Wow those look outstanding! I used to paint Battletech miniatures and now I want to get back into painting. I have Descent but no clue how to paint something that detailed. Any chance of you posting some pointers? Long ago I had a great Games Workshop guide but not anymore, heck I wouldn't even know when to do the ink wash!
Hi. I have given a few details on how to prep the minis and painting the bases under some of my descent pics if you have a look through you will Find them. I recommend clicking on the large image option for a close look at individual minis you will be able to see the different layers of highlights this way. As for pointers, Working from a black base coat you will get good results simply dry brushing (keep the brush away from water) the mini with a base colour then, dry drushing lighter tones over the mini on high points where the light would catch naturally. Then paint in the details like teeth claws weapons etc. don't worry about catching areas of the mini you haven't painted yet as they will cover later. There is no real set point to add ink washes, if you need to dull down a colour add a thin wash or two, if you want to enrich a colour again add a wash or two, as an example, green skin. Add a wash of yellow ink to brighten up or brown ink to dull down. Don't be afraid to try new ideas you can always re paint things that don't quite work out. Don't skimp on the bases, a neat base will set off an average painted mini. Games workshop paints are what I use to paint all my minis the new foundation set is well worth investing as they have great covering power. If there is any mini or technique in particular you would like details on I would be happy to give advice. Enjoy your painting.
That is amazing work. Much more effort than I put in. I am impressed by your dilligence. I simply base coated them and dipped them. They look a lot better that the plastic, but no were near as good as yours. Bravo!
