Thanks for the great comments guys this was forwarded to me because I happen to be one of the artist involved in this setup. The Diorama was setup at both Origins and Gencon 06 to show what battletech can look like. There were 10 to 12 different artist from Camo Specs Online involved in this project. The battle scene is the Wobbie attack on the planet Outreach just at the instance the Wobbie dropped the nuke because things were not going so well for their side.
We did play a game on it Saturday night and it was a blast. We will have a new diroma setup this year at both Origins and Gencon so feel free to look for us and ask some ? when you come buy.
Oh Snap! I thought nuclear weapons weren't allowed in the battle Tech Universe.Wow,of course the Word of Blake would cheat if they were being defeated ,but hey, when your being defeated cheat only in a last resort struggle .

Well, they were used up until the Ares Conventions, which was what caused Battlemechs to be developed. Then during the Succession Wars, the technology and knowledge plummeted. Once the Clans invaded, production of capital ships and jumpships increased. Nukes have always existed in the game, but discouraged. Eventually, capital missiles were outfitted with nuke warheads, i.e., the Santa Ana (50 megaton) and Peacekeeper (500 megaton) variants of the Killer Whale capital missile. One of the most famous uses of a nuclear orbital bombardment was on the Wolf's Dragoons homeworld of Outreach. The Word of Blake razed the whole planet. Mind you, there are many fans of Battletech that have been playing since the 1980's and 90's that refuse to acknowledge anything past the FASA days as canon. Those fans are more than welcome to play however they like in whatever era they choose, but like it or not, the WoBbies and the Jihad are canon. What remains to be seen is what happens past 3085. Will CGL confirm the storyline events that took place in WizKids' "Dark Age"? Who knows.
