In my opinion this is FFGs best LCG - and I can say I wasnt into the Warhammer universe before picking this up. Also, since it is several years old, you can usually find a good deal on the core set with several chapter packs or bigger expansions.

Important Notes:
This comes with a bunch of extra stuff. In addition to the LCG core set there are a bunch of extra Order (Empire and Dwarf) cards, I think it would be comparable to 1.5 core sets. There aren't any extra Destruction cards (Orcs and Chaos). There are a few extra damage tokens as well.
This also comes with the first three packs in the first LCG cycle:
* Path of the Zealot
* The Skavenblight Threat
* Tooth and Claw
The packs have been opened but not played.
Like mentioned in the condition section, the insert for the core game is torn. It's still usable but it's a crappy generic cardboard insert anyway, and it gets in the way more than it helps. I made a cardboard sorting solution for the box that will hold the cards with sleeves (see the file uploaded here) and can include that if you want it. It isn't anything to get excited about, but it works. Cards do not come sleeved.

I got this used from a BGGer's sale. This group really liked this game and so did my Monpoc group. We'd sometimes play this after the Monpoc tourney's. We played a lot for a while and then pretty much shelved it. It might now be our game of choice but that is fast forwarding to ... today to be honest.

Now that our hosts are getting ready to move this seems to be our new game of choice. Minis are being taken out of the basement and returned to their owners. Other minis are being packed for shipping. This is now the most realistic game for us to play. They've invented rules for 3 player games and team games. They really want to play a 3 vs 3 player game. We were going to do one of each race but I think we'll not use Dark Elf and instead use two Ork decks and have one be Ork / Skaven. I need to practice to get ready for that but I think that would be a ton of fun.
This may be what we play as this school year finishes and what we will likely play if we regather at some point. It transports more easily and offers choices in buidling the decks and in game play. The theme is familiar and we love it frankly.

I was determined to limit myself to COC, but Tom Vasel had a video on Warhammer:Invasion and I knew I had to give it a try. This was unlike any CCG I had ever played. Timing, building up resources and deckbuilding with lower value, neutral and higher value cards was crucial. I was playing games that seemed like a Martin Wallace Euro, and others that seemed like a chaotic slugfest.

The big event for me on Friday was the Warhammer: Invasion tournament. Eight people participated in the tournament, and there was a decent representation of the factions. There were two Dwarf reclaim the fallen decks, two orc decks (one rush and the other orcs who get stronger as they get hurt), one chaos deck centered around the Achron legend, an Empire/lizardman deck, a high elf/empire/lizardman deck, and dark elves.
The tournament was a double elimination bracket. I played the dark elf deck, and the deck had a dual focus of hit point reduction and discarding cards from the other player's hand. The first round I played a dwarf deck, and I almost lost because of a Reclaim the Fallen. That card sent one zone burning, and drawing a second would have finished me. Luckily, that did not happen. In the second round I played the chaos deck, and beat it. Next I played the High Elf deck. The maker of the deck thought I would be playing my Dark Elf deck and built his deck with beating my deck in mind. The first round I got a great draw, and drew all three Warpstone Excavations. The second round, he stalled me some but I was able to still win.
This put me in the finals, and I had to wait for the losers bracket to play out. I think the most exciting part about this tournament is who finished second. The second place finisher had never played the game before, and after teaching the game he just about backed out of it. However, he stuck with it and by the end had a decent handle on how to play the deck he was using and the game over all. He was using an Empire/lizardman deck that was tough to beat. In the first game, I thought I was going to lose. However, I finally got some traction turned the game around and pulled off the win.
I then won the second round and the tournament, which means I will be getting a $25 gift card from Thoughthammer.com. So thanks for sponsoring the tournament Thoughthammer!
