Just out of curiousity, how did you decide at what point to freeze the game and mount it? One turn in?

Nope. I just wanted the game to look cool. 99.9% of the people who see it on my wall have no idea how to play the game, so lots of units and stuff on the board were more important to me than an actual game position.

That's a cool idea. I think I'll totally rip you off and make one myself! Though, I'm picturing Magic : The Gathering using card from one of my favorite decks. A dream hand, if you will.

I like how you glued dice and such on the front of the frame. Gives it a nice 3D look. Well done!

Nah, I bought a new one to frame.

However, I had to frame my old board, because the new one in the box was a little warped... Go figure!

That does look really nice, can't say I've ever seen anyone frame a board game, let alone heard of anyone doing it. Very well done though.

I totally understand the thought behind this, but why not use a good game?

I'd like to do the same for another game, how did you do this? Did you bring everything to a professionnal to have it framed or did you buy a frame or what?

More details would be greatly appreciated!

How I did it:

I used Tacky Glue to glue all the components to the board the way I wanted them.

I then took the completed board to a professional framer. The frame is about 1" deep, as the original game's pieces aren't that large.

I selected the frame and matte background, then payed a fair amount of cash.

Then, I waited until it was done!

I have been planning to do this with my extra copy of Talisman for a long time. I'll need to do a shadowbox though since the pieces are taller. I'm glad I'm not the only one crazy enough to do this. My wife just stares at me with a quizzical look when I mention it.
