Pick one:
Is ameritrash name really appropriate? Why isn't thematic subdomain named ameritrash? Why isn't strategic subdomain named euro? We should call euros Eurotrash!
and let us not forget:
What does ameritrash mean?
answers: 1) Welcome to BGG 2) Bring me some popcorn.

English 2nd edition. Complete (even extra minis are there) - appears unplayed. The board showed some minor warping, but a few days under a pile of books seemed to straighten it out. Minor box wear considering it's >20 years old. There is a price tag directly on the long, narrow edge of the box.
Looking for cash or trade. My wish list is up to date.

Had to pick up my wife at the airport today which means I stopped by the Savers in Springfield. It's on oasis for games relative to the local shops. Saw this immediately. $6.99
- it looks like most of the pieces are there, but I'll be inventorying later. Complete and unplayed!

$5.99 at Value Village. Edition pictured. Complete(*) as far as I can tell; the components list in the rulebook is pretty general, though. (E.g., "306 plastic tokens", with no further breakdown). The box does show noticeable wear.
(*) At least one helicopter had a broken blade, though.
Also found a load of Jane Austen hardcovers at this location. We'll see if these are what they're cracked up to be.
And then I found...

This is the Saddam box cover. It includes Plano boxes to store the bits. The box is in very good condition with slight shelf wear. Does not fit a flat rate box.

Woot! Appears complete and in stellar condition.
Saddam box for those scoring at home.
$5.99 and worth every penny for one of only three Gamemasters never to have been thrifted by Yours Truly. (Conquest of the Empire and Broadsides & Boarding Parties being the other two).
Probably going to keep this one, although we'll see. Maybe the FFG reprint will be as screwed up as the other FFG reprints out there and the base game will hold / increase in value.

Condition: Saddam box cover but it's in terrible condition. Lots of tape holding it together. Components have been verified 100% complete. All parts sorted and bagged. Includes 3 reference cards (normally just 1 is included). Some stains inside rulebook but does not prevent from reading it. If you just want to play the game, this copy will work.

The old Goodwill has been very, very empty concerning board games.
Walked in after not stopping for for a week.
Fortress America original Milton Bradley first edition. $1.99 looks to be complete. Will have to inventory. Box is battered, but lovingly so...

This game is always a nail biting affair as the Americans trade space for time and hang on like Grim Death to their last few cities and the Invaders are locked in a desperate race against the clock.

Considering the recent hubub around this re-release from FFG, I'm surprised this wasn't anyone's first thought.

Once, a friend of mine attacked Salt Lake City with 5 bombers while playing the US. He didn't really understand the concept of attacking with 'combined arms' in the game and he had no mechanized units or infantry participating. I only had a tank and a couple of infantry units as the western invader, but I was in the city so that made defending easier.
So sure of his victory, he menacingly gloated "Let it Rain . . . " in reference to the bombs he was about to drop on the city.
By the time the battle was over, he had lost four bombers and I had lost the three units, and then he realized he couldn't actually occupy the city as he had no ground units. He sheepishly admitted that his strategy wasn't sound and retreated to Denver with his remaining bomber.
Needless to say, this 'Let it Rain' catch-phrase is ALWAYS used every time a bomber is involved in any attack in a game of Fortress America - but the phrase is also used in other games when any aerial sortie stands a good chance of being shot down during the attack.
