Pick one:

Is ameritrash name really appropriate?
Why isn't thematic subdomain named ameritrash?
Why isn't strategic subdomain named euro?
We should call euros Eurotrash!

and let us not forget:

What does ameritrash mean?

answers:
1) Welcome to BGG
2) Bring me some popcorn.

English 2nd edition. Complete (even extra minis are there) - appears unplayed. The board showed some minor warping, but a few days under a pile of books seemed to straighten it out. Minor box wear considering it's >20 years old. There is a price tag directly on the long, narrow edge of the box.

Looking for cash or trade. My wish list is up to date.

Had to pick up my wife at the airport today which means I stopped by the Savers in Springfield. It's on oasis for games relative to the local shops. Saw this immediately. $6.99 - it looks like most of the pieces are there, but I'll be inventorying later. Complete and unplayed!

Nice. Was it the new 2012 FFG reprint pictured, or the older Milton Bradley version?

If only...funny, I think the old cover showed up when I was adding the item to the list. I'll have to fix that, as it was the MB GameMaster version.

$5.99 at Value Village. Edition pictured. Complete(*) as far as I can tell; the components list in the rulebook is pretty general, though. (E.g., "306 plastic tokens", with no further breakdown). The box does show noticeable wear.

(*) At least one helicopter had a broken blade, though.

Also found a load of Jane Austen hardcovers at this location. We'll see if these are what they're cracked up to be.

And then I found...

Woot! Appears complete and in stellar condition.

Saddam box for those scoring at home.

$5.99 and worth every penny for one of only three Gamemasters never to have been thrifted by Yours Truly. (Conquest of the Empire and Broadsides & Boarding Parties being the other two).

Probably going to keep this one, although we'll see. Maybe the FFG reprint will be as screwed up as the other FFG reprints out there and the base game will hold / increase in value.

Condition: Saddam box cover but it's in terrible condition. Lots of tape holding it together. Components have been verified 100% complete. All parts sorted and bagged. Includes 3 reference cards (normally just 1 is included). Some stains inside rulebook but does not prevent from reading it. If you just want to play the game, this copy will work.

The old Goodwill has been very, very empty concerning board games.

Walked in after not stopping for for a week.

Fortress America original Milton Bradley first edition.
$1.99 looks to be complete. Will have to inventory. Box is battered, but lovingly so...

It was mostly because you had the reprint pictured and since that one was just released, it would be pretty shocking to find it in a thrift store so soon.

The reprint brought the market price down but that was expected. Some folks might like the older because of nostalgia reasons, others may like the newer edition cause it's a smaller box. I'm not sure either one is more desirable that the other - just personal preference

What's most humorous is that because everyone complained about the change in theme they get label as "stupid USAian" when in fact they were just clamoring for the original way the game was portrayed. America was attacked.

Along those lines when did it become uncool to defend bad portrayals of America? The funny thing is the only reason you can easily get away with such things is because America has fought for the rights of its citizens to say whatever they want.

Uh, no. At least not the comments I read on FFG's web page and elsewhere.

They were most definitely the rabid "USA is the greatest good and how dare you treasonously suggest otherwise you unpatriotic filth" kind of comments.

Still disappointed about FFG's backpedaling on their original re-imagining (does that even make sense?). I never played the first one but this seems like the perfect game for my dad's group...and I'll always play against the USA on principle.

Once, a friend of mine attacked Salt Lake City with 5 bombers while playing the US. He didn't really understand the concept of attacking with 'combined arms' in the game and he had no mechanized units or infantry participating. I only had a tank and a couple of infantry units as the western invader, but I was in the city so that made defending easier.
So sure of his victory, he menacingly gloated "Let it Rain . . . " in reference to the bombs he was about to drop on the city.

By the time the battle was over, he had lost four bombers and I had lost the three units, and then he realized he couldn't actually occupy the city as he had no ground units. He sheepishly admitted that his strategy wasn't sound and retreated to Denver with his remaining bomber.

Needless to say, this 'Let it Rain' catch-phrase is ALWAYS used every time a bomber is involved in any attack in a game of Fortress America - but the phrase is also used in other games when any aerial sortie stands a good chance of being shot down during the attack.

I got this one too, based on the fun we had with Axis & Allies. It didn't see as much play as A&A, but it still got some table time.

Surprised to see this one going down. Deadwood, Mad Men, The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, Damages. The list goes on. We're in a golden age of televised dramas.

I agree. I think 24 and Lost started a "hey, scripted television can be good!" revolution. But, it has about 20 years worth of horrible crap to make up for.

24 was godawful rubbish.

I've never seen it. I know I wouldn't like it. But that doesn't mean it isn't well made and I'd still argue that it and Lost were among the fore-runners that brought scripted dramas back to the forefront in a period that was dominated by "reality shows" due to such a long period of poorly watched scripted television and, of course, the inexpensive nature of "reality tv."

I'm not an expert on TV history though -- this is just my theory based upon what I noticed in TV show trends and people's watching habits around me.

Well, I voted "Smart, Sassy, and really rather good", because some American TV drama is superb - and I think one masterpiece forgives an awful lot of tripe. I'm convinced 24 is in the latter category (and surely came after the West Wing, if we are talking about bringing scripted drama back?

Quoted for truth, and I'm very pleased so see you listed Damages. But I'll take a point away for missing The Shield on that list.

You guys got me thinking, and I went back and changed to "good".
The shows that stands out in my mind, are mainly HBO-productions. Band of brothers, the Pacific, Deadwood, Generation Kill and, being a fantasy-fan, of course Game of Thrones. There are others that I like as well. the Living Dead and Battlestar Galactica comes to mind.
