A fast reaction game. Play the advanced version; it's much more fun to recognize the mirror image from only the silhouette.

I discovered Tohuwabohu really late, but was able to get a copy from Le Valet d'Coeur (I think they still have some), and everyone has enjoyed playing it. What really sets it apart from other speed/pattern recognition games, is that you are always at risk of losing the tiles which you have already claimed. This introduces an extra bit of paranoia, knowing that people are trying to steal your tiles.

You can play this with the flip side, which is just black, or even with the cardboard frames the tiles get punched out of, but I've found that it increases the difficulty to a level that is not very fun (for me, anyway).

Tohuwabohu is easily my favorite Michael Schacht game.

Released by Goldsieber Spiele 1999.

This one was for me really fun when i saw the finished product because my protoype was a very, very simple and ugly one (see below).
A really big difference. But sometimes it already works.
I liked the idea of using the remaining cardboard frames also as material to play with. Quite unusual.
I bet there were some people throwing them away before realising.

I thinks this is the only game of mine for which TV spots were made.
They could be seen deep in the night because of the lower screening costs.
When the game became Family Game of the Year in Denmark they also made TV spots.
For such a small country like Denmark the sellings were incredible good:
around 60.000 copies were sold there.

I had been looking for this old Michael Schacht game for a while, then noticed that they have it in stock up at Le Valet d'Coeur. This is a cool speed pattern recognition game. What elevates it over the others is that you can lose pieces that you've already earned. So as you approach victory, you start cautiously watching your own tiles, and everyone else aspires to take them away. All this while you're supposed to be searching for other ones. Playing with the harder rules is too hard for me.

Shane Chain Part the Second

This is a speed/reaction game. A set of strangely-shaped, brightly coloured tiles are spread around the table. The director for a turn flips over a search card with a number of tiles on it and everybody tries to locate the tiles and be the first to put a finger on them. If you correctly identify a tile, you keep it in front of you as a a point. But beware, if this tile appears on subsequent search cards, somebody might be quick enough to claim it from you. To increase the difficulty, you can flip the search cards to play with non-coloured silhouettes to identify. Or you can skip the tiles and play instead with the storage frames that feature a cut-out of each tile. These are also used to store the tiles neatly in the box.

The game is complete and comes with a print out of the English instructions. It has been played but the components are of good quality so this doesn't show. My reactions are getting too slow for this type of game

New Choice added:

Zatre is a Scrabble-like game using numbers instead of letters. Only continuous sequences of 10s, 11s or 12s score, but you need to balance the values you score and also, like Scrabble, placing scoring tiles on special squares on the board is the secret for big bonuses. A nice little two player game. This is the Amigo version with multi-language instructions, nice plastic tiles, board and tile bag. The game is in great condition and the score pads have hardly been used (thanks to my access to a photocopier machine )

Another Choice added:

Tyrus

Bluff and misdirection as two players vie for dominance during the city elections, Each player's factions of soldiers, merchants and priests are employed to use their influence and power to swing the vote. Yes, there are more dirty tricks than a Brexit referendum.

Game is in great condition, with nice wooden playing pieces and multilingual instructions.

Closing Date: 10th July

It's not ranked, but has an average rating of 5.62. I played it once many years ago and loved it. But it appears not many others have loved this one. . . or even purchased it.

We are deep in the land of the lost games. There have only been 3 plays logged for this game.

I think this really shows the bias that BGG has toward new games.

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

The name of this game is the German transliteration of the Hebrew phrase translated above as "without form and void"
