

I absolutely love bees. Love everything about 'em. They're beautiful. help the flowers grow, make honey, and...I don't know why, I just dig 'em. Every plant in my landscaping is there to attract bees. WASPS, however, send a shiver down my spine. Just seeing one on TV gives me the willies. Bees look happy, wasps just look evil. And yes, I know this makes no sense, but there you are.

Jenks, my mother was terrified of bees. We'd be walking to the house after being out and if a bee came around, she'd squeal and starting running.

We'd just laugh and leisurely stroll toward the house as the bee chased her down. Good times!

Both have been sitting around since the 1980's, so they have some wear, but are still highly playable.

Correct. You get four books. Select two of them for any given gaming session, which means you have 12 different battle pairings with just these four books. ...and of course battles are driven by your choices, so you have replay value with even just two books. Nonetheless, you get four:

WSP-1A Wasp, RFL-3N Rifleman, LCT-1S Locust, WHM-6R Warhammer

For this series of books 2 Expansions were sold:Basic Terrain Cards and Urban Terrain Cards
Both needed a little bit of a facelift and i wanted some custom cards to gain a more scenario-like play. So here are my cards split into 2 Artscow decks. I added my own Expansion-Logos, a Hex for Basic, a Square for Urban and a Star for Special cards. When you want to play all Basic, just sort out all cards with a Hex on them!

Deck 2

On to the Flying Buffalo booth. They're a regular atendee at the L.A. conventions, so I know to expect them each show.

I decided I'd try to fill in my holes of my flipbook collection. I like to get 2 copies of each book, to allow people to fight "mirror matches" between identical characters.

I'm short a number of the old Battletech books, so I grab these two (the Rifleman, pictured, and the Warhammer, image below).

Now, I just have to find second copies of the Griffin and Shadow Hawk books.

$14 for the pair.

The folks at Flying Buffalo bring them along regularly. They told me that they were running very low on one of the remaining 4 books (they have the two I purchased, plus Wasp and Locust), but I seem them on their tables each time I go to the conventions.

okay...you asked for it.

way back in lets say....before 1995, my friends and I would waste lots of money playing LAN Battletech at a place called virtual world...occasionally you might see one of these setups at a place like Gameworks or Dave & Buster's. When you became a 'member,' you chose a handle; I chose 'Paladin.' They had this house rule that if you duplicated anyone's handle and you were there on the same day, you got a free one-on-one battle for the use of the name, the victor getting to choose the loser's new handle (there were alot of handles like 'Prissypants' and so forth). Well I found out that Paladin was the manager's handle (D'oh!). Needless to say he whipped me handedly, but being the chivalrous type (hence the nickname) he allowed me to choose my new handle. I chose Aquila, because I was in JuCo at the time, taking astrology and the name of the constellation was on my mind.

Aquila worked really well for a long, long time as a webID, as it was unique enough to not have to be aquila78904 or something, but that didn't last, so I added 'Prime' to signify 'the original' and to pay homage to my other addiction (other than games), Transformers.

weird Aquila facts:

Aquila means 'Eagle'

Aquila the constellstion represents a cellestial Eagle that obeys the gods. This cellestial eagle was used by Zeus to transport Ganymede (the water-bearer depicted in Aquarius) to the heavens-the only mortal allowed to ascend to the realm of the gods. In some translations, Zeus uses the cellestial eagle to smite people, instead of lightning.

pretty cool, right?

snore

yeah, I thought you'd feel that way

Another Mecha game, again based on Battletech but with substantially different Mechanics. Based on the Lost Worlds picture book system this resulted in an interesting game. Unfortunately they only published a few Mechs leading to limited match ups.

I bought this game right out of my CCG craze. It was fun, and I still like to look at the stats of the mechs, etc. However, it took so stinkin' long to figure out all the modifiers of a single shot, that a "quick" battle dragged out so long that I never wanted to play. I'm glad Wizkids remade the game into a faster, more fun version.
