I used soft "artificial wood" (=polyurethane)to carve the figure.

The project continued a bit further...

I wanted to make a copy of the figure for my friend.
So I took a mould out of my original= Please go and check from the "recent"-pictures if you like.

I carved the original figure to soft cibatool
(="artificial wood"/polyurethane).

Since the material was as soft as balsawood the proscess was quick. That means 2+ hours and the figure was ready & painted.

May I ask from where may I find the materials (softwood, silicone) that you used? I'm searching of ways for producing game bits, but it is hard to finf such suitable materials in the net.

You asked me a difficult question and unfortunately I can't give you an easy answer.

Avaibility of these materials varies a lot depending on where you live & how much money you are ready to spend.
For example if you live in the States or Central Europe the shipping costs for ordered chemichals are modest.

Keep searching the internet and try keywords: SIKA and WÜHRT (from Germany)
Both of them are big international chemical distributors & manufacturers. You can call/write to their infodesk and ask for help to locate your nearest vendor for their products.

The product selection in the field of silicones, resins and polyurethane is really wide.
The project at hand dictates the products you want to use: desired qualities for the mold & the casted pieces = ask help from the manufacturer/ vendor.

The material qualities differ from label to label.

With silicone:
-price
-minimum package size
-curing time
-viscosity before & after the casting
-colour
-smell

With resin
-as above
-brittleness when cured.
-toxicity

Polyurethane foam /"artificial wood"
-as above
-hardnes varies from soft to extremely hard

Sorry that I could not give you any more precise answer

Nice Job !

I just discover this gem of art(but two years after the first post)
What envy !

Beatiful figure and great art. I will try it with wood. I'd prefer it for these precision jobs.

Do you have more figures to show us?
