That was the caption I was going to use originally, but I wasn't sure if enough people would get it.
boy, that really bugs me. do you really think we're that daffy? *ducks*
actually, i can understand that since it's an international site. for all i know, when watching looney tunes in france, bugs might say "shoulda made a left at carcassonne."

I am definitely that daffy. I recognize the name, and I recall it was used in a song once, but I couldn't say in what state it might be, nor the significance of turning left there.

More likely Alburquerque, Spain...
However, there is a board game called Alquerque. Wikipedia states that "Spanish settlers in New Mexico introduced a four-player variant of Alquerque to the Zuni Indians."
Perhaps the city of Albuquerque got its name from a board game?!

It's from a running joke on the old Looney Tunes cartoon in North America. Once in a while a Bugs Bunny segment would start with him popping out of the ground in some unusual location (for a rabbit). After surveying his surroundings, he would pull out a map, study it, and say some variation of "I knew I shoulda made that left turn at Albuquerque".
It's in New Mexico, but I guess the humour comes from it being a funny sounding name, like Walla Walla, Washington.
Wow! My first triple-digit-thumb post. Thanks for all the gang.
I was separating and bagging the components for TtD during our first snow fall of the season in southern Ontario. Struck by inspiration, I rushed out before I lost the light. Even so, I had to brighten up the shot in Photoshop.
I know it's just a silly joke photo, but I'm glad a lot of you liked it.
This and the comment reminds me of a cartoon years ago, where a deep sea diveron the sea bed, in globe-like helmet and lead boots, is wrestling with a giant octopus, defending himself with his diver`s knife.
The caption reads: "It was always a mistake to turn left at Milton Keynes".
