Be careful, she does have a gun.
He is referring to "Mandy," the girl with the book. The girl with the guns is "Jenny."
There are a lot of things that came to mind when I saw this picture, and I can't list them all here, but they are all somewhere between shock and a giddy, childish glee. You are my heroes.

Our Mandy is a little more modest then the lady on the character card, but we do have photos of her posed like the original picture.
But it would be extremely anti-climactic to show up, all ready to go, and then... go over the rules...
I hosted a similar AH dress-up event on New Year's Eve, and that's exactly what happened. Consequently, the combination of 6+ players, a bunch of newbies, friends who haven't seen each other in a while, use of the Dunwich Horror Expansion, and alcohol does not make for a seamless Arkham Horror experience (oh, and we died). Oh well. I think most of the folks still had fun and would willing to try it again, so at least it wasn't a total wash.

Well, as I mentioned above, we made sure the eight players had lots of previous experience, and that everyone who was there WANTED to be there and play.
We planned it for a couple months, actually.
And it was enough to get more people interested in playing it more often! So we'll have lots of people ready for the big double game dress up party we're working on!
I wish I had kept better track of the games events and such, but I can tell you we won, and it was "faster" then we expected, especially for Arkham. I think 3 and a half hours of gameplay? That isn't including the snack/drink breaks and photo-ops.
Could some fan please add a picture of the "real" characters to this thread, for purposes of comparison?
And here they are (cut from punch-board scans submitted by gamephotos):
Left-to-right: "Ashcan" Pete (the Drifter) Harvey Walters (the Professor) Amanda Sharpe (the Student) Michael McGlen (the Gangster) Jenny Barnes (the Dilettante) Sister Mary (the Nun) Joe Diamond (the Private Eye) Vincent Lee (the Doctor)

Too bad, she fits better as Mandy Thompson (the Researcher)
That's because I actually was playing Mandy Thompson, and Jordan neglected to correct that particular one! Hahaha.
Glad you guys are enjoying the pictures. We took SO many.
I've recently purchased a camcorder, so our next geeky venture will be some Arkham Horror short films...
ETA: I was working with semi-professional clothes from my day job, which, since it's at a school, doesn't generally involve a lot of cleavage. I'm still looking for the perfect Mandy Thompson outfit. I'll try to be more true to form next time.
I'm really impressed by the way you guys did the costumes. Although I was surprised when I saw it, I am beginging to understand that people other than myself role play Arkham Horror. It certainley is more of an upper than the Call of Cathulhu rpg.
