TOI box with screen capture from Saving private Ryan - Reiben at the bridge towards the end of the movie. Must have been the model for the rifleman on the box.
If you look closely at their faces, it would appear every soldier on the cover has been painted from the same model at different angles and with different expressions.
The tank almost appears to be the one at the end of Saving Private Ryan as well. (That's an awfully big front for a panther, it looks like an altered tiger.)
The guy in the foreground looks a bit like like Clint Eastwood (perhaps as Lt. Kelly from _Kelly's Heroes_).
Oddball:"Who is that guy, Crapgame?" Crapgame:"Him? Name's Kelly. Used to be a lieutenant, pretty good one, too, `til they gave him orders to attack the wrong hill. Wiped out a half a company of G.I.'s. Somebody had to get the blame and he got picked." Oddball:"oh man! I don't LIKE 'officers'!" Crapgame:"well relax, neither does HE!"
You guys are nuts. You think that is the only picture in this world of a guy holding a gun like that? As if to say, "No one else has ever been seen holding a gun cupped in his left hand, right hand ready to pull the trigger, and lazily aiming down the sights with mouth partially open!"
Come on guys. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers held a Gun in WWII and they generally all held it the same way.
It's entirely possible that the paratroopers in the background were lifted from the shot of 101st dropping in Holland (HBO's Band of Brothers). Even the drab, bleach bypass look of the picture is a straight rip-off...
