My first game ended in a draw, as the USSR, who was leading through the final turn, was paralyzed in the European theatre due to an unfortunate incident at Chernobyl.
You get +1VP for each Country you control adjacent to the enemy superpower. Not just battleground countries. Check the player aid card scoring section.
I remember only counting battleground countries adjacent to super-powers and I only remember you getting points for it in Central America. Do you distinctly remember scoring Afghanistan? I don't. And not just in the last round, but ever. Finally, I remember every other detail about the final Asia scoring that game because it was important and it was the last region. So, in fact, I think I won the game. That's all I am saying.
Because this has been a very roundabout and untimely way to answer what was originally a pointed and specific question raised the day after, "We musta scored it coz we shoulda!" is not sufficient to disuade me. I accept your concession. Welcome to capitalism. We have some nice tube socks for you to buy.
Hard to remember now. Honestly, I'm not sure what we did. I don't remember counting the defcon status either, which I usually put back to zero after counting it in the other turns. In which case the Soviets would've won by one, and I accept your concession. Welcome to socialism. We have Obamacare for you to enjoy
