Has won a ton of awards and appeals to many different players. Is not hated by many, everyone can see the strength of it.

A much more popular gateway game than Stone Age, I think it's in part because it offers low low complexity, but the more you play it, the more depth you start to recognize, until it almost gets to medium depth level. Very nice!

I love this one as it can happen even if you are not playing Cutthroat and you take a small section of track just before they do. Which can also backfire as they end up with the longest route by having to make that detour.

We played this last time and she liked it so much that I bought it for her for winter holiday. She mentions it every time I see her and says she does like to play it.
Now, if I could only get her to stop calling it "Let It Ride."

Nope, this isn't about me buying TTR. Instead this is about how, when she asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I said a trip to a games convention in Germany, she bought the flight tickets and booked the hotels. Awesome (even if she did get a bit overwhelmed by the crowds)

probably not what you are looking for, as it is board-heavy, but its essentially a card game (rummy?). and we have played it well over 50 times and still enjoy it.

Basically a set collection game at its heart. I'd think this might work, though it typically runs about 45 minutes.
Great idea for a list. Good luck both with finding games and with introducing them. If you're updating the list after introducing the games, let us know how successful each game is.

You cannot stop me from doing the Lambada just by calling it, "The Forbidden Dance."
And furthermore, I think tipping answers in GeekQuestions should be fixed.

Quote: No tournaments?
Not to sidetrack the list or anything, but there are tournaments there. That's just not why most people go.
1. If you want to play a game, that game is there.
2. If you want people to play that game with you, there are people there who will play the game with your.
3. The people are awesome. Everyone there is a nuts about games as you.
4. If you are talking about board games, the flea market and virtual flea market are better than any convention merchants' room I've ever seen.

The go to game of the moment, we could easily knock out 2-3 games of this in a sitting, even with our daughter who tends to think about her moves pretty carefully. She's pretty much playing this game on her own now, planning routes and trashing route cards to get new ones to match up for her and a few plays into it she has started trying to block my routes, although she still won't go after Mom, even though she is the better player. My wife loves this game and would probably play it almost any time she is asked to play. After a lot of plays, I finally got my first win in this last weekend, go me!
We have added the 1910 expansion to this as well.

My 6 year old likes ticket to ride. He hasn't figured out how to maximize his points yet but the colour coding (he needs 4 red cards to make a red connection with 4 spaces, for instance) is easy for him to figure out.
