Frank's Zoo with bits I made to help keep track of scores. The coloured discs denote current standing; your partner has the disc of the matching colour. The black squares are used to keep track of finishing order for the round.

Those homemade bits look great!

What are they made of? The numbers are apparently 3-D, and not just painted on, so I'm guessing it's some sort of ceramic. Did you coat them with something afterward? I would love to make bits like these for some other games.

I made the bits using Du-kit which is a make 'n' bake polymer modelling clay similar to Fimo. I chose Du-Kit because being made here in New Zealand it is slightly cheaper then Fimo.

I rolled out the clay with a rolling pin to make the bases. I then carved a grove for the numbers so that they would be partially imbedded into the base but still retain a raised 3-dimensionally appearance. The bits aren’t coated with anything; they just go nice and glossy when baked.
