Stupid question, but that's a Photoshop, right? He didn't just happen to have Through the Desert on him as he was walking by a camel. I mean, what are the odds?
It's real photo There was a camel on the beach every day in our hotel. And some days we played yspahan on the beach (I use camels from ttd to yspahan). As a proof - some other pictures made same time:

I want to see some pictures with the Twilight Imperium III pieces with the actual ships behind it!!! I know its a sci-fi game, but come on, that would be truly awesome!
The framing and camel pose are perfect (compared to your other shots this looks like definitely the perfect one!)
If you want to try to get both the foreground and background in focus you can do this quite easily with many digital cameras.
If you have manual mode or aperture control on your digital camera then you want to change the settings to use the smallest aperture (which is the largest F# like F8.0 instead of using F2.8).
Think of it as a person with glasses squinting there eyes to see better. The smaller the aperture, the more is in focus. You can achieve the same thing if your camera only has a shutter speed setting (but no aperture setting) by choosing the slowest shutter speed possible - this forces the camera to choose the smallest aperture to let in less light and expose the photo properly. If you are not using a tripod don't go below 1/60s or camera shake could start to be a problem.

Great photo, and even greater - it has a back story. Good work!
