Great idea, and nice execution. I especially love the beat up dice and the Shrieker figure. Oh, and good choice of edition for the books.

I got a second set of books as a gift as a kid and never used them. They were stored for the last several years and have stayed in good condition.

Thanks to all of you for the thumbs and GG gifts. I really wanted to do a tribute picture for Gary Gygax when he died but could not think of what to do. Then I thought of all the games that came from his ideas and all the miniatures that I have from those games. A memorial seemed appropriate.

Again, thanks. I have never had a photo on the front page before. I hope it is because of peoples honor and respect for Gary Gygax as he brought so much entertainment to so many of our lives.

Great picture!

I agree with what was said about the edition of the books. Dungeoneering will never be that good again.

You know, that is a very touching tribute. It gets right to the heart of the matter, in that if it weren't for Mr Gygax's creation, there would be a lot of games that we would have no knowledge of. He changed gaming and pop culture forever.

Rest in peace, Gary. The gaming community around the world thanks you and will always miss you.

But the first 1st edition books didn't have the yellow stripe in the upper left-hand corner...

Nice photo. But don't forget, Gary played a lot of board wargames AND miniatures games, too!

And designed board wargames, notably, Alexander the Great.

he was also a big fan of boardgames, in general.

Completely off subject, but from those 1st edition pics, I can see how people thought of D&D as devil worship.

Well it is, right? whistle

I still own my 1st Edition books. Started palying the D&D game in 1977/78.

Heck, I met two of my girlfriends playing AD&D in College.

What a great hobby we have!
