I might have to bring games on my next vacation based on background scenery
I will repost my same focus comments from the Through the Desert image for the benefit of any interested aspiring photographers out there:

If you want to try to get both the foreground and background in focus you can do this quite easily with many digital cameras.
If you have manual mode or aperture control on your digital camera then you want to change the settings to use the smallest aperture (which is the largest F# like F8.0 instead of using F2.8).
Think of it as a person with glasses squinting there eyes to see better. The smaller the aperture, the more is in focus. You can achieve the same thing if your camera only has a shutter speed setting (but no aperture setting) by choosing the slowest shutter speed possible - this forces the camera to choose the smallest aperture to let in less light and expose the photo properly. If you are not using a tripod don't go below 1/60s or camera shake could start to be a problem.

I came here to suggest the same thing. This image would be better with both in focus or even with the games pieces in focus and the pyramids slightly out of focus.
Judging by how close together the pyramids game piece is, they seem to have used the famously altered National Geographic version for their model, instead of the real thing!
