Two-player-game in full progress - the board is of good size, but the nation sheets take some place too

Most times she loses. And most times it costs me something later in the evening... *ggg*.

Perhaps she really intends that...

(Well, as I wrote in another thread: It was "hard work" over nearly seven years to convince her, that those games really make fun. We started with playing "normal" boardgames like Pompeii or RoboRalley - or Carcassonne. In the next step we got into fantasy boardgaming like Runebound or at last WoW:TB or Descent. And after I introduced her into "ressource managing" games like Railroad Tycoon, Power Grid etc... Well, at the end she stated, that she would love to try a light wargame like Crusader Rex (she is historian like me, that´s where we met each other). And now I´ve got her into playing HoW and even such complex games like Rommel in the Desert or Twilight Imperium III. One step after the other. Well, she has her very own mind - if she would not like to (there ARE those days) she would simply ignore my begging eyes )

theer are a couple of 2 player short scenarios which are fun ifn perhaps not as fulfilling as the full game

im very fond of the roman invasion one but ive been playing it against myself for years anyway

Well, we normally play Britannia only with us alone That means that we play both one nation and decide together "which would be the most realistic way the other nations to perform". That works very well because the nations sheets most times tell you what nations would score where the most points. And if there are more possibilities we discuss which would be the best from the view of the specific nation. We are both historians and like it to play the nations the most realistic way.

In the game, beside scenarios, there are no special rules for playing with 2 players, but it works well for us this way.

I always play 2 player by taking two colors each and pledging to play them independently, not as a team. It works pretty well. In cases where one color is attacking the other, you make the retreat choices, your opponent just rolls the dice.

No, but we love to hear matching soundtracks while playing games. Well, I suppose it was Braveheart this time

Oh good idea.

Soundtracks during a game.

Good game is it? A game store is trying to unload a copy on me.
probably making room for Essen.
But I'm not sure if I'll go for it. I've got a number of expensive ones on my list allready.

Just out of curiosity, what are you and the mrs playing at them moment?

Well, since I rated this one a clear "10" I suppose my opinion must be without useful value for you But yes, it is indeed worth it. Just look: My sweet one is playing this one with me, and it was one of the first light wargames / civ games she ever played, and we regularly play it today. And nearly everyone (beside hardcore-eurogamers) in our gaming group had fun to play it. It's only that we possess so many games that we can't play it that much often

Today we will play Khronos and History of the World - the guya are coming in in about four hours. Very often we see Railroad Tycoon, Arkam Horror, Memoir '44 and Galaxy Trucker on the table. And we are seeing forward for Dungeon Lords and Stronghold

Yeah that's a common problem.

So many games, so little time.

Lucky you, many of us will envy you having so many people to play with.

have fun.
