OK, folks - as requested, here's a Sneak Peek at the Robot and First Mate in progress. I'm not as happy with these two as the first two, but they're not bad. Once I get them based and their eyes painted (and give Leadfoot his antennae), they'll look much better.

For those who have asked, I make these with Sculpey III, and I really don't "sculpt" them - most of the shaping is done by hand (which is why some of their features are more cartoony than detailed - fitting, I think).

They stand about an inch or so tall, and their bases are 1.25" square. I do the body first, add the legs (both shaped by hand), then "mount" the figure on a base with a small armature for support. Then I add the arms, eyes, and any other features. They're baked on that stand, removed, paint details (if needed), then placed on their final base with a post for added support (if necessary).

Barry, great job! Keep it coming! And please think about creating molds for mass production once you're done with all the figures!

Fantastic job!!

How long does it take you to do one figure??

I tried doing some Snits, but couldn't get them to look as good as your AGTFOS ones. I find it really hard manipulating the Sculpy when it sort of 'bounces back' and goes 'floppy'. So I'll be mounting mine on wooden blocks.

Ben.

Thanks, Ben. It takes me about an hour to two hours per figure. Unfortunately, I haven't had much time to work on them lately, so I likely won't make PrezCon. They should be finished by early March, however.

Mike - I don't have the printed map yet. I have the basic art finished in CorelDRAW, but no text over the rooms, and I'm going to re-do the art for the doors. I'll have the map printed after I finish the figs - I can't justify spending $120 on the board until the Crew and Things are ready to do battle.

How are you coming along with this? Any more goo done??

I tried, but they just didn't look as good as yours so I opted for blocks instead.

Ben.
