Thunderstone could be really messy because you made the DECK with several creatures and in the end you have to sort them in order for a new game, is usually harsh even for the cardplayers.

While I enjoy Dominion and will play Magic: The Gathering, if you feel the need, I played Thunderstone this past weekend and got utterly turned off by something that felt bloated, overly complex and just not entertaining.
Despite wanting to remain open minded and engage, I found my willpower draining away towards the end and simply wanted it to finish. I couldn't see the point and felt the strategies possible in Dominion just didn't exist here - I just kept pulling hands of random cards, hoping for something useful, and repeatedly asking for rule clarifications.

A lot of people really like this game but I hated it from the first time I played it. I did not even get to have one fight. so I freaking hate it and every time I have played it after the game has not changed my mind.

dunno about Dominion (and all it´s expantion included) but this game is awful to make setup, even with 3 person take around 30 minutes or more.
Great game that require long to be setup, plus the eternal shuffling your deck... you really have to love the card games to enjoy that. The new edition Thunderstone Advance: Towers of Ruin promises improve this situation with a board to place the cards in order.
Quarriors! Contrast completely to this situation being about 5 minutes for a complete setup.

I personally love this game. I don't know how this theme could be used as a block game, but it would rock. I can see it being possible to have 2 armies going at it against all enemies, trying to make it to the thunderstone block, which would somehow be setup as hidden from both players...somehow.
It would also be cool to incorporate experience in defeating enemies and be able to upgrade your blocks just as you do your heroes in Thunderstone.
Again, I have no idea how to incorporate it, but I think it would be awesome if possible.

English edition. Like new, most cards are unplayed and a subset has been played a couple of times. I sleeved a few with Dragon Shields to make an Epic Thunderstone set which I only got to try a little.
As such this game is not fully sleeved, and I do not recommend the Mayday brand sleeves with Thunderstone due to card width. I suggest seeking out KMC standard (not 'perfect fit') sleeves as the best alternative.

Played this today, seems nice, although I'm still not a huge fan of Thunderstone. It just seems to take too long to get going. In dominion I'm making good combos and able to do some stuff by my 4th or 5th turn and in Thunderstone it seems to take until the 7th or 8th turn until you can do something cool or descent.

Andy refused to leave the Lounge for any reason, so he forced Eric, Nathaniel, Scott, and Jerry into playing Thunderstone, a rather inappropriate mid-config bridge game, there. In fact, they played the "Heart of Doom" scenario, where all eight Thunderstones are in play, with five players, so there was no way this could be considered a "bridge" game at all.
I don't know if there was a new expansion that Andy needed to get to the table. Frankly, I don't know anything at all about how this game went, other than the final scores. I don't even really know how long it took to play, as the available pieces of evidence contradict each other.
Speaking of final scores, Jerry had the largest one, with 38. Andy scored 30, Eric Classic earned 16, Nathaniel found 14, and Scott could only kill 7 points worth of monsters.
Incidentally, the end time given above is almost certainly wrong; Andy, Jerry, and Scott are all mysteriously absent from this session report from 9:40pm to 11:00pm, and the timestamp of the above photo is 10:15pm. On the other hand, the scoresheet says what it says, so as far as we are concerned, all these Loungers spend that hour and twenty minutes doing absolutely nothing.
