Please tell me it WON'T be the standard retail packaging. Sure it's cute and all, but it would be a royal pain in the patoot to store with the rest of my games.

A coffee can will not be the standard retail packaging. In fact, this is a promotional image of what the box art will eventually look like. The final box size will be about the same size and shape as Agricola.
We ARE, however, looking into tin packaging for a deluxe Kickstarter edition that backers could pledge for. More on that later.

UGH I actively hate games packed in tins.
I like this as cover art though, that'd be kind of cool.

Yup, that's what this image is - well, it's a preliminary design of the cover image. Which is on a box. Not a tin.

Will the tin packaging in that case be a coffee can?

Yes, if we're able to find something feasible, it would be a can. But it's still a longshot!
