If you look closely, you can see that a family of storks(?) have made their nest upon the only remaining pillar. According to our guide, the rest of the marble and stone was taken to St. John's Basilica (also in ruins on the hill on the left overlooking the Temple site) and other Christian places of worship once Christianity became the religion of Rome.

Don't let my less than excited expression fool you, it was an amazing trip!
