Cleopatra is Elizabeth Taylor. I'm not sure about the centurion, though.

The Civilization box front in similar to a movie poster for the 1964 movie 'The Fall of the Roman Empire'. This movie starred Sir Alec Guinness (center), Sophia Loren (right) and Stephen Boyd (left). It did not do well financially but is quite good. Leonard Maltin gives it three and a half stars out of four. Boyd was a fairly well-known actor in his time. He also played a major role in the classic movie Ben-Hur.

I hope you like my coverart for Avalon Hill's game "Civilization" published in 1980. (A list of my other art work for Avalon Hill appears below.)

"Civilization" went from being a AH board game to a computer game and back to a board game.

Sid Meier was a fan of the AH game and developed a computer game containing many of its elements. He gave a nod to the board game in a flyer inserted in early printings of his game. As you know a new version of the computer game is coming out soon.

You can see a complete gallery of my artwork for Avalon Hill at the "RBM Art Gallery" located at the "C3i Magazine" website -- www.c3iopscenter.com

Enjoy the Art,
Rodger

Not quite - it's Christopher Plummer, Stephen Boyd, Sophia Loren. Alec Guinness is Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars IV - A New Hope.
